Oh yeah, he did. Freddie's vocals blasted anyone on this stage....Watch it again and see how he seem to appear mid way through the song. I have watched this many times and cannot understand how he seem to show up.....LOVE FREDDIE.
I have been a fanatical fan of Freddie's for 20 years and it warms my heart to see his fan base excelling rapidly with the younger generations. Which I credit to the biopic of Queen that just came out. Everyone already knew their incredible music, that is unless you lived under a rock. However, people got to see the side of Freddie that was human. The side that was gentle, shy, funny, sexy, smart, scrappy, courageous, determined etc.....
True that. I mean London alone. Status Quo Boomtown Rats Dire Straits Queen The Who U2 Sting/Phil Collins Elton John David Bowie Paul Young Paul McCartney UltraVox ....
Maybe then you should stop focusing on all the negative stuff and things you can not control and you won’t be so depressed !! Geez people die get the hell over it
Every cell of my body comes alive watching this again! For those of you who were not born yet, this time of band Aid, Live Aid, We Are The World was incredible. It was a moment in time when people all over the world came together & you could feel the power of that unity. The 80’s were not only about greed…
It really was amazing at the time, the thing I find incredible, is the fact that it's still raising money today, the off shoots of live aid, soccer aid, and comic relief, are still going strong, incredible in my opinion.
@@CatherineMcCauley-s2l yes, it was a truly remarkable era. Bob Geldof should have won the Nobel Peace Prize for his longtime efforts & contributions to World Peace & Famine Aid. We came together globally to point out a horrific tragedy & agree to help. But in America, there was hatred & divisiveness too. AIDs was a huge issue & a lot of people were scared. So was the crack epidemic. Famine in Ethiopia brought us together. While “White America /The Moral Majority” tried to make everyone terrified of gay & black people here at home. The only fully politically supported & promoted event from our government was Farm Aid. It was an incredible time, but I don’t want to over romanticize it…
I WAS THERE! 95° ALL DAY LONG. I WAS JUST TO THE LEFT OF THE SOUNDBOARD AND ENGINEERING BOOTH. About 15 feet from the front of it. I still have the Tshirt, Programme, and Ticket Stub. Plus I shot 11 rolls of 24 exposure 35mm film. I have about 250 pictures from the day. Something that will NEVER happen again in the future...
I've been watching this finale many times for several years. George Michael has been loved and will be missed. You are amazing! RIP George, Freddie, and David.❤💕
The media today would not be as forgiving as back then - the artists took a massive amount of the money sent in as 'expenses'. Geldof defended this as saying they were used to being flown in helicopters and 5 star champagne for example so it was perfectly normal but no, the whole point of this was to give money to the kids in Africa, so why not for one day, just one day, take the train and not a helicopter, drink some cola and not champagne? Not saying the cause and effort was not good more it would not be such a naive audience and media today. Gervais for example would have had a field day.
So many superstars these words make me cry every time I watch them and I've seen it literally hundreds of times. Now it's Christmas 2022 and the song remains relevant today with people all over the world going hungry and children literally starving in parts of Africa and beyond. FEED THE WORLD 🌎 ✨️ ♥️

Shame on the American artists who didn't show up and pulled out (for whatever reasons)....
We will never have an era like that in music again. Rock, pop, R&B, and rap are not what is was like back in the days. Nowadays, I don't even listen to new artists, just the classics.
I hate that I was born in this generation. My heart belongs to the music of this time. None of my friends understand what good music is they only listen to modern music while I only listen to 60s-80s. If anyone attended Live Aid whether Wembley or JFK I would love to hear some stories! Even if you saw anyone of these artists live!
I totally agree with you. I always say to my two teens, concentre on what you do have and not on what you do not have!!!!....our genation have no idea. This song is my favourite and this song yesterday come on the radio & I turned it up and my son who's 16 now has learnt a lot because of this song and the fact he liked the song, my son likes a lot of the 80's music where my daughter does not lol....this had given me a chance to really connect with my son about the meaning of what is happing in the world and he knows how blessed he is to have what he does and to be thankful, also he has a lot more compassion to the outside world around us. An amazing song brought together by such compassionate singers.

The sad thing is we can’t you can’t have an iconic concert like this with that many people watching due to many people nowadays only liking one genre of music and that is rap. Not saying rap is horrible but no rap concert can live up to Live Aid.
Live Aid is an incredible and wonderful parade of music legends, thanks forever Bob Geldof. That generation of artists will remain the only, unrepeatable and unattainable, historical memory of an extraordinary era of contents, colors, change, simplicity with few things. And nothing will be like it was then. Proud to have lived that era.
As year by year goes, this track will always remain as one of the most legendary Christmas tracks ever created, and what a legacy it has! As literally there's one month left till Christmas, no better time to play it than now, one of the very few tracks that'll never get old, no matter how many times you play it, and still hits the heart, and the same since its release. Amazing how many iconic legends we have collaborating for this iconic hit. Phil Collins with his legendary passionate drumming skills, George Micheal, Sting, Boy George, Bob Geldolf, and many more from the original, but David Bowie, and Freddie should have been apart of it since the start, sad to see that we're slowly losing them one by one, but lets all be grateful. All the best, hope everyone has a Merry Christmas, Feliz Natal, and Happy Holidays! 🎄☃🎁👋
When David Bowie handed that mic to George Michael he belted out that voice like nobody’s business , they didn’t know they were in the presence of one of the greatest legend in the world , best voice in the world , never to be forgotten , always in my heart 💕💕💕
Freddie had already stolen the show earlier in the evening. McCartney is a good vocalist but maybe not better than Bowie, Bono or Sting in that regard.
Sergi Roca Pedros Paul and Freddie weren't on the original record obviously, but they did manage to squeeze in a line or two here (however the footage here cut out Freddie and Paul singing together, there's an alternate version in circulation).
100% true! you all can see for yourself if you watch the AIDS benefit concert after Freddie died. Watch all the singers to come and try to sing what Freddie sang with Queen. Nobody could come to even half close to Freddie's vocals, and then GM came out with Somebody to love and he killed it! Right then, if anybody had any doubt it was sealed in front of million people! George Michael had the vocals that would send shivers through your spine, just like Freddie did! It was surreal, amazing! I never forget that concert!

Yes Queen were excluded from the Band Aid single due to them performing in Sun City in 1984 which apparently didn't go down very well with the muscians union at the time. Its earie to think that Freddie Mercury would feature in the last of the charity concerts in 1992 at Wembley. In spirit ofcourse.

It seems like an alternate reality to me to see freddie and bono literally touching shoulders
Oh yeah, he did. Freddie's vocals blasted anyone on this stage....Watch it again and see how he seem to appear mid way through the song. I have watched this many times and cannot understand how he seem to show up.....LOVE FREDDIE.
It looked like he was having a blast to me
Freddie is not in the original track
He knew he'd steal the show again!
George Michael knew the whole song 😊❤
He is truely missed.....so is Freddie and David 😢❤

Every cell of my body comes alive watching this again! For those of you who were not born yet, this time of band Aid, Live Aid, We Are The World was incredible. It was a moment in time when people all over the world came together & you could feel the power of that unity. The 80’s were not only about greed…
You are spot on, it was almost like the people had joined hands all around the globe. We will never see the likes of it again 💖
I agree, we were not dealing with the hatred and divisiveness that seems to be tearing our world apart today.
It was an incredible time, but I don’t want to over romanticize it…
People who attended this concert can die in peace.

I WAS THERE! 95° ALL DAY LONG. I WAS JUST TO THE LEFT OF THE SOUNDBOARD AND ENGINEERING BOOTH. About 15 feet from the front of it. I bought 4 tickets, and the other 3 went to my Air Force "friends", Kenny Marchon, Roger McCauslin, and John McGrath. We just got out to the Coach when Led Zeppelin came out in Philadelphia.

Maybe not many new artists now have enough talent and compassion (?)
They did We Are the World for Haiti and it was terrible
Bill Hill no no you’re absolutely right !
Highly unlikely''.
