I purchased this Beauty 2 days ago! I love this model. I would love to have the parking assist option. Comfortable and I love the dash board and how it is is angled toward the driver
I was at a toss-up between this and the VW Taos. Took them both for a test drive and honestly the drive is like night and day. The extra 50 horsepower in the Kona makes a huge difference. Picking it up in January
I didn’t mind the last one. Wasn’t ugly but definitely wasn’t anything great. But man this one is actually pretty nice to look at. Hyundai/Kia doing some great styling
@@jcmphreek Kona N owner. I overall like the old design but it had elements that clashed, like the rear top lights looking modern and the bottom tacked on. Many of the edges didn't blend in well but it had a more aggressive look I liked more. I thought the sides were a touch too flat and would have liked a slight wide body flare to the wheels. Not happy with it getting bigger on the new gen but most people would like that I suspect, not sure. Everything looks great but the incandescent lights in the lower rear ruin it for me. Why isn't it LED on a 2024 car and what's that shape and odd decision to place them so low, stands out too much to me

Good comprehensive review as usual! It’s a shame you don’t get the hybrid model in the US as I think it’s the best option for this segment where low running costs is an important factor. We will be getting the hybrid model here in Australia and in fact I’ve ordered one in that same denim blue as your test vehicle with the light grey interior. We also get driver’s seat memory which I noticed even your top trim doesn’t seem to have. I paid under $31k USD equivalent for the top trim with sunroof which I think is good value considering the space, technology and futuristic styling on offer.
If only I can get the N-Line with Limited trim packaging! N-Line version in other markets do get full LED lights as well as ventilated seats and blind spot camera. The U.S. always get the shorthand of the stick with features. And no hybrid option for the U.S. market is crazy to me! I wonder what is the reason behind that. Again, American market are being treated like peasants!
It feels like the U.S. is second tier for many auto manufacturers. As you said, frustrating not getting the same features, or when models premiere elsewhere first. Just give the N-Line those Limited features. We'll pay!
It's between this and the Crosstrek for me. Both have pros and cons. Gonna come down to price for me. Hyundai's website doesn't even list the SE or SEL trims for the '24 Kona. Only the N-Line and Limited. A little disappointed in the marketing from Hyundai USA so far.
I just feel like a decline in horsepower, mpg and zero to 60 is something I can live without. I’ll probably end up going with the Crosstrek Sport or Wilderness instead.
The old Kona was seriously peppy and fuel efficient. It was a mid 6s 0-100 and had much better fuel economy. Sucks that they went two steps back for this new gen.
Family member got the new Prius. I really like it but need something a little bigger and diff. If this had a hybrid variant that was pushing 50 mpg then it would be a winner
We have a Forte GT-Line and need a second vehicle, this is probably going to be it, the key fob is hideous to me 😅 but I think I’ll do a chrome delete if we do pick it up.
Not a fan of Hyundai design language to many lines and sharp angles with creases smooth out the doors would make it look much better. Also that dash does not look minimalistic it has buttons galore 😂.
American does not have hybrid Kona?, we have hybrid in Australia market with LED turn signal.. all interior LEDs Nline premium except license plate and reverse which is bummer... in Korean spec they have Dash Cam built in, the memory is in the middle console located where your cup holder is... and walk in device on front passenger seat...
Not bad, Hyundai addressed a number of shortcomings from the last model, nicer interior with more room, quieter and smoother. The Selfos has the advantage of more room and IMO better styling. I have driven all of these over the last year (except for the Corolla Cross, waiting for the Hybrid) The Mazda CX30 2.5T is a compelling proposition, but this is definitely more competitive now.
I kinda wish it didn't have a similar body style to the new Tucson, specifically the sides with the sharp edges. It's too similar and not unique enough.
Terrible safety design where these manufacturers are now sticking the trim signals in the lower bumper where the eye isn’t used to looking. Inclement weather makes that scenario even worse.
I can live with small unpainted wheel arches but the massive plastic thing on the Limited like the Toyota Bz4x are horrendous, The N-Line is very good looking tho
I feel they should have painted the areas over the wheels. That blackness over the wheels I think make the car look ugly, very ugly. Used to love the Kona for its stylish body. But not no more.

Electric is GARBAGE, nobody will be able to gage how many miles and charges one will get if they do buy one used. There will be a lot of these used vehicles in a giant landfill some place. having a transmission that lasts is more important than mpg..comparing it to a 06 civic is dumm bc of size and weight

It could be that international automakers are put off by U.S. legislation that targets half of all vehicles sold to be zero-emission by 2030
