It is a very good version and has earned a subscription from me. I don't think it surpasses the OG or the Bat the musical version though, as it works better as a duet. But I'm impressed enough to want to hear more.
To even attempt it as a cover solo has earned a massive amount of respect from me! Meatloaf's OG rendition is still king, but this is truly a worthy cover.
Considering Tommy said he'd never play this "I will play anything you want but I won't play that" this is sheer magnificence! Beautifully bombastic and a wonderful tribute to the big man we lost nearly two years ago. Hopefully for the second anniversary of Meats passing Tommy might like to mark the occasion by singing something about lying at the bottom of a pit in the blazing sun. I didn't think I'd ever hear a Tommy cover song that Meat Loaf sang. He's said it often enough himself. 😉But he heard his fans and today the surprise is all the greater. What can I say? A lot of times you hear a cover, and sure it might be sung well, but it still lacks emotion, which makes it not great. This cover lacks nothing! This is honestly really stunning. The original version was programmed into us and it is the only one accepted by our mind and body …until today. Yes, this song was epic as it is. But you took it to another level of epicness . I think there are actual nuances that meatloaf had that are missing here, buuuuut for me this is pretty close and even better, it leaves the excitement of possible growth :P (replicating iconic singers seems really hard if not impossible ) that was awesome 😊
