    I see why you love both harps, I could listen to you play all day on the pretense of deciding between them 🙂

    This demo is so well done. Thank you for such a thoughtful way of comparing these two lovely options. Now I'm sitting here trying to justify buying another harp. The Killarney is so gorgeous.

    Both harps sound beautiful, both are of professional quality. The Fisher harp seems warmer yet with crystal-like clarity.

    A definite difference in tone. The fisher is brighter. I like both. If I had to compare the two. the fisher is like crisp fresh water and the other like a warm breeze. Both beautiful.

    I like the Killarney harp, the sound is round and complete, and the Fisher has a sharper sound. Thanks for the video. I would like to see a demo with a Harrington harp, it would be wonderful!

    Having owned a Fisher I can attest to their lovely sound. The Killarney Muckross is new to me and I love the sound! Both harps differ a lot regards their voices. The Fisher has that lovely crystal bell like top whereas the Killarney Muckross has a gorgeous dulcet tone and a more present mid and bottom. Love your version of Eleanor Plunket ! Sounded exquisite on both harps!

    OMG, I tried the Killarney harps before I even knew how to play, and I absolutely loved it. If I get a bigger harp (I have a 27-string Camac Odyssey), then I'd probably get a Killarney, but I haven't heard of the Fisher brand before. I didn't know Fisher was in Winnipeg. I was just there in June to see my mom. If I'd known, I'd have gone to the shop to try out the harps! Thanks for sharing this video. I will have to remember about Fisher next time I go home!

    Both are nice harps, look well made, and as for price that is up to whomever wishes to buy one to decide on. As for the sound quality, again that is up to one's ear and preference. For me I like a full-bodied tone which the Killarney Muckross easily produces. The brighter tone of the Fisher Eireann is very apparent and lends itself well to songs that need that brightness to them. It really comes down to one's "ear" and what sounds good to them. I am always grateful for my 1st harp teacher who years ago was a stickler for developing your "ear". Was funny as early on she would only allow me to tune my harp starting with a "C" tuning fork and eventually let me start using a pitch pipe. Of course, this was well before any electronic tuning devices. So, I continue to play my L&H Troubadour which has been my friend since 1978.

    Your playing is wonderful! 😊 To my ear the Fisher is the clear winner, with a greater complexity of sound, more overtones, more responsiveness, and a sweeter, clearer voice…except for in the Fairy Fort piece, where the Killarney’s extra bass strings add a pleasing depth to the piece and the Fisher is a bit disadvantaged due to being smaller. Thank you for this fun comparison!

    May I ask what kind of wood your Killarny is made off and what kind of sound board? I absolutely love this harp!

    Both harps have a beautiful sound. However can you choose between them? Which do you play most frequently? Loved the video. Thanks.❤

      I probably play the Fisher more out and about as it's a bit lighter for carrying around and getting in/out the car, plus I have an inbuilt pickup in it, but I probably use the Killarney more at home at the moment

    What is the string tension?
    Are the two harps strung in gut strings with steel bass strings?

    • @LearnCelticHarp
      @LearnCelticHarp  Рік тому +1

      Both pretty low tension snd quite similar.
      They're both strung with Carbon in the top and I use these bass strings - salopianstrings.co.uk/product/number-25e-34c-wire-bound-clarsach-or-folk-harp-strings/
