Quit Making Excuses: Why Working Smarter Beats Working Harder (EP. 106)
Hard work is often seen as the key to success and for good reason. It is the driving force behind achieving our goals and reaching our full potential. However, it is important to understand the difference between working hard and working smart.
Working hard means putting in a lot of effort and dedication towards a goal, while working smart involves finding efficient and effective ways to reach that same goal. Both are equally important and can be combined for optimum results. It's not about how much time or energy we put in, but rather how we use it.
Sacrifice is also a crucial aspect of hard work. It may be necessary to give up certain luxuries or free time in order to achieve our goals. However, it's important to assess when the sacrifice becomes too much. It's crucial to maintain a healthy work-life balance and avoid burning out.

As a woman, I aspire to be like these men (in my own way). Especially as they talk about putting in the work. I respect and admire them all very highly.
Edit: at least until I heard the cheating justification on the Love and Respect episode, towards the end. I still think these men have a lot to offer, and I'm on board with most of what they say, but I just can't support that particular mindset.

This episode was great! I never thought I'd enjoy a podcast hosted by men, but to hear it from their perspective is insightful. This podcast is amazing & I'm glad it's three black educated men to show there are still healthy men in the world‼️

God made sure this episode was the one I had to watch today ! Everything from working smarter, not trying to fill that extra time with productivity to disciplining yourself to rest! I've been working since I was 16, had 2 jobs since college, and always felt like i had to keep myself busy because time doesn't come back or the next day isn't promised. But, by watching this episode made me realize that rest is actually better for my well being and using it to live more in the present than live to prepare for the future. Thank you guys! #1 Podcast ❣️

I also am curious, you guys never speak about your siblings, only parents or “family”. Can you guys talk about that? If you have any, their impact on you, how you’ve been shaped by family ?

Jalon spoke to maximizing time and Omar was talking about wisdom, I think both were expressing the importance of ✨delegating✨There’s definitely power in outsourcing and delegating to buy back your time.

Entering into my own entrepreneurial journey, I found this episode really enlightening; falling into my grind season is easier when I know I have that “rest” as a sort of reward, on top of the goal accomplished.

I’d like to say that change is hard because it requires us to be in a space of unknown/uncertainty. There’s a sense of safety that comes with knowing how something will happen as it allows us to prepare for what is to come. And I’d say that building new habits can actually help counteract the fears that come with change because it gives us more control over ourselves, in the process of change. It forces us to rely on self and build the internal sense of security that we might not feel as though we’re getting externally. But the challenge with habits, I’d say, is often not knowing where to start and not feeling as though we’re capable enough of accomplishing the thing we need to do; and in the long run that creates the lack of change we might be seeking and/or forced into.

Duke on point. They wasn’t understanding him with regard to work, sacrifice, and flow state.
    Meanwhile
Jalon gone do minimum work, make all the money, spend infinite time with family, instantly transfer flow state from task to task and sacrifice nothing. 😅😅 He did say he was a DOG!

I found this episode to be truly insightful. It arrived at a moment when those around me were urging me to rest due to my busy schedule, yet I am attuned to my body's needs. Balancing two jobs had left me feeling overwhelmed, especially when trying to manage a side hustle. Jalon's breakdown of allocating time for both sleep and pursuing goals deeply resonated with me. Appreciate y’all boys.

Just the opening had me like “this is exactly what I was looking for” I was just rewatching the episode on the importance of a routine . I am officially on Chanel’s shape and sculpt challenge and that’s caused me to set up a routine to get my workouts in. I get up at 5:30 am and I definitely sacrifice my rest because of my wants . 💚💯💪

I thought about something when you said saving for a home and 2500 a month for 2 years. It’s a 2 year plan, yes you can add more money to your savings each month. You can do that but if that ends up being you reach your goal in a year and a half or a year versus 2 years, you may not find the home that you want even with an extended budget. The 2 years give you the time to look for the perfect home, versus the home you’d settle for! I thought that would be a good point to add😊cheers! 🥃

Um wth is Jalon talking about?? Sacrifice is inevitable for success. Ask anyone who’s great at anything. Whether he wants to “label” it as a sacrifice or not. It’s sacrifice.
