Neocolor IIs are so much fun. I can use them for anything. A good set of 15 can do wonders. Indeed, heat is an issue, but except in the heat of the summer, they are an excellent choice
I have Mungyo watercolor crayons. It was so much fun and I didn't expect to enjoy it so much. For the price I couldn't NOT recommend it. I hope anyone interested in sketching, whether urban or any subject would consider water-soluble crayons: They are lighter to pack than traditional watercolor; the crayon format makes it easy to fill large areas in less time than watercolor pencils. And I think watercolor crayons seem to work on a wider variety of paper surfaces than traditional watercolor.
Good point! the only downside is the heat, they melt easily!
I was just thinking of bringing my neocolors out for life drawing at the aquarium, since I have a 10 pack I got on a whim. They're so much more fun to use than I expected!

Thank you for this, I have these from the days when I was a mature student, the box is in pristine condition, I only used it then in a photograph for a graphic design project, now I will start trying them out, recently got wax crayons to use as a resist with watercolour, this is completely different

You can sharpen it. Save the shavings, put it in a palette, dissolve it with water and let it dry. You can use it again dissolving it with water. It will work as watercolour.

I’m not using water soluble crayons for Urban Sketching. Right now I’m using watercolors, watercolor pencils, colored pencils, gouache, & ink mostly. Thanks for sharing this wonderful medium & techniques for Urban Sketching. 💕

Yes, they open a lot of possibilities
In cooler weather I enjoy the crayons, but in the summer I prefer colored pencils and ink.

My crayon sketches smudge in my sketchbook :( am I doing something wrong? I love using them, but smudging is ruining the sketches when the sketchbook is closed.
Yes it does that. I place a sheet of paper when I have both sides with crayons.
