California, USA
21st September, 1988
Drums: Steve Ferrone
Bass: Nathan East
Guitar: Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton
Keyboards: Alan Clark
Vocals: Tessa Niles, Katie Kissoon
Nathen East, one of the best and respected bass players this era. Toured with Clapton many times. He is always smiling, happy and enjoying playing his music. Fun to watch.
I just looked at this video again and it hit me that I was at this show at the Shoreline. I think this was during Clapton’s 25 years tour. The show started with a dark stage with Clapton playing an A cappella solo as he walked on stage with only a spotlight on him. Then he broke into the intro to Crossroads. A great entrance.
I was up on the grassy hill behind the reserved seats where nobody sat down on their blankets during the whole show. What a great night!
Yup. He chatted to a group of us (8 or 9) waiting outside the Albert Hall after a concert. Maybe 10 mins but didn't leave until he´d answered our Qs. Also Katie K was very kind. Sadly as I think always Eric was away before we'd left our seats.
what I is admire almost as much as EC's guitar chops is his complete ownership of his status, his place in music history and his right to be on stage to just slay us every time......
Clapton's phenomenal!
Katie Kissoon is beautiful!
tessa too.nathan great
Love Tessa!!
Katie Kissoon - effortless soul and gorgeous with it. Add Tessa Niles (also stunning) not to forget THE Clapton - sheer magic. Knebworth gig was also awesome.
Agreed about Tessa. Her performance with David Bowie brought me here.
Essas duas vocalistas ( Tessa Niles e Katie Kissoon ) brilharam bastante com Clapton. 👏👏👏
Amazing. There's no one like Eric Clapton. He is the all-time greatest guitarist (IMO).
¿What do you expect to recognize with an award to an epic guitarist? as a slow hand, Clapton is God
Still watching in 2022.
slow hand at his best with such class as usual
Does not get any better then Eric Mark going at it wow!
Tessa is an awesome singer- see clapton tokyo 1988, and the few youtube videos of her
By FAR the best live version I've seen 👍👍👍👍👍😎
strawer- have a listen to Tessa in Claptons"tearing us apart" live at Tokyo 1988. She does a solo section at about 2.09 to 2.25 that will amaze you
The serious crew! Niles and mission. Teach me.
Clapton did this with Tina Turner and it was awsome.
Just came in to see Tessa,
Thank you and goodbye.
love the bass
my father said that eric was no good, i doubt he had any idea what he was talking about. rock and roll baby.
Katie and Tessa make this video a delight!
Great song, i listened that theme a few years ago on a DVD with this concert included (Crossroads 1988, with Mark Knopfler).
I Love Katie Kissoon. Gorgeous woman with an even more gorgeous voice.
With Mark Knopfler. Performance improved 10 x
2023
Clapton is amazing - and Tessa Niles and Katie Kissoon are fabulous singers - but Shoreline Amphitheater is not in San Francisco - it's in Mountain View, south of San Francisco and North of San Jose
What, no love for Mark Knopfler playing the second guitar here??!? I mean, it's MARK KNOPFLER a couple of years after "Borthers In Arms". HELLO??!? Plus, the percussion player--Sheila E. Saying this band was LOADED is like saying Michael Jordan could JUMP.
Jordan didn't jump, he flew.
I love Sheila E but I believe Jody Linscott was EC's percussionist during this tour
beautiful girls on backing vocals
@Samueltrad That is so funny,I just saw the best Of Will Farell from Saturday Night LIve the other day!!
@Slapshot59 oh yes...you are so correct.
Audionics could have been better.the ladies r great anyhow. their chemistry with EC is exceptional.
I think I need a bit more cowbell, please!
@strawer thanks, strawer.
Where's Tina?
