they are quirky cars, if you go to a country where they drive on the left side of the road like the UK, the rear window wraps around the left side instead the right, I read they made the wrap around window that way so the driver can see better.

Grandma had bought one back in 09 when they first came out in Canada and loved it.. The car came with a bunch of odd things one is that carpet square on the dash was something you could order from Nissan It was also a part of a first year
edition if you lift it off underneath there's a matching spot molded into the dash also they had that water drop pattern allover it that rear door was also where they had the factory sub also the red elastic bands were meant to hold small maps and other small light things

Normally, on an emissions inspection, even if the 'Check Engine' light stays off long enough to get tested, the test will bring up a "Not ready" warning and the car will fail, unless the problem stays away after multiple driving cycles!

As for this Cube, do the inside lock controls also depend on electric power? Worse than not being able to get in your car, is being trapped inside it without electric power - especially after an accident!
On my friend's '05 Audi, the key only unlocks the driver's door. His front passenger door lock has failed and it's been permanently unlocked for a couple years now. There's no key-lock outside, and the inside button appears to be electric, with no mechanical linkage. (I haven't checked, but wonder now if ALL his doors are like that!)
There's a bunch of vehicles today using electric-only door locks and latches. Where's NHTSA when you need 'em?!

Once Nissan started using Renault electrical parts reliability went down very quickly.
I have owned 3 Japan made Nissans they were called Datsun in the UK and had very
few problems with them other than the early ones rotted away far too quickly.
Today they are best avoided, they are not in the same ball park as Toyota and even
the latest models from them are starting to use a lot of plastic parts.
The sweet spot for Japanese quality and reliability has been and gone.

In the US there are places that do not require emissions inspections. Kansas is one of them. There isn't a single county or municipality in Kansas that requires emissions testing. So you can get away with a check engine light for quite some time, especially if it doesn't affect driving quality.
In my home state of Georgia, there are only 13 out of 159 counties that require emissions testing. Of course, those 13 counties are where the vast majority of the population live, but still... I live in a rural county that doesn't require emissions testing, so I could legally register and drive an emissions-failing vehicle, no problem.
*Technically,* it's a violation of Federal law not to have a functioning emissions system on a vehicle that was equipped with emissions controls from the factory. But the Feds simply don't enforce that. They leave it up to the states, and as you can see, many states just don't bother.

I remember i had a 2013 Nissan Altima. It drove great for 2 years. I drove it 100k without ever changing the fluid. That was when i novice about cars. One day, it somewhat grenaded on me on the freeway, the rpms dropped a bit, and the car went back to normal. Me and my gf were driving 27 miles and the car rpm started slipping and i would have to put it back into park and drive just to get it to move again, i heard gears grinding and something like a vaccum. This was in March 2020, sold it, and never wanted another Nissan again. I think 2007-2012 are slightly more reliable. But you need to change the fluids religiously, and i really do mean that. My gf 08 Sentra suffered a rear main seal leak, which destroyed the transmission. We drove it for a year with a quart of fluid leaking every 3 days. I replaced it, quiet easy to change by the way and now it drives great, but i do want hwr to sell it

Just cut the catalytic converter out and remove the code from the ECU so it never comes up again with tuning software that's what I would do and have done in the past it works great and you get a little more power without the extra restrictions in the exhaust

I agree with like ninty percent of everything Wizard says and does.
But when it comes to catalytic converter. I disagree.
(I am very aware hes not an exhaust shop)
Usually not worth cleaning out. Especially if it's making some rattling sounds.
But I do believe they could be cleaned. But it might not be worth the labor. (Cleaned meaning, you remove it from the car flip it over. Let some diesel or gasoline sit inside the cat. Then spray w Pressure washer then Finally Compressed air. )
Anyways you just go on 3Bay or prime and you buy the Cat Pipe kit for 65-$120 Complete.
    Should do fine.
I don't know what is in these new Cats, if they are good or not.
But in my area Cats are stolen a lot. Mine got stolen.
I bought $106 Cat + I went out and got Oem Denso Sensor and soldered it.
It's been a few months now and no CEL (not even a blip). No weird smells, noise or anything.
The one for my 06 Prius was actually very Solid & thick material.
And for the car. You put a pull string for the trunk. Some are electric and you can attach from the wheel well or under bumper.. to pull open the lock or manual release thats internal.

Nearly *ALL* automatic transmissions these days, not just Nissan CVTs, are sold with "lifetime" fluid in them. Of course, the manufacturer's definition of "lifetime" might not match yours. Their definition is "until the warranty period ends."
If you want to have *any* transmission last 200K miles or more, at the very least drain-and-fill the fluid every 30K to 50K miles like the Wizard said. If you *can,* you should also replace the filter in there -- of course that depends on how accessible the filter is.
The owner's manual might tell you that you don't need to service the transmission. That's ridiculous. Anything with moving parts and lubrication needs that lubrication refreshed periodically. It's well worth it to extend the life of your vehicle.

On nissans when you do a cvt flush as a certified nissan tech you go into consoult>tcm>work support tools>cvt deterion reset. If you forget this step the cvt will function thinking that the new fluid is as worn out as the last reset. You are welcome for the free nissan info screw them for paying 17 a hour for being a tech. Dear wizard, I took your advice and bought a 99 Lexus gs400. I have loved the power and smoothness, but its the rest of the car that is nickel and diming me to death. I have had to replace the entire front suspension, radiator which was garbage, and brake rotors, calipers, and pads all the way around. I want everyone to know how difficult it can be to find parts for this car. Models with the HID headlights are IMPOSSIBLE to find headlights for! The worse problem is that none of the aftermarket has HID compatible headlights for less than $500! To all fellow car lovers, these are amazing machines, but go with the 430 or the ls400 unless you have better luck with parts than me

Push button or keyless ignition is one thing ,but why do companies have o take it a step further? At least my Toyota has a mechanical door lock. Works with or without the battery (in the car or the key FOB). now starting the car may be a different story but at least I wouldn't get locked out of the car (I know it works because I removed the battery from my fob since I have push button start -- prevents the key from transmitting the signal).
Aside from flushes you need to not whale on the CVTs either . I see people dong this, and while the flushes help, eventually beating on a CVT will also catch up to you. They basically have rubber bands in them that can stretch and that's one downside to the CVT design is the belt can be stretched to a point where it can slip (sometimes in earlier Nissans this would just happen over time, with say the 2010-2016 Nissan Versas it was pretty common for those transmission to fail before 100k, but just outside of warranty so between 60-100k, even if you did the services as you were supposed to - fluid changes every 30-50k).
