One thing I love that the cube can do is that it can turn into around the size of a double bed once you take all the seat head rests out and the tilt all the seats back.
I have had a 2004 Cubic for 3 years now. Done 70k kms in it. I. FEEL. VINDICATED. A few little owner's notes, join the groups, avoid the CVT, get a decent throttle controller. My other car is an '06 Saab 9-3 Linear Convertible but I always still giggle when driving the Cubic. I plan on doing an engine swap eventually but I can't get passed the practicality. I am also a Disability Support Worker and have had 5 people, 3 walkers, shopping and luggage in it at the same time. I have had fridges, double beds, 300 bricks, helped several people move with it. Also, there's a mob in England that do camper kitouts for them.
Ex-Cube owner here, I am from NZ, I bought a 2008 Cube 1.5L in 2019, sold last year. What attracted me was the boxy, funky look. It's inexpensive to buy, kinda fun to drive, cheap to run, plenty of rooms. The reason I gave the Cube up was .... the WINDSCREEN. Probably because of the boxy shape, angle and design, I changed the windscreen TWICE within a year. Once it was hit by a stone or rock, it cracked. What a hassle. Or maybe just bad of luck? I dunno.
I've noticed a pattern with dealers that whenever used car prices drop off.. stock magically stops being trickled out.. squeeze the supply keep prices high!
It looks fantastic. I have seen a white one in my street years ago and made pictures of it. It reminds me of the boxy daihatsu materia. They probably don t drive sporty but looks 100%. I would prefer the look over any recent car since i don t turn my head for anything recent since years.
Had a 2004 Cube Cubic with the CVT, had mine since 2010 up until 2023. Had a cracked head, the Nissan Micra K12 engine is a straight swap, speaking to a Cube expert in QLD, Cube Cars, they said, apparently it's a common issue with the Cube engine with cracked head. My Cube had a great run, up to the point I sold it to scrap metal.
I had one of these! What I heard is that the auto in 1.4l is worse than the CVT in 1.5l. If you wanted "reliable" transmission, CVT was better choice. Mine didn't have any issues for the time I had it. Except that it was too low, I had coilovers and it always bottomed out on speedbumps lol, not going that low ever again.
Now that Adam and Jim have done the Cube, its time to taken on the example of the boxy kei car done right- the Toyota Rukus(or the Scion xB and Corolla Rumion).
I drove one of these when I was living in Japan back in 2003. Great car for Japan, not so much for Australia. Good thing I like about them though is that they are basically a reshaped Nissan Micra so spare parts aren't in shortage nor will they be for years to come.
I used to service one of these for a friend of mine. Awesome little car, except for the oil consumption. Had to service it every 5000 km, any longer and there would be no oil showing on the dipstick. Great to drive around town, but struggled at highway speeds.
Finally a boxy car! I love the looks for Japanese boxes, cube is definitely the greatest in terms of looks, but after researching the reliability seems off, might get a Toyota Rukus or a Kia Soul instead. Hopefully can see reviews of these here in the future!
I’m in northern Japan now on holiday. It’s shocking to see cars that aren’t that old rusting out . Don’t buy a car from Hokkaido. Snow and salt will do that to a car.
Definitely not what I was expecting to see today but definitely an interesting one to see. All the Cubes I've seen in person have been honestly quite ugly and the MCM guys one is the first I can honestly say looks good. If someone found an auto or manual version, would you recommend it as a first car or not? I've had to laugh that 3 years in a row now (today being the 3rd year) I've had a video by you guys released on my birthday lol 😂 By the way guys putting the pricing and values at the end of the videos with should you buy is a nice touch. Brilliant work as always guy and I look forward to Sunday's video as per usual guys 👍.
Validating! I absolutely adore my cube. It’s so charming and fun, very comfy even for long drives, it spins on a dime. I’m at the point where if mine broke, I’d just go out and straight away get another one. And it’s not just the cube itself. It’s all boxy MPVs. This style of car should be so much more popular. In a cube you even sit quite high. It has all of the benefits of a crossover and none of the downsides, plus huge amounts of interior space and a better boot.
Our 2007 Nissan Cube Axis has survived two car crashes with the others running red lights and stop signs, in both cases, they came off second best to the cube. (New Mercedes & New i30).
In the UK there’s a guy that imports cubes and also buys old cubes and breaks for parts so they’re easily sourced (for now) my car is 20 years old and has or has had all of these problems 😅
The spot in the passenger side footwell for a torch is actually supposed to be for a road flare, it's a standard thing in Japanese imports, took me way too long to find that out with my car, I thought it was for a walking stick but mines not quite at the right angle to fit one
Something cool about any quirky JDM car, but sadly anything with a Nissan badge automatically put it's on the shitbox list. You have cheaply built shitboxes, then you have a Nissan.
Great optics, nice Rays. But: Bio 'airbags' in the rear crumple zone? A quick scan of Cube[ + ic]s for sale here in Japan displays the vast majority of 4wd in the northern snowy rust areas. And, as cubes are so cheap, they'll probably only be given an engine oil change at the 2yearly inspection. I'd probably avoid a recent import.
I got a 2007/8 z11 aurech rider 1,5 cubic cvt Throttle position sensor issue made it feel like it slipped but swapped it for a k12 it's fine and very good, only abit weird on hills but that's it and happily sit at the top ratios with little throttle and I think it it's fairly quick surprised a few people , , cheap to service the gearbox aswell, mannol oil and filters arnt expensive tbh done 20k km in it and on 188k km only issues is slight rust on the rear spare wheel well, and it gets used all over from a workshop to a camper lol, But I love it and it's going no where , getting the underside getting done later the year
As it's the same as a Micra. When the battery goes flat you cannot get into them even with the manual key because the door lock is electric. Cant get inside, cant open the bonnet.
Hayabusa’s are 1300cc, and honestly I dont think itd be worth it. The only time a sports bike engine makes a car quick is when its extremely light weight, not to mention the amount of custom fabrication required (gearbox, driveshaft, mounts etc) would easily double the initial cost to buy a cube
Did Nissan pull those interior materials from a 90's Dodge? Bonus points for cloth seats though Wanted one of these when they first started appearing in Australia as grey imports but they're too old now and the game has moved way on. If it had a 1.6 turbo with a manual it'd still be a compelling option though, especially if there was a diesel too.
😂 wait MCM one 😂 lol John next up Marty and Blair / Moog that would be just complete 😂 not sure if that one has it but passenger seat if you lift the bottom padding theres a shopping basket and storage.
This Cube in particular is kinda ugly...the one that was sold in the US and Canada looks better. Unfortunately almost all of them came with a CVT (the optional transmission was a manual). If you want a literal box on wheels, there are better options out there...the first and second generation Kia Soul or the Toyota Corolla Rumion (2008-2015 Scion XB for those who live in North America).
I can only hope Redriven gets a bunch of subs from the MCM gents...
They truly rock!
Gotta love when other channels colab with each other or get a mention 👍
“Is it about my cube?” - Charles Montgomery Burns.
Hahahahaha
I clicked this video because I wanted to like this comment. 10/10
You have thirty minutes to move your cube
Never thought I would be watching a review for a Nissan Cube
At 43 sec in, I'm yelling OMG. Who in the hell thinks that is okay to carry a boat in that manner.
What in the name of crack-headerey is going on there!?
I had to go back and look !! WOW

3:20 "they're struggling with only 3.8 million subs" LOL, honestly guys, YOU deserve 3.8 million subs !
You guys collaborating with mighty car mods on this is so incredible! Well done and congratulations ❤
Please keep up with the super random items in the practicality section. It’s hilarious. Need stock cubes, cheese bites etc. that was great.
Stock cubes? Organic cheese? Marital aids? I don't know what kind of night out this thing's been through
I own one.
Checks out.
"In the bin" 🤙

Bit like the FJ cruiser
I am in Aus. Shannon's insurance have one free glass replacement per year. Perfect for a Cube
Finn here, I had one and never replaced the windscreen. Not sure if you were unlucky or I was lucky. We use gravel and studded tires in the winter.

What in the illusion is that?
Anyways, time for a small pretentious coffee. ☕
The crossover we weren’t expecting
I love these cars! Always wanted one as a daily.
Also people need to embrace boxy car designs!
Even better about this one is it has flake in the bar.
Totally intentional, too!
I've noticed a pattern with dealers that whenever used car prices drop off.. stock magically stops being trickled out.. squeeze the supply keep prices high!

The 4 speed auto is same as K12 micra, no major issues with the 4sp.
Now that Adam and Jim have done the Cube, its time to taken on the example of the boxy kei car done right- the Toyota Rukus(or the Scion xB and Corolla Rumion).
nissan cube, kia soul, toyota rukus… they all seem to have come from the same school of design 😊
Yes but only one of them came with an R model. The Kia R Soul.
I drove one of these when I was living in Japan back in 2003. Great car for Japan, not so much for Australia.
Good thing I like about them though is that they are basically a reshaped Nissan Micra so spare parts aren't in shortage nor will they be for years to come.

I like that it has a spot for a torch or a marital aid. So many new cars are missing these, very practical.
I somehow find it amusing how the dashboard design of the 2024 GR Yaris is so reminescent of the Z11 Cube's.
This build was awesome, big up to Might Car Mods
Finally a boxy car! I love the looks for Japanese boxes, cube is definitely the greatest in terms of looks, but after researching the reliability seems off, might get a Toyota Rukus or a Kia Soul instead. Hopefully can see reviews of these here in the future!
Great to see the MCM crossover. Now time to review Garbage Times An Car or Tony
Oh god yes please review Tony! :D
@@mysticgreg I'm not a potato farmer from East of Warsaw so I can't tell you what goes wrong with these things - but Jim is.
Do a review of a Delica Mini! My favourite kei car currently
Reminds me of postman pat's vehicle
Yeah lol
You missed the storage compartments in the floor 😢
Also shopping bag hooks at the front and in the boot
My 2004 doesn't have the storage under seats in back and rear seat doesn't split 60/40 like theirs
@@LifeFitTraining5 seaters don't have the under seat storage I find
Spot down there is for emergency flare
Mine still has its flare :D
@@EightNineOne my old stagea has it as well. So tempted to see if it still works
I would personally stay away from ALL Jatco CVT transmissions in the past 15 years. Some Mitsubishis have them too.
Not many people know, but they released a performance version, badged the Pube
Just get the cube and tiida swap them😉😉😉
Marty & Moog would be proud of their little Box
Nice video! Always wanted to get this because of how cute and practical it looks, just hard to find that’s not a CVT.
Just buy the 4eat CR14DE motor version
Cause no one wants to sell their 4sp auto ones. Great cars to have.
The CVTs are entirely fine if they’re serviced.
I’m in northern Japan now on holiday. It’s shocking to see cars that aren’t that old rusting out . Don’t buy a car from Hokkaido. Snow and salt will do that to a car.
I've always liked the cube for it's practicality

A mini mini van
Talking about boxy cars. Can you do a review on the Toyota Ruckus please 😁
Keen to see the Tiida review. Had one as a rental and was epic practically... heard they were reasonably reliable... guess its a jatco cvt as well.
Our 2007 Nissan Cube Axis has survived two car crashes with the others running red lights and stop signs, in both cases, they came off second best to the cube. (New Mercedes & New i30).
Next do the S-Cargo
In the UK there’s a guy that imports cubes and also buys old cubes and breaks for parts so they’re easily sourced (for now) my car is 20 years old and has or has had all of these problems 😅
9:40 I'm surprised the glovebox is the first thing to break on this show with how rough you can be with opening and closing things lol
The spot in the passenger side footwell for a torch is actually supposed to be for a road flare, it's a standard thing in Japanese imports, took me way too long to find that out with my car, I thought it was for a walking stick but mines not quite at the right angle to fit one

You have cheaply built shitboxes, then you have a Nissan.
Did anyone else get confused at 4:40? Where did the bumper go? Haha...
the little circle holder thing in the passenger footwell is for an emergency road flare (I know this because the EL GRAND and SPACIA have one also.)
All JDM cars will, it's a requirement over there
My nephew had one of these . My wife , for whom English is a second language, refered to it as a Nissan Box .😂

I actually like the concept. Can they bring out a new version with better engine/transmission? Even a hybrid?
Adam has a Barrel Bros pointer!
Adams looks smaller 🤏 but I guess it's all on the way you use it 😉
When you did the rubics cube, did you have that playing in reverse 🤔. I know your smart but 😂
I got a 2007/8 z11 aurech rider 1,5 cubic cvt
Throttle position sensor issue made it feel like it slipped but swapped it for a k12 it's fine and very good, only abit weird on hills but that's it and happily sit at the top ratios with little throttle and I think it it's fairly quick surprised a few people ,
, cheap to service the gearbox aswell, mannol oil and filters arnt expensive tbh

But I love it and it's going no where , getting the underside getting done later the year
"What goes wrong?"
1. The fact someone built it
2. The fact someone bought it
Z11 Nissan Cubes are awesome.
Hey guys make a video on a 2008 outlander… would be really appreciated… thanks
"Marital Aid" lol
Though I recognise that little nugget u guys should do a joint venture 🙏🙏
I miss square SUV's that have a tonne of leg room at the front and back.

As it's the same as a Micra. When the battery goes flat you cannot get into them even with the manual key because the door lock is electric. Cant get inside, cant open the bonnet.
Yikes! Bad engineering right there.
I have one. I have opened it with the manual key with a dead battery. The hood release is a manual one. Fuel filler too.
It needs an engine swap, maybe a hayabusa 1200cc engine
Hayabusa’s are 1300cc, and honestly I dont think itd be worth it. The only time a sports bike engine makes a car quick is when its extremely light weight, not to mention the amount of custom fabrication required (gearbox, driveshaft, mounts etc) would easily double the initial cost to buy a cube
