Enjoyed this! I'll be tuning into her podcast. It was weird to me how for the past 3 days I kept thinking about looking back and rewatching the speech she gave during a commencement then this showed up on IG.
I think it depends on where you are in life when you get married as well. If you’re much older and have been married before with children, it’s not as simple. I still agree that a plan and honest discussion is needed for the marriage to be successful financially.

This was a healthy dialogue. Hubby and I are the same way. We both devote 100%! And I agree. It is sooooo easy. ❤
She is an intelligent, successful, beautiful woman. I'm glad they touched on marriage, "alpha females/masculine women" and agree that many times black women are forced into it. I had to change careers for a multitude of reasons but having to be in my masculine energy most of the time was one of them. I'm glad that you had her on. Also on a side note, I think you have grown a lot with your thinking and conversations around relationships, and I'm glad to see that you are on a better path.
With that said, if it wasn't for "masculine" women, along with black men, and some white people. We would still be sitting in the back of the bus.
You don't have to be a masculine woman to be a strong one.

Your Mom's question was valid...and may have only gone well because you did end up having a good support system in your other parent and the stepparent that came along...because often boys do blame the Mom or take out on the Mom when the father leaves...at least until they mature and heal.
