I resurrected a Macbook Air early 2015. reapplied the thermal compound on the heatsink / cleaned the heatsink. replaced the battery. replaced the hard drive with a gamming nvme drive and adapter then replaced the OS with Tuxedo OS. runs like a beast. around £90 of work. well worth it.
@@WaffleTM420 Mac OS monterey reports 11 hours and about 6 hours watching youtube. Tuxedo OS on low power profile is about 7 - 8 hours but 5 hours watching youtube. so not much in it. not sure how to optimise linux further. just shows how optimised Mac OS is on Apples own hardware to eek out an extra hour

I agree. the only downside is the battery duration. I cant better than 7 to 8 hours before needing to charge compared to Mac OS
