What an amazing man. A living legend... I could sit for hours and listen to his stories about Chevrolet engines. I'd love to take a peek at that 65 Chevelle and his Classic Chevrolet speed parts.
That building is Soo full of racing history buried all over. Been in there a ton of times
WOW.. Great Interview.. Great Man....
Unbelievable story! This man is a total legend who lived & breathed the dawn of the muscle car era

Very young guy who knew a ton of information at his age back then , What a fantastic video . Thanks Patrick !
Thanks for this interview! What an amazing man! 👍👍
Very interesting gentleman. Very cool guy. First thing I spotted was his Bridgeport mill. I love having one myself.
That was awesome Patrick
Thanks Cliff for sharing
Patrick, what a mind blowing interview with a genuine legend. This guy is the epitome of raw muscle creations. He worked with his mind along with tools, no tuners or chips ( no disrespect) to those choices. He believes in the legendary three C's of the muscle car era. Patrick, super interview with this man. Respect your commitment to bring us news of the way it was. Big blocks never die. Thanks, Raymond
Wow what a treat to see a living 1960's Chevy racing legend/engineer from the past and still present. I'd love to sit down and buy that guy a beer and hear a couple stories. Pat please do us all a solid and dont leave us hanging and hit the local watering hole and let him tell us his favorite memories of the past.
I could listen to his story all day... Great interview....
Gm needs let cliff handle the DOD fuel management problems they are having in the LS engines
Thank you for sharing this video! There is no substitute for talking about cars with the guys that actually built, raced and lived with these cars in this era!!!
What an incredible man indeed! Absolutely love his stories, his sense of humor, and the awesome display of knowledge that he possesses! Thanks for sharing this with us Patrick!👍😊😎
Wow ! What an amazing story, I learned quite a bit from Cliff ! Keep up the excellent work Patrick and thanks !
Wow! What a great and interesting video! Ed Cole’s son, Nick, is a good friend of mine. Nick came down to Louisiana to work for a cattle rancher/race car driver from my hometown. We met in the early 90’s and also raced our hot rods against each other. He would often speak of his dad and all the ideas he had for the small block Chevy. Nick ended up marrying a good friend I graduated with. They now reside in Texas. It’s a small world folks. I bet Cliff could’ve helped Junior Johnson keep his big block motors together in the early 60’s. Junior said if the motor stayed together, he would always win. Broken valve springs or busted pistons would shut him down in many races.
Wow, this is the best video I've ever seen of yours. Great stuff!
Cool story. Thanks for sharing
That's pretty cool. I for appreciate the history of early American Performance! The mid to late 50s started the Performance that we still have today! Great Video Patrick!
Fantastic Knowledge . The man is a plethora of information. Moral of the story . Stay on top of things.
Great interview, thank you for that! Here is a Chevelle story for you. Back in 1975 I met a GM of Canada marketing manager. He told me an amazing story about a 1967 Chevelle SS he special ordered for a customer in Winnipeg Manitoba. The customer wanted his Chevelle built with the 1966 L-72 427 Corvette motor. The COPO was approved and the 427 Chevelle was built. However the train carrying the car was derailed and the Chevelle was destroyed. The ordered was placed again and on four more occasions; five times in all the 427 Chevelle never survived the delivery process. As the GM manager said to me 'I guess that 427 Chevelle was just not meant to be'. The customer never did get his 427 Chevelle even with the personal efforts of a GM manager to guide the order process.
wow - love it - that would great to see that car to come out of storage and meet Cliff.
This is the guy I would want for a neighbor
Wow! Thanks for the History lesson! What a cool guy!! Cliff Gottlob☮️🙏
This man drove a then new 67 L88 in the dead of winter ftom St. Louis to Daytona. Bear in mind a 67 L88 does not have a heater.
I'd say the heat from the engine alone was all he needed, big blocks put off a lot of heat,I know (72 Chevelless SS454)
Not enough though. Dick Guldstrand did the same thing when he picked up Roger Penske's L88 in January 1966 and drove it back to Pennsylvania. They gave him a blanket but he still like to froze on that drive. 😀
Fascinating interview!
Legend
That was awesome
Dang! I didn’t see this one coming. I kinda wish it was a longer video
EXCELLENT VIDEO!!!
And even more props for the increased frequency of video uploads lately!👍
Wow great information!! I'd love to sit and talk to this guy
One of the best Chevelle interviews on your channel and UA-cam
Very interesting character. He sure laughs a lot... Reminds me of Chet Walters ink specialist in Beverly Hills Ninja. 😂
Awesome 😎
A 2019 Corvette Stingray with base smallblock engine is light years ahead of the cover '65 427 big block.👍
1st Rockford Illinois Corvair view
What an awesome video Patrick! I’ve never heard of that guy but I’m going to research him and his racing career now. Thanks for sharing!
Patrick , I'm thinking you may have stumbled across a nitch here, maybe actually sit down and interview these guys and let them tell they're stories .
That would be amazing to see.
● Refreshing to hear authentic back stories of automotive history before guys like him pass away.
● Imagine if all of these intelligent men had cellphone camera technology back then to record their success and failures.
What cool days to be involved with cars... modify them as you saw fit... ordered them with options that you wanted.....nowdays you get what they produce...all computers.....I love points ignitions too
I sure did enjoy that, but can you go back?
that’s badass 👍👍
Awesome thanks
I saw a tuxedo ❤
Good stuff!
