So incredibly proud to have worked on this! Loveweb has been a favorite of mine for a long time, and the fact I get to input on it is genuinely crazy! Vera did an incredible job as Cybermare and I look forward to working with her! Shadok blew it out of the water as usual with the animation and storytelling. You all are in for a treat during this premiere!
manon's voice actor did such a good job i didn't even notice it wasn't text to speech anymore for a good minute or so. fits like a puzzle piece very well. cybermare's is a bit more clear but still fits her perfectly. sounds exactly like the edgy fifteen year old we all know she kins and i'm excited to see this help further the web revival movement. it feels good to be able to ACTUALLY surf the web now
I felt this way too. For a while, I've just been cycling UA-cam Reddit on my phone. I've been trying to avoid Tiktok because of that "zombie" feeling. Like Cybermare, I also realized there is so much astroturfing, ai generated articles, and low effort content on social media and it makes me frustrated. I wanted to make a website, but it's quite daunting. I can do the programming, but I struggle to make some interesting content. I wonder what I could blog about... Also, I like the interaction part at the end of this episode of LoveWeb. Instead of the usual "Like and Subscribe" (which kinda insenuates staying on the Core Web), there is a call-to-action to go try doing old web type stuff. It reminds me of old children's shows (The UpsideDown Show). Love it!
Cybermare made a really strong point about nostalgia bait, just about every example of a fresh and unique website shown was very millennial centric with its 90s to Y2K look. When I'm not on core web I spend a lot of time on wikis, fan sites that were primarily about information about a piece of pop culture have been completely replaced by them. Fandom could be said to be core web, but I peruse many fan owned ones too. How could you even compete against them? A glaring omission was old school web hangouts like forums being endangered thanks to Discord, social media etc. A lot of valuable content and interesting discussions are preserved in forums, DIscord isn't searchable by a search engine nor does it preserve content like a forum does.
@@protocetid Fandom feels like a diet core-web site. It's managed to buy its way into owning a virtual monopoly over fan-wikis, all the while making its end user experience insufferable (especially on mobile, where you can't spend 5 seconds without getting spammed with a dozen ads that drain your battery by 10 to 30%). I get the need for ad-revenue, especially as such a massive platform, but the least you could do is make your site, y'know, useable. Same goes for a lot of cooking websites.

Omg!! I'm so glad I stumbled onto this. I've been kinda despairing over the state of the net in recent years, having grown up during the "wild west" era of the Internet in the 2000s. Thank you for making more people aware of these resources!
If you want old web back, people must want the old web. The internet nowadays is the "coreweb". Lots of people don't even know what it was before. I don't know what it was before. If you want this to be back, it needs to provide some value. But it's hard to do with the old internet because it's unpredictable. Or atleast that's my best guess. Basically the periferies must provide something that core web can't. Dunno what that would be though.
Personally, periphery websites are more personal and don't have the vibe of big tech companies profiting off user-generated content. I admire how people go through the huge effort of learning to make a website so that they can self-express or provide information or have something cool to share with others.
It's not going to happen, because means of cultivating what people like is in hands of biggest groups, which want their mainstream sites being the first choice, being wanted the most and nothing else. Companies going to do anything to kill competitors in the crib, so they could keep pushing their own thing. Because its a way of making money.
maybe we should first start off with what value does the coreweb have. i think the biggest reason why people flock to those big websites, is convenience. people want to carve out a space and share who they are and what they do or make. a youtube, a twitter, a facebook, or even a google lets you express a tiny sliver of that for the low cost of already owning a computer. this is not the only convenience either. its easier to find new stuff when it just shows up on your feed. its easier to communicate when theres a standardized messaging service built into these applications. its easier to plug in your email address and screen name and that makes your account. once that infrastructure was built, people flocked to them and we ended up where we are now. the old web revival movement does have value in and of itself tho. it is harder to make a website, but why not? learning coding is fun, its a useful skill, and the world is only getting more digital. even with the most basic understanding of html you can make something that expresses your interests or what you want to express than a tweet or a header can provide. it is also harder to find new websites, or to communicate if everyone is in different places. but its also fun to click around on websites to see where it takes you, its fun to see who cared enough to put a link to another website that that person liked. the surprise me/roulette option is another really cool way to discover sites out there. and with communication, theres tons of ways to communicate now. we're not only limited to email, IMing, or forum DMing now, although these all rule in their own way. i dont think the value of old web stuff is to replace what the core web has stamped all over the place. they simply have had too much money and time sunk into them that they're here to stay. but that doesn't mean old web can't exist or shouldn't be championed. we should have options to how to participate in the web. its like finding a place to call home. there's houses, apartments, townhomes, duplexes, studios, boathouses, etc. everyone needs a place to call home and everyone theoretically should be able to choose or at least change what place they call home. the coreweb is full of apartments, places where tons of people call home if they don't want a personal space. commerce, conversation, and advertising are easiest here, but it leaves some space to be desired. the old web is full of houses and boathouses. more work certainly, like upkeep and cost, but its also bigger, more customizable. its also more private, so you can explore and create to your heart's content. just like in the real world, if there's a lack of diversity in homes, things can get pretty bad. the insane amount of houses in the us makes for horrible infrastructure and resource depletion. and the focus on houses as the only way to live makes apartment living and other forms of housing harder to be a part of, so everyone strives to get a home. but then it only continues the problem of only having houses. the world wide web is filled with apartments and not enough homes, which is funny because theoretically the web should be incredibly vast. it should be able to accomodate so many homes compared to the real world. but we've grown up in these apartments owned by these landlords that seek to profit off of us and advertise us nonsense, limiting the space for people to be people and put them into smaller places. neither personal websites or social media are inherently bad ideas, they both have positives and negatives. but if all the sites are the same, we lose out on the diversity and specialness that multiple websites provide.
I mean, these monopoly alghoritms dominating all the internet work so well, that even though I know exactly how addictive they are, I still fall victim to them and sometimes don't even care.
This is amazings!!! I love Manon and Cybermare’s new voices, I know I don’t talk much in comment sections, but I just wanted to tell u that you all did great on this! :D
as a 25 year old who's felt extremely disenfranchised with the modern web, THANK YOU!! i could neither place why it felt off and what i could do to change that. i can't believe the core web has become so big that it made me forget that the internet is an infinite space. i had a blast looking through a bunch of archived geocities pages just today and i felt that same joy and spark of exploring the kinds of websites i would've as a kid at the library. every website is like a little gift box waiting to be opened, you never know what you'll see!! even with tumblr, it used to illicit that same kind of curiosity with the old freedom of HTML customization but a lot of those pages have been broken by the modern design trying to shove everyone into one big mobile friendly template, it's really tragic. this video really inspired me to try to go out and make my own website, thank you for the resources!
Really loving the voice for Cybermare, it fits her disaffected and cynical nature perfectly. Frankly I think it's much better than the AI Maud voice, and that alone made me adjust to it without trouble.
I personally didnt get to experience the early days of the internet so im really thankful that this series documents them this well. Amazing work as always, and great job new voice actors and everyone involved in this project.
Love this video! I'm glad there's still a small community of creative people who do enjoy the old web as much as I do. One thing I miss alongside the old web is shopping/going through a bunch of random CD games to pop in and play
The new voices are really nice!! tbh manon's old voice was kinda annoying but just tolerable enough usually voice changes dont end up better then originals but considering the old ones were Uberduck-like TTS's this one is a welcome change :3 you guys can put way more expressiveness into the characters now!
This is amazing, this channel, it's so cute, it's so free. Free to be cute cat or cute pony, the delivery is pure quality and informative. Thank you for going for this style.
It really is nice seeing you talk about this!! Btw if you have a neocities I'd love to see it! :D more people need to get back into web 1.0 vibe stuff!
@@creeperdude3480 I never got into Homestuck, IIRC it was an experimental web comic and a great example of how unique peripheral web can be. Really should've been mentioned.
This is such a refreshing video that i can relate to a bunch on how the internet has been kinda being handled nowadays, its amazing how much reliant on the internet we've become nowadays but also how very little of people know that it can be used in more ways than just watching short form video on a phone or tweeting how much they hate [ insert popular topic / specific kind of audience ]. It sucks how little manual personalization we can do on many sites besides the stuff we share or hope to be shown based on algorithims, not that they're inherently bad but definitely don't work very well considering how much its just used to profit off you being addicted to scrolling. Really love the character dynamics between this silly cat and modern pony.
wow this actually is recommended to me at the perfect time! I'm definitely making a website for myself. This'll be my first time actually learning to do something like this- so html knowledge from 0% to hopefully master levels soooon! Can't wait to share it with friends and try n start really personalizing the internet again !!!
I found this video while working on my Neocities!! I recently deactivated and moved on from main social media, and I'm only using UA-cam, Discord, and Neocities. It's been soooo refreshing. I love that this video exists, so I can show people why I've decided to get off main social media :3
This was amazing!! Glad to hear the new VAs! Manon's VA fits them like a glove and the same goes with Cybermare! ...sooo somewhat off topic, but I've been building my own site on Neocities, and while it's been a work in progress for a while, I've got some ideas. :P Can't wait to properly launch it!
6:26 nice little easter egg/fun fact: This blog post was a secret found in Spamton Sweetstakes a while ago as a lore hint for future chapters of deltarune.
I'm currently 17. I haven't had the experience of the early Web, but it looks absolutely great. Just bring able to make something and put it out there is something that should not be lost. I want to make websites that take the good parts of modern, but with so much more soul. I want to learn and make HTML tutorials. We are NOT appreciating the full extents of the Internet and it makes me mad!
First video I ever seen from you but golly do I love this! The everything here! I've been very nostalgic recently over the old web as I have taken a small spin of playing on old consoles and games recently and so forth. This is such a charming and informative video! I am so thankful for staying up til 2 am watching this almost as if it is the old web once more.
Around 2018-20 I had this sudden realization that all I ever did was hop around the big social media sites, and I suddenly longed for all those quirky distinct website I used to frequent. I put in a good deal of effort to return to some old message boards and forums, to bookmark some favorite blogs and so on. I miss the pre-2010s internet, I have to admit.
Another fantastic video! This is an idea/concept that I can get behind, and it's unfortunate how the Core Web ended up the way that it did, and that most are fine with it thanks to the convenience of it. Also, Monon & Cybermare's VAs did great work here. They both sound really good, and the performance felt like they did in earlier episodes except more expressive and human. Can't wait for more!
Kenny and Vera did a great job as the new voices. Kinda miss the robotic voices from the ai voices tho. Obviously since that’s off the table, maybe just add some filters on them like flanger or bit crush
really cool content, love the character dynamic where each of them talk about the parts they know best about/are willing to talk about. It's awesome! I'm also glad I'm technically part of the movement by accident, purely because I'm a nerd and having my own website was a fun idea to me
this feels like such a genuine early 2010s youtube vid, and i love the research and passion that went into this video! this is going in my super liked videos playlist :D
i just started, moments ago looking at the old web because of this video, and im just blown away this is so.. itself? its like a real person made this stuff, it doesnt feel corporate and sterile. its so expressive i love this. edit: i just realised its been like an hour and not just a few moments of looking at these websites. lmao I almost dont even wana go back to youtube or any other site, this just feels, better? i feel more connected i guess is a better way to put it, im excited i dont feel like im scrolling anymore, i dont WANA scroll anymore, i want to get away from that now that ive found this im not looking back. edit: im lost where am i thank you, Shadok for showing me this wonder, i wont be leaving lol
I love this!!! honestly I think after seeing that you have your own website (maybe like a couple months ago) is when I saw how the community and cool websites I see on the internet archive or just random sites I see online is still thriving on neocities or other cool places was really awesome! I haven't made my own website on neocities but I've made a lot of other places and I think I really want to get into making sites for whatever! also I think Kenny's voice on manon works really well! no disrespect to vera but their voice might need a bit of time to get used to.
I did not expect the Spamton Sweepstakes cameo there it's perfect fgbfbfxbnfxbn But really true, if there's any time to make a web revival it's now before they take away what we have left of expression. (looking at you youtube)
Thank you again for a wonderful video, idk how to explain it but this video explains how much stuff haves changed, and that people should know about it and how not to join the hell hole that modern net does to people
I'm glad i randomly found this channel one day...and yet found about loveweb and his passion to old internet and then evenabout all this moove This brings hopes not just for internet...but real world as well Also "i'm not nostalgic...i'm outragous!" Let me writt to myself it somewhereXD I wish to see loveweb turning into some big indi animation project or something...that would be coou and...would fit it perfectly
Okay so two things 1. Thank you, I’ve really wanted to find a way to get away from the core web (had no idea it was called that) but didn’t know how 2. Was that the Spamton sweepstakes ARG
Man, i've been thinking about making my own website for a while now and this video practically read my mind and gave me suggestions on the tools i can use to make it happen. Will certainly be looking into this, but coding scares me, so i might need to look up some templates to work off of first. Thanks Loveweb!
I've recently started to learn html and God it's so fun just making websites even if no one else can see them I still love messing around and finding out t what you can do
What a great way to start my day! New loveweb video!! Once again another really cool one. It reminds I should finish my old webstyle website I was working.
This has motivated me! I have a website for all my creative projects that was on a big website builder, but now I'm gonna move to Neocities. Thanks LOVEWEB!
Oh this is really neat! This is the first vid of yours ive seen :) i have had a Neocities for about a year now and I love it! Its so fun, I love writing essays/blogs about what matters to me, showing off my drawings, and making fun engagement features. And theres SOOOOO MANY awesome websites that look so cool and are so fun to explore! Even if youre on the fence thinking this wont be the political movement you want it to be, or the social media killer with any teeth, PLEASE DO THIS FOR YOU!! Do this because its a fun hobby and a bunch of great skills regarding self expression that will turn around a bad day! You meet people that you feel a real connection with at the distance level of your choosing, and you get to be every facet of your authentic self without limitations. Its about making a space that fits you exactly, instead of bending over backwards to fit into the current trendy online town square. You can do as much or as little as you want, but I really hope if you're reading this you give it a try. Even just to explore a bunch of cool webpages.
Really like the new voices! When the announcement came out that they were gonna change I was afraid they would lose their charm (as weird as it sounds to find robotic voices charming) but, to my surprise, they're spot on with the characters!

0:11 the keyboard being taped back together is a nice touch
The new voices are really nice!! tbh manon's old voice was kinda annoying but just tolerable enough
usually voice changes dont end up better then originals but considering the old ones were Uberduck-like TTS's
this one is a welcome change :3 you guys can put way more expressiveness into the characters now!
Thank you. I like this series a lot. Cybermare's new voice is pretty cool. Oh yes, the website is great also! Probably the best part of all of this!
This is amazing, this channel, it's so cute, it's so free. Free to be cute cat or cute pony, the delivery is pure quality and informative. Thank you for going for this style.
It really is nice seeing you talk about this!! Btw if you have a neocities I'd love to see it! :D more people need to get back into web 1.0 vibe stuff!
shadok* UA-cam won't let me edit the comment for some reason
Links to shadok's and loveweb's neocites are in the description. Hope that helps!
OH GOD EDOLON PFP
@@creeperdude3480 I never got into Homestuck, IIRC it was an experimental web comic and a great example of how unique peripheral web can be. Really should've been mentioned.
home stuck
I love the voice acting, it gives the characters so much personality❤
Good job to the VA's for this one!
Also damn Cybermare's Speech about Egalitarianism is very Thought-provoking
great work on this one!! real excited for more new neocities pages & projects to explore!
Good-ass episode, loved the new voices and Cybermare genuinely had me laughing with how some of the lines were delivered. Great job!
The voice actors were amazing, great job on this episode.
I found this video while working on my Neocities!! I recently deactivated and moved on from main social media, and I'm only using UA-cam, Discord, and Neocities. It's been soooo refreshing. I love that this video exists, so I can show people why I've decided to get off main social media :3
Also seeing the Deltarune blog thing jumpscared me because my website is 100% a copy of that because I'm a Noelle introject. LOL
I Genuinely just don't use social media outside of UA-cam and I think it's great.
Oh my god it’s great to have you back and especially with non-ai voices!
great video, as always! ^^
Thank you so much for showing me neocities! I love it there!
We ❤ The new VA's of Loveweb.
I'm part of some web revival communities and it was so surprising and fun to see such a well animated little short explaining them!
i had a feeling you'd cover neocities at one point, this video was so good!! ! ! >w
This was amazing!! Glad to hear the new VAs! Manon's VA fits them like a glove and the same goes with Cybermare!
...sooo somewhat off topic, but I've been building my own site on Neocities, and while it's been a work in progress for a while, I've got some ideas. :P Can't wait to properly launch it!
manon uses they/them!
@@Bulba413 whoops. I fixed it. :P
amazing as always, new voices absolutely killed it. thank u loveweb team
6:26 nice little easter egg/fun fact:
This blog post was a secret found in Spamton Sweetstakes a while ago as a lore hint for future chapters of deltarune.
Well, this is new. Goodbye, MLP A.I. voices. Hello, official VAs!
loveweb is everything!!! so many years ive spent on the internet and this is my favorite video series ive ever found here!!
i wonder if cybermare and manon would have different voice actors each loveweb episode, as if they were using audio visualizers to change them.
they will not, (unless shadok gets rid of us lmao) very cool idea tho!
@@Kenny_Kenbee ah, alright
I'm currently 17. I haven't had the experience of the early Web, but it looks absolutely great. Just bring able to make something and put it out there is something that should not be lost. I want to make websites that take the good parts of modern, but with so much more soul. I want to learn and make HTML tutorials. We are NOT appreciating the full extents of the Internet and it makes me mad!
Im very very excited for this!
3:27 YOOO ITS MELON KING!!! Let's gooooo, top tier personal website.
First video I ever seen from you but golly do I love this! The everything here! I've been very nostalgic recently over the old web as I have taken a small spin of playing on old consoles and games recently and so forth.
This is such a charming and informative video!
I am so thankful for staying up til 2 am watching this almost as if it is the old web once more.
oh hell yea one hell of an awesome topic
also these new voices embody the characters so well (especially with manon)
This sires is criminally underrated for the level of effort required to make something like this.
Omg the new voices are so cool and cute i love them!!
Can't Wait!
Edit: HOLY SH*T the voices are so good! so glad to be part of the primere with everyone!
Can't wait for more!
tasty lessons to be learned! great animation as always! love the voice acting!
I must say, the new voice actors did great, hope to see more!
Infinity scroll broke the internet. With pages you don't get the constant temptation of checking everything out.
waaa!!! the new voice actors did such a good job!!!!
this is fantastic. so happy to discover this. binging all other episodes.
love the voice acting
Kenny and Vera did a great job as the new voices. Kinda miss the robotic voices from the ai voices tho. Obviously since that’s off the table, maybe just add some filters on them like flanger or bit crush
In the darkest moment, when we needed them most, they returned
great, now I have a sudden interest in making a website and picking up coding again. Thanks loveweb!!! Love the new voices too
DUDE I LOVE THEIR NEW VOICES OMFGGGGGGGGG!!!
really cool content, love the character dynamic where each of them talk about the parts they know best about/are willing to talk about.
It's awesome! I'm also glad I'm technically part of the movement by accident, purely because I'm a nerd and having my own website was a fun idea to me
it’s a shame that the most recent video got more views than this series
this video is still charming and well made as all of the episodes are
I really love the new voice actors for manon an cybermare!
this feels like such a genuine early 2010s youtube vid, and i love the research and passion that went into this video! this is going in my super liked videos playlist :D
i just started, moments ago looking at the old web because of this video, and im just blown away this is so.. itself? its like a real person made this stuff, it doesnt feel corporate and sterile. its so expressive i love this.
edit: i just realised its been like an hour and not just a few moments of looking at these websites. lmao
I almost dont even wana go back to youtube or any other site, this just feels, better? i feel more connected i guess is a better way to put it, im excited i dont feel like im scrolling anymore, i dont WANA scroll anymore, i want to get away from that now that ive found this im not looking back.
edit: im lost where am i
thank you, Shadok for showing me this wonder, i wont be leaving lol
awesome. i love the new voices they sound really fitting for the characters
I never expected a more profound video in this series, very cool!
Open source is our salvation
I've Never seen this channel before but I belong here
I love this!!! honestly I think after seeing that you have your own website (maybe like a couple months ago) is when I saw how the community and cool websites I see on the internet archive or just random sites I see online is still thriving on neocities or other cool places was really awesome! I haven't made my own website on neocities but I've made a lot of other places and I think I really want to get into making sites for whatever!
also I think Kenny's voice on manon works really well!
no disrespect to vera but their voice might need a bit of time to get used to.
awesome voice actors, they sound perfect. please keep them around, Manon is even cuter
I did not expect the Spamton Sweepstakes cameo there it's perfect fgbfbfxbnfxbn
But really true, if there's any time to make a web revival it's now before they take away what we have left of expression. (looking at you youtube)
Its really relatable thanks for your vid
Let's go! New loveweb video!
Thank you again for a wonderful video, idk how to explain it but this video explains how much stuff haves changed, and that people should know about it and how not to join the hell hole that modern net does to people
I'm glad i randomly found this channel one day...and yet found about loveweb and his passion to old internet and then evenabout all this moove
This brings hopes not just for internet...but real world as well
Also "i'm not nostalgic...i'm outragous!"
Let me writt to myself it somewhereXD
I wish to see loveweb turning into some big indi animation project or something...that would be coou and...would fit it perfectly
Yeah as soon as I clicked on that website link and heard the music, got a massive smile on my face.
This is sick
new episode is great!!
Vera and Kenny did great on voicing the characters!! :D
I love the voice actors! !!!! I liked Cybermare sounding like a robot but this is better. And Manon sounds the same but less glitchy.
It's a little daunting to hear real people voicing these characters, but I'm sure I'll get used to it after a while.
Okay so two things
1. Thank you, I’ve really wanted to find a way to get away from the core web (had no idea it was called that) but didn’t know how
2. Was that the Spamton sweepstakes ARG
This was a really good episode. I absolutely LOVE the new voices!!
Awesome video! Wish I saw this when it came out two weeks ago. AMazing show!
Be aware that neocities has some restrictions
When the announcement came out that they were gonna change I was afraid they would lose their charm (as weird as it sounds to find robotic voices charming) but, to my surprise, they're spot on with the characters!
thank you so much!
@@Kenny_Kenbee Amazing job! :D
Loved this cute episode and the VA's!
Oh my god the VAs are so good!!!!
"probably a firefox extension that blocks youtube shorts"
you know what that's a great idea I should look that up and grab it
Really love the new voice actors!
