Our first trip in the abandoned 1986 Luxury Barth Motor home! join us as we head to the lake for a three day adventure and put a full and thorough test on all of the systems on this RV that has been sitting since 2008. Really enjoyed following the Barth progress. Other than pulling rugs, she is ready for family adventures. Mrs. Lind is a good sport and very smart for starting the trip with a crock of cooked meat. Nothing worse than having to cook after setting up camp. Enjoy!

I’m loving the progress on the old RV. My opinion is, get everything working as well as it can and when it comes to fixing up the inside, the only opinion that counts is your wife’s. Make/keep her happy and all is well!

I meant to add, Lots of love to you and your dear family, from my wife and I IN IRELAND.
If you're going to use it, update it to suit your needs and tastes. We put hardwood floors in ours, which are a lot easier to keep clean. And our original tiny fridge had a pleather studded door. We replaced it with a larger, new fridge. We also removed the booth dining to put in a breakfast bar which gave us a lot more storage and counter space

I just love these barth renovation videos of yours. Nostalgia is creeping up on me watching you fix it up. I know the carpeting needs to come out, but the original fixtures makes me feel so relaxed and comfortable.

Love the Barth what an amazing bit of Kit. I'm rigging out a camper myself, a lot smaller than the barth its a former British Army Ambulance based on a Landrover 101 Forward Control. Started Life in 1977 as a Royal Artillery Gun Tractor for a 109 mm Field gun then in 1983 was converted to an Ambulance for the Royal Artillery Comando Regiment. Now it's in retirement as an adventure camper. Keep up the great vlogs they are great entertainment.

With ours it was like taking your cabin with you where ever you went. Like a second home on wheels that fills with wonderful fun, and adventures. Even the breakdowns were an adventure. The couch pulls out into a double bed. The chairs can be turned and the backs can drop down for a single. We sold our big one when the kids grew up. We did 100 or 200 mile trips mostly and 3 multiState cross country trips. The cost when you get rid of sleeping in a tent discomfort or motel costs plus having to buy your meals made instead of making them in the rv kitchen It was well worth the costs. When traveling the kids would read or watch a movie. My wife would read, nap in the back.

Great fixer upper. Did the same with a 2001 40’ American Dream. Took it to Alaska. It’s good to start with a quality coach. Great family fun and the kids love it. Like your videos.

Yeah, in my area a 1996 Chevy Cargo Van with 400,000 miles on it (not a joke) is listing for $12,000+.
Yea, the second he got it running I honestly think he made like 20 grand right there. If he gets it in tip-top condition, he can spend like 10k and probably sell it for 70k
She's a little time right right now. But not so bad that a good old fashion cleaning and color matching + bringing up painting up won't fix. And of course the carpet is just plain old. But there is real nice natural build flooring that will do well for that now. Also some nice area rug's as well. ( In other word's - Make it - Your's and add " home" touching's to it. ( Just saying :)) !) I think this is what " momma " (wifey) was saying too - when she was referring to tha' - fuzzy wall's !
Big windows on that Barth. Like what you might get in a Prevost bus now. Very nice.

What a great find! I agree it's a keeper. Some motor work, carpeting and other odds and ends, it will keep you going to the lake for years. Maybe fix the clock.....
Do an entire video of working on the engine. That's the heart of the machines

Manual adjust RV mirrors are actually pretty easy to find. Lots of parts houses have them. Yours are a bit unique for the era in that they look like they have signal indicators in them, but there should be some kind of retrofit you can find. Carpet in RVs, especially "working" RVs is a bad idea. My recommendation is to get rid of the carpet in everything except the bedroom. Put down some lightweight vinyl plank everyplace else, and that should clean the thing up real good.

thats brilliant your first trip in the Barth.i wouldn't worry about cosmetics yet just the mechanicals on there and air con./fridge etc.nice you got away with family.

I would update it, after living in a RV trailer newer materials can be such an improvement along with LED etc, that 454 is a good motor be it low compression but you could rebuild or LS swap.
The grasscloth wallpaper is my favorite part of the interior. Definitely don't change that out. I'm surprised the interior isnt primarily 1980s brown haha

A motorhome trick that worked for me. Had a 34 foot Bounder 454 with OD and trans didn't want to up shift. Something in trans sticking ?...Got a can of "Plus 2" (brand specific) carb cleaner. Shake well and spray down trans dip stick tube for 20 seconds. Worked great instantly shifted when it should and operated smoothly...
That Lifedoo box had me laughing for quite a while. "It's heavy as SHIT"

Been looking forward to this one and glad you all had a great time. Our 94 Southwind has been sat for 2 years due to the covid malarkey but we're currently dusting the cobwebs off and will be heading down to the south coast of the UK for 10 days in August......Hoping for some sunshine as it's typically wet and miserable over here at the moment.
Keep the content on the old girl coming and fingers crossed, the Mrs will grow to love her as well.

I have an '89 HMC $130K new with a lot of similarities including the in-depth and massive collection of receipts. The ocean air has degraded some things like jack/ step functionality, rusty bumpers and some other stuff but it's clean, the solar panels and batteries are are good, brand new mattress, built in vac and blender. Your video has helped motivate me! thx

Love it, mate. This is the kind of thing I dig. Returning this barge to a semblance of its former glory, is awesome. It’s what I did for years with cars, VW Kombi campers and caravans (I think you call them Trailers...or Airstreams?) and always enjoyed it. Never managed to get my hands on something as grand as the “Barth”, so I’m loving this series. It’s 4.45am here, in Koonya, Tasmania, Australia ... I was asleep, woke up for nature’s call, and noted a notification. So now I’m watching this instalment. Hmmm... get a life, Robbo!

been camping for 15 years with the kids 2 years ago i sold everything; 18 feet boat, RV, camping spot.... we had a wonderful time.
