I love rewatching your videos Sandi... this one always cracks me up! dont worry, I'm sure we've all overlooked something like that at some stage or another... It's good to know we're all human
I loved this video. Of course I would have loved to see the dance! Lol!!! I love your new art supplies. Have fun!!! 🙂🙂🙂
🤗 thank you!
I love your personality!
Oh, thank you!
Those trays of color make me so happy‼️
Caran d'Ache Neocolor II have been my favorite tool, after watercolors, since the 90's. I use them so may ways, dry on dry, dry on wet, wet on dry, wet on wet, apply dry then wet and spread with a brush. And the color. changes according to what technique you use. So glad you found them! Nannies bunt cake is a winner
I know this was almost 2 years ago but I promised myself I would stick to the order. You are an absolute joy! Thank you again for all the info and your art that you share!!☺️
I was wondering about buying this material, so I decided to buy it before I finished watching your video. Because your work is very happy! I'm glad to meet your channel.Thank you🧡fromJapan
Thank you!!!
13:32 you're freaking out, and excited.... and singing .... and then you stop and say, "oh wow, I had the camera zoomed in on my face..".... I laughed so hard. You are so fun.
The swatches turned out so nice. I just love your style, artwork, and videos
🤪😂
Try somthing ? take a med sized piece of watercolour paper. Do a drawing in pencil, then soak the paper in a tub of water. After half an hour put the piece of paper on a plastic surface. Draw with neocolor II with the pencil lines helping you. Also try drawing into the art with a watersoluable graphite pencil. You have cheered me up so much. I love your advice
Thank you. I just ordered my Caran D crayons and I'm super excited for them to arrive. After watching this video I'm even more excited.
I love pitt artist pens because they are great pigment movers and blenders! meaning I can paint with gouache and if I made a mistake I can use a pitt pen to kind of push the pigment back into place or reinforce an edge or add tiny details. Or if I'm using alcohol markers, I do the base colors first and use the pitt pens afterwards to add a kind of post lineart that blends well with the marker making a kind of faux lineart. They just work great with adding detail at the end of a project.
Really good tips Stephanie - thank you so much for mentioning them!!! I'll have to try them with my gouache - right now I've only played with them with my color pencils.
OF COURSE you would make a video about neocolors, when I've had them in my amazon cart since hearing about them just *yesterday* lol! This is really going to push me over the edge...
oh noooooooo! I really recommend them - I'm loving them!!! Let me know if you get them and what you think of them!
Love my Neocolor II they are awesome
Yes!!!!!!! 🤗
Love the doggy kiss at end lol
Fiquei impressionada ao ver o quanto eles ficam visíveis no papel preto 😯😯😯😯
Amei esse vídeo!
Muito obrigada ⚘️
How am I just finding your channel?! I’m now a subscriber (and follower on Instagram). I love the neocolors III, too. I bought a small pack of the non-water soluble variety, but they’re not as blendable and luscious. However they are water resistant, which makes them fun with watercolors. Now excuse me while I go binge on your other videos....
WELCOME Julie!!! So glad to have you here!!!! I'm so glad you're enjoying the channel - and I LOVE a good binge watcher - hope you enjoy the other videos as much!
I have so many swatch cards from trying to get everything in rainbow order so it fits my use, too.
Steve at Mind of Watercolor made a suggestion that we should play with our colors just to see what they do, not necessarily to paint something. I have to agree that just dropping colors and seeing them play is a favorite pastime for me lol. And the. I end up with a bunch of collage papers🤗
I like the idea of using them for collage papers - if I collaged that is - I think my collage days are over. I usually do my swatches in a sketchbook and they always make me smile when I flip through them and see the color charts!
You just made my day Sandi! SO ordering these. Thx girl!
🤗🙌🤗
Your joy is contagious! ❤ Thank you for sharing it with the world! Just ordered my first Neocolor ii’s and found your videos while researching them more. This vid made me glad I ordered them! 🎉
Love it all 😍😍👏😍
I got my faber castel Pitt pens when I was travelling in Cologne, the whole Pitt pens display was ✨ heavenly ✨!!!!
🙌
First, those glasses: I am IN LOVE with that color. I need them🤩😍.
I have the 40 set of neocolor II and have purchased open stock, too. I cut off a bit on the end of each and put them in half pans to use as watercolors and so they could pop in a pallet for easy transport. I found I was using a wet brush to pull off color to paint with so this made sense to me. A little color goes a long way and they are so worth the price; they do not disappoint. Thank you for the video!
ohhhhh that's a great idea!!!! very creative. Thank you about the glasss - could you tell they have scratches all over them - ooppps - I love them too much to throw away. Thanks for watching!
@@sandihester they look good! No scratches were noticed lol. The color looks great on you and the shape is good on your face. If the RX is still good 👍those are keepers.
1 23 ohhhhh THANK YOU! They are actually just CHEAP non prescription glasses I found at a book store. I only buy cheap glasses 😂
@@sandihester yes! Zenni optical is the reason I have a rainbow of glasses🤓
Thank you! So last night here in San Diego we had an unexpected rain storm. It poured!! And I forget it had a huge cup of my neocolor ii out on the patio! Now I don't know if I can save them. I'm so sad. They all look gray but I know they're is gold inside. Has this happened to anyone else? I fished them out of the garbage. Lol
OMG!! I love making colour charts with new supplies! AND I love my Neocolor crayons! Now I want the big tin too... :D
Josefina, it's my favorite part of getting new supplies and they are so useful!
Those neo colors work really well for markmaking over acrylics.
I agree!!!
I love love love my neocolors either dry or activated. They are so much fun!
Totally agree!
I would just like to point out, your new Faber Castle markers, you need to store them horizontally. If you leave them in the cup, they will stop working after a while. Lay them flat. They are lovely markers and work very well on Yupo paper.
REALLY?!?!? Oh my goodness - I had no idea - RUNNING to my studio now to lay them flat!!! Eek - thank you for that tip!
It tells you on each marker to store them horizontally 😊 in tiny writing 😏
Gillina Cook I see that now! Man alive - thank you!
I am really thinking about getting a set of Caran d’Ache! Thank you for sharing. Fran
Let me k ow if you get them and what you think of them. I really love them!
LOL you are so cute and funny! I'm feeling the love!
thank you!!!!!!!
Know just what you mean about colour charts Sandi,I put them up on the wall in my studio for quick reference. There is something magical about Caran dashe products, try the non water soluble ones ,they are such an important part of my Art goodies.x
The non soluble neocolor?ive been wondering how different they are from the water soluble ones.
That looked FUN!! Nice work
it was! thanks for washing the windows!
Yes I think caran dache neo colours are super fun, of course your video is the bomb! Now art supply wish list is longer.
uhoh - sorry about that but I am glad you liked the video!
I totally relate to the excitement!
🤗
I just bought Caran D'Ache small Neocolor II for my birthday. They're simply fabulous!
I love doing swatch charts. And I always rearrange the colors. If it is a large set (like my 150 prismacolor, and the 120 polychromos), I cut squares of paper for a swatch of each colour with the colour name. That makes it easier to arrange the colours how I want them. I usually end up going from yellow, through orange, red, purple, blue, green, and into the browns (both premiers and polycolor have some greens with brown tones). Anything else - black, greys, etc. - go at the beginning or the end.
Ok, Susan, I LOVE THIS IDEA of the color square swatches - that makes a lot of sense - thank you for sharing it here and I hope others read this comment. Thank you so much for taking the time to share that!
I love swiss brands ❤
I love Neocolours! I use them all the time. Perhaps my most-used items in my studio
I’m loving them too - quite addicting!
The editing is hilarious in this one! The swatching part omg! I love how your personality shows in your editing style!
Really appreciate that!
Love your channel! They have such a homey vibe!😊👍🏾
Awe - thank you!
The caran d’ache have been on my buy list for a while! They look even better on dark paper 😍
I'm really really really loving them!
Sandi Hester currently have bigger fish to buy 😆 my 22” monitor/tablet isn’t linking to the pen since my iMac auto updated to that newer update that came out a while back which is 64 bit and tablet is 32 bit 😑
I’ve organized my crayons & art supplies that way since I was a little kid (and I still do). So satisfying!!! Neopastels are awesome. 🌈❤️🥰 Beautiful work!!
Adrienne, really?!?! I just love that you have done that since a child. I would have loved doing that as a child with my crayons if I had thought of it. A new set of crayons was always so magical but color coding them would have taken it to the next level. Thank you for the kind comments about my work AND thank you for watching!
Sandi Hester Yeah, I was an odd kid 😂😂😂 I also used to love the paint sample cards from hardware stores. 😂😂😂 Im so happy I found your channel (recently). Thank you for making awesome videos! 🤗❤️🌈
@@adrienneanderson7368 I wouldn't call that odd - I would call that in tune early to color and creativity! I'm soooo glad you found the channel too - I'm so happy to have you at my YT family! Mind me asking how you found me?
Sandi Hester I think one of your videos was on my home screen feed? Maybe from other videos I watch similar to yours?
Adrienne Anderson ok, that’s good to know! Thank you!!!
That's hilarious ! I did the same with with the second layer of the Neo II when I got them !
Corrie, I'm hearing that a lot - that is so weird that they don't do a better job explaining how their product comes - BUT it is a REALLY fun experience to find that second layer!
yep...kookie is my normal...and...check out Sophie mcpike who uses neo 2's,as paint...pretty trippy...
Happy colour yay! I run an art shop, my product has to be in colour order on the shelves.. it makes me happy! Oh and colour charts are a thing of joy…. Currently trying to talk myself out of buying a full set of inktense pencils… my sensible art friends say just buy the colours i need…but… a full set…. Its a happy place!
Oh and you can use the Lyra graphite pencils (the water ones or the water resist ones) to make some different affects. I do like yo put my water brush to parts … or even a blender rub to bring a little shine to spots. I usually avoid all shine but this can be nice.
Neocolor 2s are to be activated with water. When they dry they wont smudge or more. They also have the neocolor 1s that are not water soluble snd prrfotm the same way. Lovely material to work with
Good info! Thank you!!
Ha ha, I agree with you re: the quarantine for art supplies! I've really struggled with that aspect whenever I've ordered anything. I just want to open it as soon as it arrives! Aaaarrrggh!
The struggle is real!!! love it!
ohhhhh, AND I'm also LOVING the podcast - really really enjoying it!!!!
@@sandihester Thanks Sandi! We love recording it - it's so interesting to chat to another artist about all of these topics.
I bought that Caran d’ache set when I visited Nashville because Jerry’s had them at quite a discount. I just recently searched them and now want to lay with them!
I am having those “conversations” with my hubby too 😆 These oil pastels literally gave me chills! And water soluble?!? After your favourites video I whipped out my own oil pastels and mucked around. I LOVE my creamy Sennelier’s but these might be more compatible with my water soluble oil paints. Beautiful work as usual! Thanks Sandi ❤️
Katherine - I can not even express how much I'm loving these wax pastels - they have a smoothness to them that I haven't found in other wax pastels - they are DELICIOUS!!! Highly recommend!
Sandi Hester just ordered the 15 set 👌 as a taster 😋
@@katherineallsopp2687 really?!?! - ok, let me know what you think after you try them!!!
Your colour organization is my perfect. I’ve been trying to figure out a few ways but I always get messed up with where yo put the purple/violets (cuz I love them) when I don’t start with yellows … anyway I realized in someway I had the old put the ones you like first thing messing with how the colours move along in my pallets! But I got over that which helped thinking of which group is my favorite (almost all of them at some point) and that whole thing about misleading colour names! Then doing the arranging all over and redoing charts! I hear ya! And that’s why art takes so much time! Ha! :)
😂 yes, one of the many reasons art takes so much time!
My budget for supplies just tripled! I'll cancel whatever I need to so I can try these goodies out! Love the marks, LOVE the wax pastels!
oppppps! Sorry about that! Thanks for watching!
OMG! The same thing happen to me when I bought my Neopastels!!! I found the other tray a week later!🤣
WHAT?! They need to do a better job of marketing. It's really well made but it is hard to see that second tray! Thanks for watching!
You should really, truly explore the wet side of Caren Dash crayons!
Color cooky here too. The neo 2s are one of the best mixed media supplies I own IMHO. You might have tried the neo 1 s by now and you would probably really like those too❤.
Yes, I may have to try them!
Joy to watch 😊 Caran D’ache makes Neocolor I, which are like the II, but they’re not water soluble.
Bridgette that’s actually what I wanted were the non soluble but the site I ordered them from made it a little complicated. I wonder if the texture is different? I’m finding that these do smudge onto the other page in my sketchbooks 😭
@@sandihester The texture seems the same to me so you’d probably get the transfer with them as well 🙁 But maybe you could order a couple of colors from a place who sells them open stock and see? Found your channel this morning when I was watching some art supply haul videos and subscribed! Really enjoying your channel😊
brigitte McCray well that’s good to know because they were EXPENSIVE 😳! I’m so glad you found the channel - thrilled to have you here and I’m SO glad you’re enjoying it 🤗
Haven’t finished the video yet, and I know it’s been 2 years, but I would LOVE to see you use the Pitt markers in some more art. Even just in your sketchbook. I love them but don’t use them enough. And most videos on them go to lettering, which I’m not into, instead of drawing.
Sandi -- I too adore Caran d'ache neocolor watersoluble -- i also have the NOT watersoluble wax crayons. But I never never got this complete set and I have been to Geneva many times. Why didn't I buy the full set? What is the matter with me?I love Caran d'ache. ALSO I notice in your drawings of pencils you have my favorite pencil -- the Papermate disposable. I feel bad that it's not refillable but it is the best pencil for so many things -- like signing a drawing for instance. And in Geneva they have this pencil but it is a different color. I buy a box of them whenever I see them because I'm afraid they'll stop making them. Thank you for all the information you give and your inspiring and inspired work!
Thank you so much! Yes, I like that pencil too!
I’m sure you know this by now, but thought I would mention it anyway. If you place a sheet of wax paper in between the drawings, it will keep the wax from transferring from the pressure of your new drawing. I hope that makes sense...
Yes, I do that. I would just like to NOT have to do that.
@@sandihester I understand completely!
I love doing colour charts but I’m not as organised as you. And if that was a big long roll of soft pastels I would be speaking gibberish from joy. I absolutely totally get it. I am so tempted to get the full set of Sakura Craypas oil crayons. But I'm not doing oils at present.
😀😀
.....yes, I feel the love
Loved this comment - made me smile 🤗
Such fun seeing your reactions to the unboxings particularly the caran D’Ache
How are you getting on with the Neo Color crayons?
Thank you! Oh man, I love them so much!!!
💕
These seem so nice, also if u want to adventure more with markers u should definitely try (copics) they are expensive but they amazing !!
I considered copics but decided I didn't want to deal with the bleed through
They used to sell the full set of 126 all in one tin that has three layers.
I just got the full set of necolor ii this year after having used the 40 set for years + some extras I gathered along the way😬, but my tin isn’t red on top! 🥺Love the color range but have no use for the metallics. Oh and the Pitt brush pens are fantastic! 😙. Anyway great video thanks for posting!
Sennelier oil pastels are amazing also. 👍🏻
Wow, the full set!!! 👀. Nice! What color is your tin on top??? And how many layers did it come with? I also LOVE SENNELIER!!!
@@sandihester it is red on top and bottom with a row of crayons at the top and mountains (alps I guess) in the middle. Not bad, but the full red tin is a classier design! :-) I just wish I’d been able to get the previous full set w 120 colors before they discontinued them, I think due to lightfast ratings. However since I use neocolors primarily in sketchbooks and coloring pages I wouldn’t have worried too much about that...i can but dream. I’m pretty happy w my set regardless.
Jill C im really happy with mine too and I mainly use mine in sketchbooks too
Sandi, if you like the smoothness, try DIPPING the neocolor IIs in water and then draw with them. It feels like painting with a crayon. That's my favorite way to use mine (i have the small set)
WHAT?! OH MY GOODNESS I love love love this idea - thank you for sharing that tip! Hope you are doing well!!!!!
Yep! Dip the end of the crayon in water like you would wet a brush. It's fun!
love this but talking myself out of them…haha..for now. I think if I had to pick between Sennielier oil pastels and these crayons, I would do the oil pastels! yummy
Totally get having to pick between supplies!!! 😂
Fiquei um dia todo só assistindo seus vídeos já me escrevi no canal parabéns
On and i use mine by a waterbrush taking the pigment and putting that on my paper etc
Hey Sandi! I’m so happy you like your new supplies! 😄 I was wondering if you could link the set you bought! I would like to buy some of these when I am able. I absolutely love pastels. I’m with you on the oil pastels though I actually prefer pigment sticks and chalk pastels because the oil ones don’t seem to blend as well! These look amazing though!!
Well, good idea! I should have done that - Just did it - thanks for suggesting that. It's comments like this that make my channel better - THANK YOU!
Sandi Hester thank YOU for making content for us to watch 😁 I know it takes a lot of time to make these so I appreciate it!
Скажите пожалуйста, эта восковая пастель оставляет пятна на соседних листах, размывается пальцем?
I have sooooo many color charts. My husband thought I was buying art supplies just to make color charts for a while.
You are cracking me up! HUSBANDS!
These neo colors are basically watercolors in crayon/stick form. I love how you use them and I pray that they never get water spilled on them or get dropped on a puddle, all that beautiful work would get messed up. Do you know if there is a fixative that could be used over these to protect the work? I have a small set and use them like watercolors.
Yes, I use an oil pastel fixative
It took me a minute to figure out how to separate the layers when I got mine but I knew half of them were missing and I was determined to find them. 😂
This cracked me up April! They need to do a better marketing job don't they! Thanks for watching!
Caran d'ache is a great brand. I like the oil pastels the very best of any oil pastels. Not hot on the water soluble neocolor.
I'll have to try their oil pastels. I've been using Senniel (not sure Ii spelled that correctly) brand of oil pastels
You can put a sheet of paper over the page you want to protect.
Thank you!
Pitt pens are great over acrylics, as well. Wonderful for shading-you just have to do it quickly after applying so it will blend. Otherwise, it's permanent. I have the set of 24 Neocolors but now want the big kahuna. I should NOT watch haul videos. EEK....
Uhoh - sorry I'm making you want more art supplies!!! Thanks for the tip!
Sandi yes I love this and I do the same thing Sister. You know I love you right. And Yes I am married for 43 years.
Here is much cheaper to buy sets than separate pens. Interesting that you said the set was expensive. I wonder why.
My dream is getting a full set of these...ive got 2 sets of 40 only cos i got a new set 2hand for under half the new price.
nice!
Did you know... Neocolours work as body paint too 😱😍
what?!?!
Yes!!! I can’t add a picture but if you google “neocolor ii body paint” and look at images it’s so cool! We’ve done it with the kids at festivals!
@@JacobAndEllieDesigns so fun!
Dear, how old does it take you to edit your videos? Thank You 🙏🏻
A ridiculous amount of time 😳
The Pitt pens are India ink hun.
How did you not match the number to missing HALF of them? 😂
Because I’m a total idiot and can’t count 😂😂😂
@@sandihester 😂 😂 😂 I wish I could live in your world
😂🤗
If you're having trouble pronouncing it, pretend the company name is "Karen Dash." ;p
Well that’s a great tip - thank you!!!! Now for me to just remember it 😂
