    Caran d'Ache Neocolor II have been my favorite tool, after watercolors, since the 90's. I use them so may ways, dry on dry, dry on wet, wet on dry, wet on wet, apply dry then wet and spread with a brush. And the color. changes according to what technique you use. So glad you found them! Nannies bunt cake is a winner

    Try somthing ? take a med sized piece of watercolour paper. Do a drawing in pencil, then soak the paper in a tub of water. After half an hour put the piece of paper on a plastic surface. Draw with neocolor II with the pencil lines helping you. Also try drawing into the art with a watersoluable graphite pencil. You have cheered me up so much. I love your advice

    I love pitt artist pens because they are great pigment movers and blenders! meaning I can paint with gouache and if I made a mistake I can use a pitt pen to kind of push the pigment back into place or reinforce an edge or add tiny details. Or if I'm using alcohol markers, I do the base colors first and use the pitt pens afterwards to add a kind of post lineart that blends well with the marker making a kind of faux lineart. They just work great with adding detail at the end of a project.

    How am I just finding your channel?! I’m now a subscriber (and follower on Instagram). I love the neocolors III, too. I bought a small pack of the non-water soluble variety, but they’re not as blendable and luscious. However they are water resistant, which makes them fun with watercolors. Now excuse me while I go binge on your other videos....

    I have so many swatch cards from trying to get everything in rainbow order so it fits my use, too.
    Steve at Mind of Watercolor made a suggestion that we should play with our colors just to see what they do, not necessarily to paint something. I have to agree that just dropping colors and seeing them play is a favorite pastime for me lol. And the. I end up with a bunch of collage papers🤗

    First, those glasses: I am IN LOVE with that color. I need them🤩😍.
    I have the 40 set of neocolor II and have purchased open stock, too. I cut off a bit on the end of each and put them in half pans to use as watercolors and so they could pop in a pallet for easy transport. I found I was using a wet brush to pull off color to paint with so this made sense to me. A little color goes a long way and they are so worth the price; they do not disappoint. I love doing swatch charts. And I always rearrange the colors. If it is a large set (like my 150 prismacolor, and the 120 polychromos), I cut squares of paper for a swatch of each colour with the colour name. That makes it easier to arrange the colours how I want them. I usually end up going from yellow, through orange, red, purple, blue, green, and into the browns (both premiers and polycolor have some greens with brown tones). Anything else - black, greys, etc. - go at the beginning or the end.

    I just got the full set of necolor ii this year after having used the 40 set for years + some extras I gathered along the way😬, but my tin isn’t red on top! 🥺Love the color range but have no use for the metallics. Oh and the Pitt brush pens are fantastic! 😙. Anyway great video thanks for posting!
    Sennelier oil pastels are amazing also. 👍🏻

      Wow, the full set!!! 👀. Nice! What color is your tin on top??? And how many layers did it come with? I also LOVE SENNELIER!!!

    • @jillc2700
      @jillc2700 4 роки тому

      @@sandihester it is red on top and bottom with a row of crayons at the top and mountains (alps I guess) in the middle. Not bad, but the full red tin is a classier design! :-) I just wish I’d been able to get the previous full set w 120 colors before they discontinued them, I think due to lightfast ratings. However since I use neocolors primarily in sketchbooks and coloring pages I wouldn’t have worried too much about that...i can but dream. I’m pretty happy w my set regardless.

    Sandi, if you like the smoothness, try DIPPING the neocolor IIs in water and then draw with them. It feels like painting with a crayon. That's my favorite way to use mine (i have the small set)

    Hey Sandi! I’m so happy you like your new supplies! 😄 I was wondering if you could link the set you bought! I would like to buy some of these when I am able. I absolutely love pastels. I’m with you on the oil pastels though I actually prefer pigment sticks and chalk pastels because the oil ones don’t seem to blend as well! These look amazing though!!

    These neo colors are basically watercolors in crayon/stick form. I love how you use them and I pray that they never get water spilled on them or get dropped on a puddle, all that beautiful work would get messed up. Do you know if there is a fixative that could be used over these to protect the work? I have a small set and use them like watercolors.

    • @sandihester

    Pitt pens are great over acrylics, as well. Wonderful for shading-you just have to do it quickly after applying so it will blend. Otherwise, it's permanent. I have the set of 24 Neocolors but now want the big kahuna. I should NOT watch haul videos. EEK....
