    Thanks for your species spotlights! It's refreshing to see how honest you are by not recommending rosellas as pets. All parrots (including the small ones) are a huge and long-term responsibility, and too many end up with misinformed and neglectful owners. Keep up the good work!

    Im from Australia and my grandmother owns a green one we found on the floor of a school yard kids surrounding him. He has a special bond with me every time he sees me he goes crazy doing his different calls even if he just hears me its so cute I've taught him to say pretty boy and gives me kisses he actually started my love of feathered babies.

    I love all your discussions on all the species of birds you have.It’s a fun learning experience for me.Your Rosella is just beautiful.He has almost all the colors of a rainbow .It’s cute to hear him talk and how you taught him to wave. I love the way he takes his little bath.Oh how I wish my Stormy Boy would take a bath .He. runs too when I take out the spray bottle.Thanks Donna for a very informative and most enjoyable video.Take care!

    A very useful video indeed, especially for me, being an owner of a rosella myself! I’ve learnt a lot more about my own Rosella through your video, so a big thank you for being so informative, for instance, you helped me identify that my own rosella is a female (and therefore, I made an appropriate decision naming her Rosabelle) so I was quite right about her name and she’s solely got red and yellow feathers, red being the majority with a slight patch of yellow on her back! I feed her the exact same mixture of seeds I feed my budgies, although placed in different cages, they share the same bag of food! My Rosella loves mimicking the beeping sound you hear when you tap your oyster travel card on a reader at the beginning/ end of a bus/tube/train journey and similarly, she has grasped the sound of someone’s laugh and enjoys regularly giggling away! It’s hoarsely very cute! I’ve had my rosella and cockatiel in the same cage and they get along quite well, there have been no issues caused by it, most likely because they’re of similar sizes, they therefore have much less of a tendency to get rough with each other but yeah as they grow and expand in size, I’ll be separating them into separate species bound cages of their own! My Cockatiel is loud, whereas my rosella most of the time is barely heard, she’s one of the quietest birds I’ve got, you can scarcely hear her chirping over het cage mate cockatiel’s

    To me Rosella is my best bird pet, even though he does not like to step up, or get handeled much. I basicly ignore him, and he come to me when he wants. But he comes and sit on my arm when i am on the computer, and he gets his treats. But the finger he refuses to sit on. When i leave the room, he will go back into the cage, so in that way he is an easy bird to get back into the cage. He never bites, even though he does some shadow attacks once in a while. It was interesting to see how your rosella is with you. I didn't know they had an impression of being so agressive. But i never trust him with other birds, i could agree on that. Thank you for a good video and insight of Rosellas.

    We have an Eastern Rosella, Skittles. She was flying wild outside and we lured her into a cage She is in a large parrot cage and seems content. She ducks her beak asking for treats which consists of daily baby carrots, sometimes celery leaves and romaine lettuce plus maybe tortilla chips or pretzel. Also good quality small parrot food.

    • @deborahbenedict6089
      @deborahbenedict6089 3 роки тому +4

      I am in Southern California so I'm guessing someone released her because of her natural nature. Skittles can be very personable and chitters to me. I love how she does the beak duck when she wants something and again afterwards kinda like "Thank you ". We can't handle her or let her fly free, though I do have some thoughts there, someone released her. But damn I love that little bird and her antics.

    love rosellas ! i think a lot of grass birds are such underrated pets, but it sounds like rosellas are not great pets hahahaha. i think a lot of people think they want a parrot like a cockatoo or something, but there's a lot of fun in an independent bird. i find that funny that despite your efforts he's not tame ! i know that people say those things about grass keets, but have seen that that can be completely different if you spend the time. had no idea about rosellas being so standoffish.

    • @mehere8038
      @mehere8038 2 роки тому

      Probably not surprising I guess, if you look at them in the wild, they're the same.
      Lorikeets, cockies etc all climb all over you & invite themselves inside houses. If you feed them, rosellas will mostly sit in the trees watching it all & wait until the human's gone & then fly down to eat the scraps, but they're really not willing to come close to humans, even for a free feed

      I don't recommend housing them in a cage outside 24/7. I put my birds outside on my deck only on nice weather days and I stay with them as hawks come to my yard.

    Ciao, ho trovato con piacere il tuo canale. Noi da 8 anni conviviamo con calopsite e cocorite e per la prima volta, qualche settimana fa, abbiamo adottato una Rosella. Si chiama Cleopatra ha 6mesi e da piccolina si è rotta una zampa così hanno dovuto separarli dagli altri per curarla. Purtroppo non è più stata accettata in voliera. Era sola e triste così abbiamo deciso di regalarle una nuova casa. Ci stiamo informando il più possibile, ma ci siamo accorti che pochi siti parlano di questa specie. Ci piacerebbe sapere più possibile. Stiamo cercando di capire i tuoi video, ma purtroppo parlando poco inglese non riusciamo a capire tutto. Hai dei video trascritti di modo da poter tradurlo in italiano? Grazie e complimenti Noemi Barbara e Giovanni. 🤗🙏

    I adopted a very sick rosella 2 days ago. It had been kept in a cage for over a year maybe longer by a hoarding family. He or she is in terrible shape they kept her caged in a dark room under a horse blanket never cleaned her enclosure and had he/she living with 3 dogs. I now have her coming up 48 hours and she has only been in her cage to sleep. She is already sitting on my finger and rides around on my shoulder the entire day. She however is awful at flying. I don't think her wings are clipped but she obviously just hasn't a clue. She smashes into everything and hyperventilates. I can't believe how bad a shape she is in but I'm so amazed with her or his progress in such a small amount of time.

    • @Loveofpets
      @Loveofpets  Рік тому +1

      Awh, that's so sad how she was kept. She can't fly because she probably never let her out to fly and has lost all muscles in the wings and chest. She should be able to build them up again slowly

    I used to have a pet crimson rosella many years ago. He was parent reared, but he got tame with me. He would perch on my hand, arm or shoulder, feed from my hand and come when called. But, it is true, they HATE being petted or touched, it's just not in their nature. So people need to realise this is TRUE before they get one as a pet... as many people make the mistake that they think they will be able to win the bird over with love or training, but I WON'T WORK.

      They're for aviaries. We keep ours in an outdoor aviary, partitioned from the other birds and evacuate him to a large indoor flight cage during the brutal Arizona Summers and the odd Winter frosts. He interacts with me via sounds and body language, but he's not a pet and won't tolerate handling.
      Folks who would like friendly grass species pets should go with Bourkes.

I was told rosealla will kill budgies when breeding...also that rosealla must be kept in pairs only. But I dream of having a colourful flock of non breeding birds. What do you think? Rosellas are intelligent and feisty - they like to challenge and provoke you, so you have to show a little back-bone, otherwise they will terrorize you and your other animals.
    They don't get upset over that, but they will berate you, it's totally ok. Very independent and not like other parrots.
    I don't agree, they are wonderful pets, but not what most people are looking for.
    It's not a cuddly fluff ball - it's a little attack dinosaur. :)

    Me: I’ll never own a rosella they’re so annoying and dumb in general!
    Uhh ok here I go, I got a rosella that lost it’s upper beak, when I got her she was only bones and feathers.
    He’s doing better everyday, I’d say he’s very excited to explore, sadly due that he was and still is underweight he’s not allowed out of his cage to prevent that chance he’d hurt him self. (His chest bone was so incredibly sharp, we thought he won’t make it.) Also he’s not fully healed yet but he already practices flying in his cage! Also it’s not that easy to catch him in order to additionally feed him anymore.
    I don’t mind if he’ll remain wild, I’ll be happy if he’ll heal successfully.

      @Loveofpets  11 місяців тому

      Unfortunately this is what can happen when you get another bird and the bird enjoys the other bird more then you.
      Your Rosella is protecting your Quaker.
      Keep them separate and work on each bird separately. Try clicker training.
      Avoid housing them together.

      Hi. I have never bred Rosellas before but I know they are a sensitive species for breeding.
      It could depend on their age, diet, health, experience as parents or environment that is causing them to do this.
      Some birds never become good breeders or good parents.
      I would avoid putting a light in the nest box as darkness is needed for the chick's and the parents.

    When I was young, our budgerigars were always allowed out of their cage. They went in to feed and sleep but otherwise went where they wanted. As an adult, I have had parrots and have found that letting them out can be costly. They are destructive to anything cloth or wood. I have had to replace woodwork around window due to their chewing. I also have had some who would attack me because of jealousy of my other loved ones, human, canine or another bird. My Yellow Naped Amazon has shredded my ear, scalp and eyebrow on more than one occasion!
    Will an Eastern Rosella chew on wood like furniture or woodwork or cloth items, like upholstery or curtains? If not, it sounds like the perfect bird for me. I don’t care to handle or cuddle a bird. I enjoy their antics, sounds, songs and company. I just can’t have any family member being destructive!

    • @Loveofpets
      @Loveofpets  Рік тому

      It's possible that they would chew objects in your home, however their beaks are small and not has destructive as an Amazon or larger birds. Make sure to have plenty of toys that they can shred and chew on. Have a play stand or play area with toys that will keep them entertained and hopefully they won't chew anything else. Keep an eye on them and distract them from the area that you don't want them near.

    Its very hard to brand a whole species of parrot with a characteristic cos their such individuals they can be so different. For example this rosella speaks which iv never seen before. But i do read and hear the same thing, they don't like human interaction, some might but most don't. Therefore i will stay away from getting one as a pet and cherish the moment when i spot them in the wild. The crimson rosella is prominent where im from
