I had a similar issue and I think it was because I mix and match different cameras without formating the card. Now I always format the card on the camera before using it and I haven't had the issue since then.
Very sorry to hear you’ve been having problems. I have owned many Sony cameras along with the Sony A7S IiI, and I use it on a daily basis. The only time I have ever had a problem with any of my Sony cameras is when I have had an offbrand SD card. I must admit I’ve never heard of the card manufacture you are using, but I suspect the card is the issue issue, and not the camera. I imagine you have already tried this, but my suggestion would be to try a well-known brand and stick with it for a while and see if the problem occurs.
@@Duchateau-Media well that is odd. I have been using this camera for 3 years. I had one issue when I used someone else's sd card on a shoot. A brand I have never heard of. Sice then, I've never had an issue with any of my 3 Sony camsras. Other guys I work with also use the A7SII and FX3. No issues that I am aware of. But obviously every camera is different and you might have an issue with yours. I do think however that sticking to major brands, and full size SD cars with capacities of 512 and under, you'd be safe.
@@patrobertson4365 Honestly with CFexpress cards u should not have any issues when it comes to file size. I don't mind if I have to switch on the day once, But it's either a writing to card issue or an issue with the Angelbird cards. I ordered two Sony 900GB CF type A's lets see how I fair with those.
It happens with Canon too - not often thankfully - I own a Canon R6 Mk II - I was constantly switching from capturing video to photo - I think it's something related to the processing power of the camera - I don't think it's the battery. It could happen with an SD Card that is below V90 but I think it's more related to internal processing. These cameras are amazing but they overpromise when it comes to performing all these actions together (let alone the buffer limitations vs burst continuous shooting) The good news is that after I removed the battery and put it back in -- all the other files on the SD cards were there.
I have a backup body with cards. It is mainly you are filming and encounter that error. I am lucky to not have lost any footage yet.. honestly sony remaining silent on this issue is unacceptable.. especially since more people have these errors.
Had this happen to me, I believe it has something to do with the cards and dual recording. Happened to me during a fashion show with at least 6 Small clips. I stopped dual recording for the rest of the event and it didn’t happen again. I formatted my cards when I got home, and could NOT recreate the problem. Used it on several different jobs(dual recording) and praying that it doesn’t happen again.
Dang, that sucks. Like another commenter mentioned, you can try formatting the cards before each shoot to see if that helps (if you aren’t already doing this). If you don’t find a fix, external recording can be an option for redundancy (such as using a Ninja V, Video Assist, etc.).
This is the reason so many people recommend staying away from high capacity cards - which doesn't make sense - if it's a CFex A card for bookoo bucks, it shouldn't do this. But like tires on a car, cards are a wear item because they get put into and taken out of cameras repeatedly, and there's a life cycle for the car contacts, and if they wear out, the card is unusable and at the end of its life cycle.
The problem is there are too many points of failure depending on the age of the media and the batteries they may be due a refresh - the camera could be having an issue writing data so it may be worth dropping it in for repair - not sure if sony are doing a SPS - "Sony Professional Services" where you are, though either way drop it in to an aurthorised repair centre. While it could also be down to heat. if they camera is canny hot and been recording prior to the next clip it may just not work due to it being too hot, Upgrading to ther FX3 may be the best solution overall. Though I would still do the prior things and get this up and running as best as possible first and make it a B or / C cam if upgrading is posible
Also you could just start recording to SSD via the HDMI especially in the short term if you have a ninja V for example - Though this also in my opinion has too many failure points.

That is horrible that your camera froze. I had an issue where my A7SIII stopped autofocusing. I tried taking the battery out, that did not work. Turing the camera off and on, that did not work, taking the lens off, that did not work. The only thing that worked was reseting the software, which is annoying. It hasn't done it since then but its only been a few weeks.
Oof man, that's a heartstopper if it happens during the ceremony. Just keep a second camera nearby, I guess. Are these Angelbird cards officially approved by Sony?
its a problem of sony. sometimes I have a freeze on a7r M5 too...., last weekend I had it on a a7 M4. After the Battery eject, works again without file corruption.
Are you shooting to dual slots simultaneously? I will make a short update video on this and what I did to prevent It from happening again. One downside keep in mind if u update the camera u cannot downgrade. It really makes me salty because I feel like; what if they bring out new firmware that essentially might break your camera?
