That's very disturbing that someone who's not allowed to stream because they're under age, but can be suggested content that is above their age. If you register and your birthdate signifies that you are < 18, any channel that has 18+ Age restriction notices should just NOT be listed to you EVER.

Twitch doesn't _want_ to, because those channels generate outsize revenue from horny simps. Who is or isn't underage or should or shouldn't or wants to get those recommendations isn't the point and never has been. Underage money spends the same, underage ad views likewise.

The moment they add nsfw/18+ tags, in order to separate adult streams from others, Twitch will have a big advertisement problem at hand. Because a lot of brands will just not want to advertise on streams with 18+/nsfw tags.

fr, I don't go to Twitch to was softcore corn. The rare moments I do hop on the website is when a World Race is happening in XIV or I'm extremely bored with UA-cam. Luckily the new dualcasting rules came out so the people who I do watch on Twitch now dualcast onto UA-cam so I can just avoid Twitch altogether now

When I made a Twitch account in 2012, it wasn't even this bad. I'd say the normalization of onlyfans and online sex work has really changed this for the worst...on top of that, dating has been made much difficult for an average man because of all of this as well..

Back in my day, early-mid 2000s, websites mainly used for flash games that were mostly pre-teen friendly (New Grounds, Kongregate, Funny-games... etc.) But also had adult content, hid it in a way that made the user have dig through a few layers website links and also click the "age verify 18+" button.
Whenever I reminisce with friends or others in my age group about the good ole' days of flash games and such, more often than not, they never knew about the adult section on those websites.
It may be an exercise in futility at this point in preventing adolescents access to adult content given how they're essentially raised from birth with an understanding of how to use the internet, as well as the total amount, shareability, and ease of access nowadays. But, there should be some level of attempt at preventing access to content that is obviously meant for 18+.
The first step in fixing a problem is recognising the problem… 👍

I've had a twitch account for years, only ever watched gaming content (never even clicked on a titty stream) and I still get recommended these streams. Everyone does.
I don't. I scrolled down about 80 thumbnails, and nothing.
Either I've trained the algorithm really well, or they don't do it to me because it might be illegal to do that in my country.
If it's the latter, it means they CAN do it, but WON'T.

Recently made a new one for my kids to share, and I can confirm this, it was pretty bad, took a long time to "clean it up". the best I could, they watch it with me so I keep an eye on it, just teaching them how to use the internet. I have had to go in and "clean it up" almost daily, about to give up been less then a week. says a lot. they are getting a lot of money too from those streams. How much do you think they would lose if they banned even for a month? I don't know enough about that side of twitch but I have an idea, based on the adult content net worth a year. and they don't have to pay....so ya, yuck all around.
The best part is that out of all those thumbnails the editor found, a few of them had to be censored 👀

@@djatlasmusik It is kinda weird knowing that they are revealing themselves under those circumstances, but it does ultimately fall on the parents to put actual effort into raising their kids since every website isn't guaranteed to be safe for kids. The second most responsible party would be twitch themselves for allowing this to happen despite them acting like they are the good guys when banning gambling but leaving this trash on the platform.
I also find girls doing this is significantly worse than gambling because gambling already exists in many streamable games outside of just gambling itself (Counter Strike 2), but a grown woman revealing herself in these circumstances on a gaming platform is just weird tbh.

The biggest dilemma with Twitch and UA-cam content that gets recommended to the average viewer:
- Lewd content on both platforms get absurd amounts of views even though they border on being age restricted and look as if they belong on cornhub
- They both won't be demonetized or removed because they bring in the already mentioned crazy amount of viewership numbers
Lewd content is literally the reason why Tiktok is failing in the West. Most Sponsors dont want their Products to get associated with a skimpy clothed young women doing Yoga

I'm from EU and even though I'm sceptical of it I believe the union should regulate stream sites and what they are allowed to stream. Otherwise what would be the difference between twitch and some other pornographic cam sites?

I was watching "Family Friendly" Twitch Streamer Phuzzybond last night who was talking about how Twitch is not kid friendly, and that even if a parent were to get on and search "Family Friendly", they would still get all the thumbnails of girls who look like they are naked.
He was saying something like 95% of the content on twitch is not good for children, and even when people like him try to make a safe place for them, its ruined by other twitch users and twitch staff don't give a damn.
He was also saying how people can't talk anymore with out cursing/swearing all the time and how he doesn't do that at all and can't understand why everyone on twitter is so foul mouthed (Probably a cultural thing because Phuzzy is from Jordan)

This stuff needs to have a Twitch 18+ website dedicated to it at this point. People can still use the same format but it wont be a click away (or even recommended) on the same site.

It's been getting worse for the last few months. Twitch used to recommend streams that were people who were speed running, casting eSports, doing technology podcasts, music, and doing IRL. The recommended feed over the last couple months especially has gotten bad enough to the point where I'm seeing thumbnails of what is basically content that belongs on a certain Orange themed website.
i made account back in 2007 and not long after leave twitch. Today, I tried logging in again to test this. and boy I get the same results in recommended.

I also did a test. I follow several people who are not related to that content. And the moment I click the twitch icon, I get those same exact female streamers. I haven't been an active Twitch viewer in years.
