In this video, Strymon co-founder/senior analog engineer Gregg Stock and analog engineer Josh Forbes talk about what went into designing Strymon's power supplies.
=======================
Never worry about power again.
Zuma, Zuma R300, Ojai R30, and Ojai are the highest horsepower, most technologically advanced effects pedal power supplies. Each 9V output provides a staggering 500mA of current.
Hear your pedals, not your power.
Our dual-stage topology, optically isolated feedback and advanced multistage filtering allow your pedals to sound the way they were designed to sound.
Never run out of outputs.
Gain more outputs by linking Zuma and Ojai units together. Easily build an expandable, modular power system that can grow with your pedalboard.

I love this documentary-style video! Definitely would like to see more!
Got Zuma recently. Not a gigging musician, just finally had it enough with dirty power from the mains and using separate power supply for each pedal. After I put my entire pedal setup through Zuma I got rid of pretty much all the static hissing from pedals, especially from ODs and fuzzes. Clean power is nice.
Not my first Strymon product, and I doubt it'll be the last. Each one I've got so far has been a fantastic piece of kit. Beautifully designed, engineered, and put together.
Since 15 years i've been using other brand's 'so called' high end power units, then my pedalboard got bigger, then i needed more juice and bought a Zuma and shocked how really quite it is. All hissing and strange oscilation sounds are gone. Now I'm running all my pedalboard with Zuma, Ojaji's chained together. Now the only noise i hear amp switch flicking sound :D I'm so happy AF.
Literally laughing at how qualified these guys are 😂
Power supplies for dark matter detectors - LOL
All of my boards run on Strymon power. It’s the best I’ve tried and if i need more, adding another Ojai is super simple. Well done guys! 🤘🏻
I love videos explaining the thought process in the creation process. Great job strymon.
Strymon knocking it out of the park every time!
Absolutely love how seriously you guys approach power supplies. I run a Zuma on my studio board and a Zuma+Ojai on my main board and it just works so well.
Love my Zuma! Favorite power supply and easy to use and fits well with Strymon and other pedals.
Just got an El Capistan. Exactly what I was looking for in a delay. So musical, so lush and does not get in the way. It kicked my Reverb Rv-6 pedal off in the process. Guess I should feed it clean power now, just seems right
Essa é a fonte que eu uso! Qualidade é o nome dela! Parabéns, Strymon!!!!
I have the Ojai & Zuma and love it!! Serves my need!!
Just got my Zuma & Ojai today! Wiring it up right now and very excited to get rid of that noise floor
I have been running dual Ojai R30s for a several years now and they are fantastic. I'm not at all surprised that they were designed by overqualified aerospace geeks! So awesome!
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video! I’d been looking for a new supply, and this makes it a no-brainer. Great to meet the guys responsible, and glad you have the ability and forethought to hire such qualified EEs!
Glad you enjoyed this video, and hope you enjoy your Strymon power supply :)
@@strymon fantastic and building a Strymon focused pedal board this is a no brainer.
Appreciate your efforts and products!!!
Thank you!
Love my Ojais. Thank you Strymon wizards.
I have 2 Zumas running 15 pedals! Just traded up for a second Dig on my board! Looking forward to getting the Iridium! I have had no issues with my strymon Zumas or any other strymon pedals! 🎛
This product works perfectly for removing any hum from my pedalboard. It's worth every penny.
I have continually added to my collection and it seems the pendulum is swinging towards all Strymon wizardry... Simple reason, this video is but a drop in the tone rabbit hole of generosity and love towards individual expression! Thank you Strymon. When's the fuzz coming???
Great video,keep it up!⬜🟣⬜
I have the Zuma and the Ojai. Best power supplies ever
Just bought mines! 💙
Love my Zuma 🎸
excellent stuff.
Noiseless Power Supply, love Strymon
Best pedal power on the planet. 💙
I was very interested to hear the comment that the Zuma can provide additional power for pedals that need it during start-up. In my case I have a WMD geiger counter pro and connecting it to the Zuma will just crash loop continuously. I tried adding a couple of electrolytic caps (like reservoir caps in a tube amp) and that fixed it. I guess the Zuma protection circuitry is just a little too quick in this case. Aside from that though, I think the Zuma and ojai are superb!
Hey Strymon! 👍🏻
Hi 👋
My entire board runs on a Zuma + Ojais and I've never had a single issue with power since they launched. Ever.
Same
Me too 😊
Worth every penny, don’t care about the price. High quality gear, bar none.
Best power supply
It's so pretty
I wound of getting the Cioks DC7. HOWEVER i got the Flint V2 too :D
Can you please make a eurorack power supply
So can you only plug in pedals that require 500 ma? I have pedals that require 150ma, 250ma, etc. Will they be damaged?
Not at all! If your pedal needs less than 500mA, it will simply take the power it needs.

9VAC supply please my old whammy 1 needs it!
Loved the vid! I'd like to know what song you all have playing @1:56?
It's just an original piece of music composed by our video editor, Matt, specifically for this video :)
I have SOOOO many Strymon stickers.....
I got a question ?
I did buy the Strymon Zuma.
It has not a switch off and On
Sooo ?
Do I let it on all the time and is it sucking Energy then all the time , I meant at least the LEDs use energy ?
Will it get hot when letting it on all the time ?
Or do I need to unplug and plug it all the time ?
Should I buy a energy bar with an on/off switch ?
You should unplug or disconnect it when you're not using your pedalboard, either by disconnecting it from power or from using a power strip/energy bar. Zuma has tons of protection built in, so it will fire up all of the pedals as normal when you reconnect power.
@@strymon Thanks a lot 🥰
I just got a deal on a second Zuma but immediately after was bummed because it looks like you cannot chain 2 of those together, it's only Zuma > Ojai (>Ojai, etc) is that correct? I can't add another zuma using the 24v?
We don't recommend chaining Zumas off one another. If you want to use two Zumas but avoid having two long power cables, we'd suggest a two-to-one IEC splitter or something along the lines.
@@strymon right. Yeah, still not terribly clunky doing it that way but I was really excited to do two together because the deal was much better than buying a new Ojai in this case. I appreciate the response! 🤘
wait stephen root works at strymon?
Currently running a Zuma and an Ouija that is powered by the Zuma. Can I run 2 Zumas with one being powered by the other and delete the Ouija? I need more power slots.
If you don't need more than five more power outlets, you could just add a second Ojai and connect it to the 24V THRU of the first Ojai. You could even chain in a third Ojai if you needed to. If you wanted to add a second Zuma instead, it would not be connected to the first Zuma. Both Zuma's would be connected to separate AC outlets on your power strip or other electrical outlets.
Perfect! Second Ojai it is! Thank you👍🎸
Boss ACA out 12volt or 9 volt?
Hey there! Any Boss ACA pedal will not work on a regulated 9V supply. The ACA power supplies were unregulated, so the 9V supplies actually put out around 12V DC when loaded down with a Boss pedal.
It’s a pity you chose such a poor connector for the power input - mine needs wiggling to maintain connection.I hope Boeing uses more robust methods!
Actually, I think it's more the cable they chose. I have to use the power cable from my old supply; it works a treat.
Lemon tree,/lemons 🍋 😉
I've heard and seen a lot of Quality Control issues with the power cables themselves, outlets, general hardware. I'm a Strymon fan as well but they've been eclipsed by the Cioks DC7 when it comes to power banks imho.
I wish they had an option for a standard a/c plug like the Voodoo Lab Plus 2’s so.
Hey there! The best solution we can recommend if you want an AC output is to use an IEC splitter with an AC output. These IEC splitters still allow you to run just a single power cable to your board, while giving you two connections: an IEC end that connects to Zuma’s 100-240V input, and an AC outlet (just like the end of an extension cord) that can be used to connect the power supply for AC pedals, to connect pedals that have attached power cords, or just connect other utilities (like a USB wall outlet).
Yeah you can talk about aerospace etc but my Zuma is DEAD a minute before I go onstage. Had to re-arrange the board within 5 minutes with my second power supply which on the same board with Zuma but working without any problem at all. Not happy to spent high $$$ with this kind of quality.
Hey there! Sorry to hear about that. Please feel free to email support@strymon.net and we can help you out with any issues you might be having.
Mine doesn’t work , brand new pretty much and has one port that doesn’t work . I shoulda kept my iso 5 . Bummer . Didn’t expect this problem from such a high end psu .
Hey Joshua! We're sorry to hear about that. Please email support@strymon.net and our support team will get you taken care of ASAP :)
Guitar guys: pfft, digital
Strymon: no, digital perfection*
Toto is not too impressed.
Ok. high tech. convinced of the quality. But, ...... so boring. So..... typical engineer....shit.
What a joke.
It's designed for those that can tell the difference.
