Its a pleasure mate a mate of mine got a warning letter from a solicitor from someone he did not know about a slip up he made on You tube. He was forced to send the person a written apology and made to remove his video by you tube or face a court proceeding. I must omit it's put me off a little doing videos like you do. I think videos like what you do is great. My mate always as I said before states at beginning of video that the person should be competent before trying to do jobs themselves. Keep up the good work, I enjoy the video you have done. I've renovated a 1990 Honda CBR1000FL , I wish I'd shown on You Tube every stage of the renovation.
Ian Morrison it's definitely something to be aware of, I think what happened to your friend is an extreme case, there's thousands of videos on here that you could say where dodgy.
Did the job this afternoon on my Multi Enduro and sorted the front brake squeak. Thanks for the lesson on how to do it and thanks for saving me a small fortune at my dealer👍 Just need to work on my back brake now😎
Mine squeak on the ol' Hornet, goes away for a little while when I clean the discs. Also get buzzing sound when pulling in front brake lever which it's had since I got EBC HH's put in. It didn't go away after a service in which they cleaned the calipers either. Some people have suggested it could just be it the pads going over the holes in the discs, but no idea myself.
did they grease the back of the pads on the service? had it in the past that dealers won't clean the caliper and pistons, even though they say they have
Greasing the back isn't always needed, sometimes just a good clean of the pads, calipers, and disk bobbins will sort it. If not a thin layer of pad grease stops them singing on vibration
Hi, so i had this squeaky sound whenever i was pushing my moped backwards so i did what you said. i put some kupferpaste on the brake pads and for a couple of days everything was quite. But after 3-4 days the sound is back again and furthermore now they squeak when i brake. What should i do?
Squeaky are not a descendant of motor bikes . In older American cars back in the days of 4 wheel drum brakes . This condition is often due to no curable malady . Try a common brake disassembly and hand sand the disc and pads .
I would refrain from saying grease on back of brake pads. Copper slick is not a grease, its a anti sieze compound. I know what your on about and do what you do regularly. Im just worried we might get a novice who goes to do the brakes and plasters grease everywhere. I dont want to worry you but you could be liable for giving incorrect info if someone follows your video and misinterpreted that grease is ok to use then crashes his bike due to grease all over his calipers and pads. To keep yourself in the clear say at start of video , This job should be done by someone who has knowlege in doing brakes. Good video though. Its good to see more and more bikers putting videos on about bike maintenance
Yes you're right, was more of a slip of the tongue than anything els. I made it clear at the end of the video that this is just how I do it, and does by no means supersede any user handbooks or manufacture guides. Think it was also clear in the video what products I used on the brake pads. I'll be sure to watch what I say in future videos! Thanks for watching, and Happy New Year
Actually, brake grease is precisely what you put on the back of brake pads where the piston contacts them, and also on brake pad pins. There are numerous products you can check out such as CRC, Super Lube, Permatex, etc...they are all brake grease products.
NO -Do not put grease on the back of the brake pads. IT WILL find a way onto the pad material; there is a reason why EBC say not to do what you are doing.

Thanks for the vid as my Multi has just started having squeaky brakes so will give it a go👍
Neill
Give it a shot! Just make sure you use the proper anti squeak paste you can buy, don't just use any old grease.

Glad it helped you👍
Very helpful video. Lots of good information here. Thank you for sharing this.

And thank you for watching!👍👍
I will correct my rear brake noise today using this tip. Just a touch of the proper grease should solve the issue. No more singing brakes!
+Tom Glander
Yes be sure to use the correct grease, not just any old grease. Not sure I made that clear enough I'm the video
Right. I'll get some product formulated specifically for high heat use on brake backings. The cure is coming! Thanks again.

No worries Tom

Yeah they have greased them with what looks to be copper grease.
Strange that it hasn't helped
Thanks for this, mine doesn't squeak going forward, only when i push it backwards... any idea what that might be?
Thats normal when moving the bike around, but squeaking under braking needs looking at.

You don't wonna be using coper paste! It's a special anti squeak paste
I see. Thanks. So basically i have to buy anti squeak paste, wipe the coper paste and apply the new one ?
Yes m8 I did mine again the other day. The anti squeak paste has a higher heat tolerance
Apologies if I didn't make that clear enough on the video
It was clear enough i just wasnt paying attention :) my bad
How about rear brake service video Also what size tool was used ?
Darrell
Sure can look into doing that! Can't remember off the top of my head what size, think the calliper bolts are 13mm
@lXYI talks about good and bad break sounds with real break sounds
Great video. I noticed a comment an an answer below in another language. Can you please translate that if that is not much of a problem? Thank you.
He was asking if I plan to upload videos in German, as there's only a small hand full of Germans that do instruction videos
Good tips, thanks for sharing!
You're very welcome👍😜
Sometimes they just squeal no matter what. Never had that problem with Ferodos, but with TRW-damn they squel like crazy.
It works, thanks a lot
Glad it helped! Had to do mine again last week
