Thank you so much for this tutorial! I’m working on my first granny stitch hexi cardi and I’m not in love with the wide sleeves (for myself). Now I can continue on with my sleeves!
Thank you so much for this very helpful tutorial. I am a beginner crocheter (6/7months in and taught myself from UA-cam tutorials ) and I had designed my own granny stitch sweater. It was going fantastically up to the point where I realised I needed to taper the arms or I would have giant sleeves and I had no clue how to do this 😂😂😂 thankfully you had my back!
I'm so pleased you found it helpful. I teach beginner courses in my local community and so a lot of the videos I make are aimed at them. I hope you keep enjoying your new hobby!
You're very welcome! I don't like poofy sleeves so I always taper them and thought there must be more people out there who feel the same! Haha! Glad it was useful 😊
Hi, I’m a new crochet and I’m pretty much understanding what you say but I got lost when you had the two crochets. I wish you would’ve did the first row preparing it and then the second one thank you in advance.
For the first row, you literally just place 2 dcs in place of the regular 3 dcs (granny cluster) in the area you'd like to have the decrease (so under the arm where it's less visible). That's the only difference to a regular row. I've placed a stitch marker in the middle of my 2dcs to make it clear where they are for row 2.
Does anyone know how to do a drunken granny square decrease? Would it be the same? I can't find anything online that helps, I'm trying to make tapered sleeves.
Because the first row is so simple (especially for experienced crocheters) that I didn't waste time showing you how to crochet two double crocheters instead of 3 double crochets. That's the only thing you need to do for the first row and I talk you through that rather than show you.
that's really helpful and it doesn't look out of place, thank you!
You're welcome! I don't like my sleeves too loose on granny cardigans so I figured others would feel the same 😊
Thank you so very much for showing this. I always wanted to know how to do this on my sleeves! ❤ 😊
You're welcome!! I'm not a fan of wide sleeves so figure others would feel the same. So pleased you've found the tutorial helpful 😀

Oh yay!! I'm the same with the hexi sleeves, too. Just not my style! So pleased you found the tutorial 🫶
That's EXACTLY what brought me here!

Ahhh thank you. Where are they from?
this is a super helpful and original tip!! thanks!!!!
You're welcome!
Thnx, I'm doing a stripey hexi cardigan and hoping this will work for me ☺️
It should do! Good luck!
Thank you for this! I want to work the decreases in order to avoid poofy sleeves. Now I know how.

This was so helpful! Thank you.
Interesting. Going to try this next cardigan. 😊
It really makes a difference, IMO
Thank you so much for that Video 🥰 lovely geets from germany
Bitte schön 😊 Ich spreche Deutsch!
Excellent!! Thank you SO much🥰
You're welcome!!
This is helpful for the decrease. Would you show how to add (increase) with a granny stitch? I'm stuck on how to lengthen my next row. Thanks!
As you go, the rows will naturally increase at your corners. It’s a slow increase but it does! Hope it helps
I will try!
Thank you! Ive been trying to get a decrease that doesn't look super janky
I'm not sure what janky means but you're welcome!!
To taper the sleeve further would you decrease by 1 every row untill desired width or every other row? Thankyou
The decrease works over a 2 row repeat so it wouldn't work every row. Instead, you could do 2 decreases per 2-row repeat to bring it in more 😊
I am a beginner trying to understand how you did the “ V “ Stitch ? . Thank you
For the V stitch you just place 2 dcs in the space between 2 granny clusters

How did you come up with only 2 double crochet where you started your decrease
Just put 2 in the space instead of 3. Not quite sure if that's what you're asking though, sorry! 🙈

I don't know how to do that but give Mr some time and I might be able to figure it out!
I've been crocheting for years, and I can't understand why you started the tutorial on round 2?
