Welp, there goes my free time
was it effected by the adobe flash thing? i havent read it since 2017
I love how you credit the unofficial compilation instead of the actual website lmao
I would say that working alongside such titans of the industry has been a humbling experience, if not for the fact that my ego has actually been inflated massively. Incredible work on this, Shadok.
HELLO CUNNINGHAM
:OOOO I was so surprised to hear your voice!
No way it’s Andrew Cunningham
Huh? Andrew? What’re you doing here?
I got so hyped when I recognized your voice, thank you for your contribution!!!
You can't escape the homestuck
Nor can you fight it
It sure is random but it's the greatest fandom
It may be quite outrageous, but its so contagious
This fandom is about to explode
You cannot
Homestuck enjoyers finally eating something in years, and today we eat good. Props to the chef!
If you haven't tried MSPFA I'd recommend it, it's currently down but it's full of great fan adventures!
@@g--stef4756 what is that?
@@sushi6top MS Paint Fan Adventures, a hub (currently a bit down) for various homegrown comics styled after MS Paint Adventures, so that is to say Homestuck as well as Problem Sleuth inspired fan comics.
I Absolutely love how manon is used to represent the old internet users and the culture from the 2000's, while cybermare is used to represent the newer internet users and showing how people nowadays react to the old internet stuff, really makes for a great dynamic and makes it so that both groups have a character they can relate to.
As a newer internet user, old internet stuff is great and I haven’t a clue why people would ever reject learning about internet heritage.
@@InkSans_FandomSoda the cringe, a lot of stuff from back then is considered incredibly cringe and stupid nowadays, also incels, the internet was just filled with them, but i still think there is some to be enjoyed from the old internet.
Why is cybermare a pony tho
@@ibrahimzonbia155 dunno, probably to represent another big piece of internet culture.
@@ibrahimzonbia155 no reason
This is actually an amazing way to introduce someone into Homestuck.
By using the themes and style without retelling the original story, it is able to stand on its own while still showing the fantasy that is playing Sburb.
When i read homestuck after watching this, i realised this is because every session is different, so it could not have been the same as when john and his friends entered.
As someone who's never read Homestuck this video tickles my brain and resonates with my soul thus I will now be delving into it
You fool, youll be trapped forever XD
that shit will fuck you up. enjoy!
oh god
have fun :]
You will never escape it! Enjoy ^-^
i love how most of the reactions to this video are along the lines of like "wow i've never heard of this comic but it looks cool" or "this video finally convinced me to read homestuck". like im glad to see just like... people talking about homestuck positively without the need to reflexively dunk on it or claim its bad or whatever. just people enjoying a thing and sharing that joy with others. its great.
The world has finally healed and we have reached a stage of enjoyment that has moved from irony back to earnestness, where people can finally enjoy homestuck unironically once more
yeah its funny bc homestuck was kinda before my time so i thought the homestuck dunking was like league of legends where it actually sucks and isnt worth getting into but no apparently it was just considered cringe for a long time and its actually a really cool comic
My reaction to this is "holy fuck cybershell's made cameo here"
There's SO much care and attention in this, what an amazing tribute! It's honestly hard to believe that projects this high quality can exist for free on the internet. The amount of creativity and collaboration that went into this is a testament in itself to how important Homestuck is to the internet. It also honestly feels like you leveled up with this video, it's hard to find many other animators making stuff this unique, polished, and well-researched anywhere online. Can't wait to see the lasting reception to this video, and I'm obviously super excited to see what's next. Amazing amazing job
oooh aaabsolutely!
Meh,i didn't toughed that homestuck was THAT important,i only knowed homestuck in 2023 thanks to rule34
You can't fight the homestuck. Your pony friend tried to fight. now she's the one who regrets
Also the pony has probably already died once.
(dun't worry they ascended)
@@ignaziolanari4646 The irony is That the pony is a Horse which you know how important horses to the plot of Homestuck
@@ignaziolanari4646”all who die come back again” i remember that line (i havnt finished homestuck yet)
When you asked if you could use Surprise, We're Back for the next Loveweb, I thought you'd just throw it in as background music underneath some narration; boy was this a surprise! The animation you and your team put together is really just gorgeous, and you all actually perfectly nailed the vibe I was going for when I made the track. This whole video's a wonderful love letter to a unique piece of art that's left a lasting impression on many of us. You've outdone yourself this time, Shadok!
oh shoot! Flare! Right, your music was used, thats pretty freakin cool
Dude "Surprise, were back" has got to be one of my favourite homestuck osts, massive props for making it!
@@PedrohzWasNotTaken-zt9ye Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoy it!
i found that song when i was 12 and i adore it, it’s so cool that you’re here!! hi
@@guster-animations Hi to you too! Thanks for listening!
I am not going to lie; this was shaping up to be a very unimpressive Homestuck day for me. Then I watched this with my sister and suddenly everything was great. Seriously saved the whole thing for me.
This came out so great. I like how there's a role playing narrative and self aware "demo" while talking about the history of Homestuck, it just feels in the spirit of it. Can't wait for the second part
The fact both Homestuck and One Punch Man are now part of the same company , lmao imagine a crossover
They just own the publishing rights. It's not the same as owning the thing
*licensed by the same company. not owned
I drew a comic about this in my notebook
@@higztv1166 post it somewhere and send me a link
Wait what
I'm gonna be honest I actually cried at the intro. It's been so long since... well since even the ACTUAL COMIC had this much care put into it. I'm 200% invested, I'd love to see more content like this. Also Narrator!Cunningham is something I never knew I needed so much.
Go check vast error out, it's also pretty good!
i just finished the emotional rollercoaster that is ranking all 700 homestuck songs. this came out at a perfect time and i’m so glad i can discover the channel and share my experience with the creators of it.
I really was expecting to find that video on your channel, kinda disappointed I didn't find it.
Deep inside all of us are still children, growing up in the Internet, making friends in chats and reading Homestuck. We are stuck forever and it's the best thing ever. The fandom will live on even after we become senior citizens!
*home* stuck
THAT SEQUENCE AT THE BEGINNING??? If you had told me that was a flash ripped straight from homestuck I would’ve believed you without a doubt in my mind!!!! It looks amazing!!!
I am so happy Manon finally got to talk about homestuck!!
We engage in a little bit of world ending tomfoolery
this is exactly as amazing as i knew it'd be, phenomenal work, seeing the chat reaction to everything in real time was great
very glad i got to help out a tiny bit too
(also i think cybermare knows more about homestuck than she's letting on)
… CM can’t let people know that she likes Homestuck beyond simple irony, because that cool kid status ain’t gonna maintain itself. >)X^D
Shadok, this might be the best thing you’ve made ever, my god. The opening flash was incredible, and I can’t wait to watch more!!
THE DETECTIVE LOVE PANEL WITH COLUMBO and I think Poirot? Jesus Christ I love this hahaha
Can’t wait for part 2 😊
Homestuck is unavoidable. You just can't escape its grasp.
413 videos always make me feel nostalgic even though ive only been in the fandom for like 3 years
You absolutly captured the feeling of the webcomic in this, of course, things feel speed up but you were still able to show that grandiose other worldliness that is unique to homestuck. wonderful job
I originally wrote a comment about not wanting to watch the full thing, because I didnt recognise stuff and was afraid of spoilers, but I was informed that qll of the animation is fully original and mainly based on act 1 (which i have read) so i watched it AND WOWIE WOWIE this is INCRESIBLE!
The accuracy to how HS looks is really damn good and all the enviroments qnd characters honestly are really pretty, I especially just love Manon's planet, such nice vibes. I can tell this took a lot of work to put together. I just love how everything is designed, I dont know how to describe it, its just so wonderfully whimsy. I will definately be checking out the credits after typing this! Absolutely great job. I recognised two voice cameos, hearing cybershell voice one of the snakes SENT ME, same for Andrew freaking Cunningham being the narrator, that was wonderful.
This might have just convinced me to actually continue reading Homestuck soon
...oh hey this was posted on Homestuck day! I didn't even realise, haha!
ALSO IM HAPPY FOR MANON, THEY CAN FINALLY TALK QBOUT HOMESTUCK
How did she reach god tier that fast. Also DONT GIVE HIM THAT RING CYBERMARE
Judging by how much Homestuck content is on this channel I can tell shadok was waiting on planning this video as soon as possible. But honestly this episode was one of the best ones yet.
Whoa, I've been hearing about Homestuck since the first day I've been on the Internet! If you told me I'd be introduced to these webcomics by a kewl lolcat and their pony friend... haha you really outdid yourself on this episode, Shadok!
I am blown away by how well you mimicked the homestuck artstyle. This must have taken forever!!
finally someone will tell me about homestuck
I've been patiently waiting for this video for two years and it's finally here! Thank you Shadok!
Edit: Now that the premiere has happened, I have to say this is the coolest Homestuck video I have ever seen! Your interpretation of Sburb's mechanics was very unique! And those cutscenes were awesome! I'm going to rewatch this so many times.
Void and Light?! They don’t have a Time or Space player! Their session is DOOMED! 😭
Making the narrative throughline about some Derse NPCs, one of whom is an OC inspired by Problem Sleuth, without first establishing why any of that is relevant is the most Hussnasty narrative decision you could have made. Brilliant. Iconic. Beautiful.
whether this is for better or for worse this has officially lured me into reading homestuck... im a considerable length in and i just wanna say it IS awesome
The concept of a "sburb demo" is so clever and I'm honestly surprised I've never seen anyone use it before! I can't wait to see the next part of this series!
wow, this is really great! what a way to talk about homestuck! the problem sleuth vibes are off the charts. intermission 1 likers are the grandparents of wisdom in this fandom. more media analysis should take the form of elaborate fan fiction imo
This was wonderful to watch, it really felt like I was back reading Homestuck and experiencing it all over again. Also blew my mind to recognize Cybershell and Andrew's voices, it's fun seeing creators I've watched from different topics get mixed in with something like this. Really looking forward to part two!
That's it, i'm showing this to all my friends, no context needed, this is beautiful
It's amazing how much effort you put in to these animations . They definitely have this charm of good old homestuck .
Waiting for the release of part two .
What an incredible video! Homestuck is so amazing and its so cool to see you make a bite sized "demo" of what reading it is like to bring it to a larger audience. I am greatly looking forward to the next part :D
God, Homestuck still really is incredible.
The ending might've not been the best end towards the story, but it did go off with a bang.
Wish that Hussie went on to do other things though.
He made a visual novel called Psycolonials.
I'm sure it's already been said a few times, but I do like how this video was posted on the 14th anniversary of Homestuck.
the total number of good homestuck youtube videos in existence has increased to 1, from 0. great shit shad
This was pretty dang great. Thank you for the intense nostalgia, it's hard to think it's been a decade since I really got exposed to this. You can feel the love for the comic in everything you did. Cheers!
This is such Homestuck, like this has the same feeling like reading Homestuck for the first time, it makes me so happy yipieeeee :D
I don't know what's a homestuck is, but I had fun helping for this episode >:J
introducing someone to a fandom by making an easy-to-digest short fan series is honestly so creative and amazing to see.
Man, when the game started... CHILLS. been a homestuck fan for years and i love this
This must have been a load of work. It's basically a Homestuck fanfic. There are so many little details and tributes to the original.
The attention to detail is insane, the light player is the one we follow the most, cybermare as the void player (eheh) avoids our gaze.
I can't wait to see if there's time-line manipulation or trolls here too owo
April Thirteenth 2023 came and went (wow, that means it's John's twenty-seventh birthday) and I didn't do nothing homestuck-related. I caught the bug around 2011 (during act 6 act 3 iirc) and it most recently resurfaced on 10/25/2020 when a tiny voice in my head told me "hey halloween is coming up go buy some gray bodypaint". I didn't, but I re-read HS, joined a couple forums, listened to the Voxus recordings, and wrote a few unpublished essays on it in the following year-and-a-half.
So glad to see more content around this universe. The "demo version" reminds me of classic demo versions of games I would try to play&milk.
Much love to yall
Wow this is immaculate... down to the references to the visuals and music... its an AMAZING homage to homestuck! so perfectly zany and whimsical just like homestuck. you really outdid yourself
Considering that I have dedicated my life to internet studies yet never read homestuck until recently is kinda funny lol
great video as always
Wow this was genuinely lovely. I can’t imagine the amount of love and effort that went into all of this, but it really shows. Excellent work to everyone involved.
I was one of the lucky people to have watched this on the 4/13 stream, and this video was awesome to see there!
I also love Homestuck alchemy. It was always one of the most fun parts.
Thank you for making this video! Every episode has been great, but I’ve especially enjoyed this one. Cool voice cast too.
This is so great! Homestuck always had a very creative fandom, and seeing a video like that so many years after Homestuck's ending, makes me so happy!
I had a friend tell me once that I would like Homestuck since I like Internet history so much, and I’m starting to believe them lol. I can’t wait for the next episode!! This was such an interesting and fun one (:
I wondered the whole Gumshoe part why I knew that voice. So glad to see a homestuck these days, even though I didn't finish it completely, but still, the quality of the video is incredible! It's scary to imagine how long it all takes to make 🥴
I've sadly never grown up reading Homestuck, even more sadly, I'd never find the freetime to do it today.
But I did go through Problem Sleuth years ago so I was super happy to see such a wonderful homage in GUMSHOE.
Fantastic work overall.
9:55 the moment Andrew Cunningham appears.
i can't even express how nice it is to see a video talking about homestuck that isn't just pure negativity. this is such a lovely, passionate tribute! great video, i'm excited for more 💕
It was a really amazing tribute to Homestuck! Really loved every seconds of the video!
> Cybermare: any% Ascension speedrun
Oh my god the dedication, the accuracy, the ohgodwhat joke
This was a joy to watch and truly had me smiling the whole time!
SO MUCH LOVE FOR THE COMIC I'M CRYING
Tad bit sad that alchemy wasn't touched on more, it's my favorite part of Homestuck by far. The possibilities are limitless!
Flawlessly replicating the comic's art and writing style... Yeah, okay, that's worth a sub.
This is beautiful. I don't even know nothing about homestuck but this looks quite interesting to watch. Seriously, great effort
This is insanely well done and explains homestuck in significantly more accuracy than any video ive seen before.
this video made me read homestuck and i had no idea what was happening at that time.
now im done with homestuck and this is amazing.
This captures the best parts of Act 1 quite well.
This is one of my favorite Free Web series i think that the series talks abouth all that this thing that the internet has archive in their hearts and is impossible to not make that in this web series format.
Good luck guys :3
I got into this comic last year and am still nowhere close to finishing it but I must say I am successfully stuck in the home, this webcomic pulls you in with its stupidity and then the complicated lore and genuinely genius ideas never let you go.
Holy crap I love the fact that you actually had them go into the Sburb game for this, with the warring sides being based around Manon and Cybermare. This is such a cool way to retell the story without spoiling much- This series is gonna be great!
The detail and animation is insane dude. Makes me extremely happy to see something like this come out after such a long time even after the comic and everything died down. Love it
I love that they didn't have to say it, but I and almost all of y'all who've read Homestuck know exactly what Cybermare did and is planning
Instant subscribe. This was full of the classic Homestuck charm that I've missed so dearly.
I have no idea what homestuck is and I don't understand pretty much anything, but I still watched the entire thing. I can see that a huge amount of work went into it, that's mainly why I watched it. Despite barely knowing what I just watched, I still enjoyed it lol.
Hype for this, the vibes are good, the pacing is decent and explains parts of the world without too much, as new readers priorly would get.. very confused at how massive Homestuck was, looking forward to the next edition/part
holy shit its amazing how accurately you drew in the homestuck styles! big props to you and congrats on finishing the first part!
i came in here expecting another normal video essay, but holy heck. this sure is the highest effort video essay i have ever seen, if it even qualifies as one. it's literally a fansession complete with great art and everything!! KUDOS!! 👏
this must have taken a while!! i should know, because once i attempted to do a fansession too and it was so much art and spritework hahah. didn't get very far. consider me thoroughly impressed. what an excellent way to introduce people to what homestuck is all about!
I absolutely did not expect this to be as amazing as it is, nor did I expect the level of effort put into it. This is a absolute treasure of a video. I can't wait for part 2!
Wow, this is definitely The animation ever of the most internet comic ever. I really really like this.
I'm really getting invested in the Problem Sleuth parody
*The animation quality of this video has earned you an instant SUBSCRIBER.
The idea of being stuck in SBURB, but it's a demo version where everything is still running like normal is actually terrifying.

>Actually leaving the room
Wait, that's illegal.
Honestly, I’ve gotten curious enough to want to start reading the webcomic. Could anyone tell me where I could find it?
check the pinned comment
looks like it got unpinned. anyways, gotta download The Unofficial Homestuck Collection
An absolute treat! You managed to capture the feeling of the first act, both as a reader, and as a character! Keep up the amazing work!
There's a popup cafe in Anaheim right now, which is probably the most "mainstream" Homestuck thing that's happened in literal years. Supposedly people in the entertainment industry and the current publishers/owners of the comic are there to gauge interest in doing more stuff with it. And now videos like this are starting to spring up. I see plenty of newcomers on social media getting into Homestuck every week. We might be on the verge of a fandom revival.
Took us a while, but we God-tiered eventually!
How do I describe this? Its a brilliant homage and introduction to Homestuck, why did I never think to start explaining at the load screen? Or give the person a personal taste of what its like to play Sburb so they can find their place in the story? I was so shocked to see the animations looking 100% like Andrew Hussie's style, even mistakenly thought this was something I somehow missed in the comic.. AND the MLP fandom is mixed with it.. I never imagined that combo, never would have in a million years, but its perfect.. and.. this whole episode seems to be animated.. I haven't even watched it all the way through.. lol. anyway, THANK YOU FOR THIS.
Made me feel like i was getting new homestuck content with this. Bless. Awesome vid
