Wood Bat Softball leagues are for the real hitters, besides anybody with a juiced ball and composite bat and a decent swing can hit it like this. Basically, the more money you spend on your bat, the further the ball goes, and yes, I swing a 40oz. Debeer Wood Bat. I too, hit homeruns, the real way.

Yes. The bats are not “rec” league legal and probably a little juiced beyond even what an unlimited league would allow. As far as the balls go a full flight softball is plenty hard enough to go this far. Most rec leagues use 60compression balls which these guys could probably still hit out of a major league stadium, but just barely. What I’m not seeing anywhere in the comments is that these guys very large men with power to spare. If you put your average rec leaguer in there with the same equipment they are using nothing is leaving the yard. Being 6’5” ish and 240ish or more and knowing how to swing and hit the ball is what makes this happen. It’s not much different then saying that the only way Barry Bonds hit any home runs is because he was juiced when in reality there is immense talent there to be able to even hit the ball in the first place.
I'm a power hitter, but I miss baseball so much. -- The slow pitch and the lazy stance is just boring. When you get aggravated because you don't hit a bomb the game is individual and monotonous. I have enjoyed games with home-run out rules however.

LOL... they are not hitting "microwaved" balls... They are possibly hitting higher than normal compression balls, but nothing outrageous, that you cant buy yourself. Putting a ball in a freezer does far more to affect the distance that the ball travels. Compression rates on a ball are tested at 72 deg. Fahrenheit. Every degree lower than that adds 5 pounds of compression, making the ball "harder" and dissipating less energy away from the ball when contacting the bat.
Fishey , im 6ft 255 lbs I lift weights and play softball ,I couldnt hit the ball more then 350 feet ,softball feilds are around 300ft long give take cause the ball doesnt travel as far aposed to a basball feild where center feild is around 400ft,...a couple of these guys hit that ball over 500ft id say ,I dont think so the bals is only going 30mph it would hard enouph to hit a homerun in a mlb stadiam with a softball let alone clear it by a couple hundred feet, somethings up here

nick passareli, Depends on the core and compression of the ball used in whatever league you're playing for. The higher the core and lower the compression, the more rigid/less flex bat you'll want. For example, I'm currently in a league that uses .52 cor 300lb balls and am using a Miken Psycho which is a one piece composite bat (Composite is the way to go). For a ball like that, I'd steer away of the two piece bats that DeMarini makes since the barrel tends to flex on contact. Stance absolutely has a lot to do with it too. My baseball stance was pretty crouched and I swung more across the waste. You'll need to get more upright and swing across the chest since the ball comes in at a high arc. Otherwise you're going to pop it up all day.

It’s primarily the Bats they allow them to use in this type of competition, and a harder ball. If you watch these guys play in sanctioned tournaments, Some of them have trouble hitting the ball out of 300 foot parks. In this competition they’re hitting the ball 500 feet.
Some of the bats were loaded I bet, people put different stuff inside the bat to give the bat extra spring, I started with wooden softball bats so I'm old.

How is the bat speed different? The only difference is bat plane, which any good big leaguer can slightly alter on a hanging curveball.
