I feel like the biggest take away is he had so many people that believed in him spoke greatness into him and went out they way to make sure he got to the NBA . We all need that fr
Regardless of all the injuries D Rose🌹 is a legend not only in the city but for people who got to witness his greatness in his MVP era and he is still one of my fave players tuh this day (in my Deontay Wilder voice)
D.Rose is the essence of Chicago! No matter what team he’s on or what city he’s in he represents the crib in mannerisms, language, being a man of respect and discipline. His transparency, honesty, and clarity during the convo was incredible and needed. Proud of fam 💯💯. Salute King! Dope ass episode!

Man Hoffa. You don’t know we been waiting for a in depth Derrick rose interview for so long. I’m glad you interviewed him man. The best platform for him to really talk. He was and still is a LEGEND in chicago I’m from south side chicago I’m 25 all them stories about him dunking head over the rim. Manhandling all Americans and nba players etc. Fastest player EVER in the NBA. Im glad either you or knuckle head podcast got him. Im so glad y’all touched on his upbringing and how many layers he had to overcome to make it. MVP at 22 years old. Like he said it’s at least 100k high level players all over the world and only 400 people in the NBA at a time. Thank you for this interview Hoffa ✊✊✊💯💯💯🤝🤝🤝
Dude got drafted #1 wearing #1 to his hometown team and became MVP (my fav MVP campaign 2 ME) got his fam out da trenches and became a Father, businessman and a student of life, not only is he already a HALL OF FAMER in my eyes but cuz is just a Flat Out WINNER! 🌹
MATH YOU THE 🐐 for this. Can’t lie, Derrick Rose gone forever be my guy, I don’t give a damn if he’s 12th man off the bench. Real ones shed a tear when he dropped that 50 pc in Minnesota cause we thought we’d never see one of those again, love from SC 🌍
Pooh was in my graduating class at Simeon in 07! I remember coming down the escalators at The Plaza on 95th and seeing em onna poster at the sneaka spot with HIS shoe in front of it! Felt good to see that. Bruh actualized his dreams and made the whole city proud wit his talent. Yo Math, thanks for sitting a legendary Chicagoan across from you. Bruh surprised me wit his knowledge of self. I needed to hear his testimony. Stay solid fellas. 100
Started hearing the hoop courts rumbling with DRose name al over the Chicagoland through northwest Indiana back then..by the time he was a senior every hooper knew rose was coming. He was a once in a lifetime player✌🏽❤️
I can't believe I just watched a 3-hour interview and enjoyed every bit of it. D-Rose is just an amazing person and his story really touched my heart. Bless you brother
This has to be one of the impactful interviews . He is a teacher naturally he cmands the room. He gave many jewels in this interview. No fluff, no distraction he had a focus conversation it felt like a audio biography/ documentary. So dope,, so nice I had to watch it twice.
Growing up, I was just like D Rose, just hooping for the love of the game, I never watched basketball until I was shown his highlights during his MVP year. That moment changed my life, and I took the game seriously. It's gotten me where I am today, and I know there are many more who can say the same thing. For his impact on so many young hoopers alone, he's a legend.
To me, this has to be one of my favorite introspective, humble, human, honest and pure to the heart portraits I've heard in a long time. The way he peels back and honestly credit to the other brothers in the room for helping him create a raw telling of his life with their own questions and insight, to keep him honest and to even open perspectives that we as fans mistakenly assume. I was absolutely glued, every aspect covered was revealing and awe inspiring at the same damn time.. Math, I'm a first time listener this was amazing, we need shit like this in schools, colleges, hell even as a work guideline to show success, whether gained through intelligence or hard work can not only set you free, it will evolve you in ways you never can be taught or even prepare for. Knowin yourself is half the battle. Kudos Math..
Derrick Rose great interview, very insightful. Derrick broke down how mental toughness, perseverance, humble beginnings & loving family (that had issues but protected him) helped him become the man & basketball player he became. He gave himself credit, for staying out the way when the unhealthy stuff surrounded him. Shoutout to the Chi-Town...for developing a dude like Derrick! Math Hoffa great interview! 💯💯💯💯💯
Tony Yayo & D Rose the only full interview I watched & listened to the whole thing front to back.... Yayo's was funny, had "drama" & entertainment...D'Rose's was thought-provoking and insightful......
Loved this interview! Derrick Rose is so introspective and self aware. I loved the part where he spoke about his confidence! That’s key in accomplishing anything! Great job Math! Salute!
Pooh really is the Rose that grew from concrete (pun intended). Even his flaws became gifts. I love the crochet fez he wears and respect his human journey. So inspirational.
One of the most appreciated interviews I seen salute Math. D Rose a disciple of the folks that had hardships in life and persevered through it to not only make it out but figure out who he truly is outside of ball. Inspirational fasho!
Been waiting for this one! Being from Chicago you remember his senior year was so different. He was/is that one for us. Appreciate y’all for getting this conversation
Wish I could give this 5 thumbs up. I asked you about this full interview a few days ago on Twitter & you delivered ASAP. You & your team's efforts don't go unnoticed. Preciate all the work yall doing.
I draw so much inspiration from this dude, geeked to hear everything in his own words. Super helpful for me in setting my path. Thank you Derrick, and Math for having him on
D rose has been my hero since he's rookie year, as a hooper and as a person he has been my hero, I love this interview, and I hope I live a day where I can meet my hero and tell him thank you for saving me mentally and physically. Thank you guys for this amazing interview.
Shout outs to Derrick Rose! I’m familiar with everything in Chicago because I grew up in Hammond, Indiana. The way he held it down in Chicago playing on the Bulls was amazing! My homeboy Yaree worked at United Center and would tell me how humble D.Rose is. Solid dude all around!
The dude next to Math be getting on my nerves, but I'm glad to see this side of D Rose all the pain he went through pretty much all alone and is still standing tall. I'm proud to be a fan, he's smart as hell and never let himself fully lose his love for Basketball.
Being a d rose fan since i was 9 years old n seeing more of who he is as a man got me glued to the screen, crazy you can see how captivated his story even has MEO, respect!
Dawg I’m so late. D Rose definitely my favorite baller of this era! Wanted him to come back strong after the injuries but this so much better than ballin!
Man Drose was a hero to me when I younger and it’s crazy because after watching this interview I realized how much we have in common like the man went through alot growing up from what I heard .. Rose Still a legend to Chicago no mater his career come down to 💯🙏🏽
I know I'm late but damn man D.Rose is the reason I love basketball. He got me into ball late when I was introduced to him in 2k and then from there a bulls fan!! Super motivating individual !! Much love D. Rose !!! 🌹
Very enlightening conversation I’ve always been a big fan of Derrick rose I resonated with him instantly and somehow i always knew he was conscious. Definitely a true warrior 🙏🏿
Wow.. I already had so much love and respect for D Rose having seen his journey from HS and beyond, but to see and listen to the depth of his perspective and intellect about so many aspects of life, that's on a whole nother level! Thanks for this one Math Hoffa and company, salute! ✊🏿
DRose as an athlete was like Bo Jackson, Barry Sanders, and Mike Tyson all in one. He had strength, speed, twitch, unreal athletic skills and confidence, and like Mike, he didn’t say much during the battle. He was a warrior. And psychologically that creeped his opponents out. DRose had that same vibe.
“ I have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable and I’ve to put myself in comfortable situations if I want to achieve what i want to achieve for my family “ I felt this 💯
Even more respect for D. Rose after this. To see his level of intelligence is refreshing. Far too long we never saw this side of him. He is forever legendary. 1 of the absolute beast on the floor in my lifetime. Salute Math & My Expert Opinion
Been watching drose since I was like 10 . Hes still my idol and my all time favorite basketball player I ever watched growing up as a kid . Him finally telling his story is amazing because he’s such a quiet person and would say nothing about himself for the longest . Makes me relate so much more to him because I’m also introvert aswell
I remember when he got hurt and I was so close to crying like to see him bounce back and still give you a solid 17-18 per game is just a testament to his skills LOVE YOU DROSE YOU still a top pg ever to me❤
Rose had me hooked on college ball the first time I watched him and he was my true introduction to the NBA (I use to be a bigger fan of college sports). His injury had me heartbroken my freshman year in college. The memory is still very vivid. I remember the moment, where I was and what I was wearing. I called my guy bf who also was a super fan and we were distraught for a while. I couldn’t believe it. After that I couldn’t get attached to any player anymore and I don’t have a huge love for sports at all. I think I was really heartbroken and sad for Rose for a long time. I pray he shines as often as he possibly can. I pray he, and his family, are forever taken care of. ❤❤❤❤
love when he said he doesn’t hide nothing from his son. my pops the same way with me. i understand why some people do hide shit, but some of us need the reality and truth to learn it all and seeing that transparency is important. d rose is one of them ones fr.
One of the doper interviews I’ve ever tuned into. Also had no idea how intellectual (woke) and aware Derrick Rose was about life and reality. Got a whole different respect for him outside of being a legendary athlete. 🙌🏽
Chicago Stand Up 🖤✊🏿 Beautiful Dialogue. Love D Rose. It’s Fulfilling To Hear His Injury Led Him To A Path Of Enlightenment. Even If They Don’t Put Him In The Hall Of Fame, He Undeniably Legendary 💫
This is one of Math Hoffa's best interviews. I am from Chicago and followed his career since high school. My grandmother used to say that " Still waters are deep". The media in Chicago portrayed him as "shy" but he always had a lion's heart. I am glad that he was able to express himself on this platform.
I’ve learned so much from D Rose 🌹 fr fr that I will carry with me his humbleness, confidence and high level of discipline and determination is inspiring. 👑🔥💯‼️
As an athlete all my life playing football and baseball with mad injuries and concussions, that shit D Rose said about "nobody remembers the names of the gladiators" hit close to home.
A great example of humility? Humility is letting others go first, especially in matters of preference, like recess, activities, punchline, etc. Speaking well of others and congratulating them for a job well done - Giving credit where credit is due. Performing hidden acts of service, avoiding bragging and showy actions done for acknowledgement.
I love D-Rose and hearing the humble guy give so much insight into his life and journey for the first time but the other thing I really like about this interview is MATH HOFFA’s listening skills and letting Derrick talk openly without cutting him off. It’s a skill that not many interviewers/hosts have which makes me respect him a lot. Great interview!
This podcast makes me realize I do wish if its possible to individually and personally thank those who know we dont realze yet are watching over us ..... Thanks to all the big bros......
GREAT EPISODE!!! Pooh is a CHITOWN 🐐🐐🐐. MATH you did a GREAT JOB!! I love hearing him talk and walk us through all the details he never spoke on. ⛹🏽♂️🏀
Wow 8 straight championships appearances from the 6 grade to college that's incredible work. This man lived and breath and played 🏀 with passion and anger.Rose was 1 to fear.My favorite point guard. He was that a pure beast.I hate that health beat my brother body down.

Drose is will always be my favorite nba player.. growing up in LA in the 90s it was an understatement to be a laker fan but I was fascinated with Mjs game.. so since watching Jordan win his last ship in 97 I’ve been a bulls fan thru thick & thin.. hope one day i can see Drose play live that’s on my bucket list!
This interview my favourite of all time drose been my idol since I was a kid was awesome that we got to see an insight of his life and the values he live by
Shouts to Hoffa, the staff, and my Chi-town brethren D. Rose. Great interview. Also, salute to Bigga for putting on for The Hamashiach. Christ is King 👑
man i cant lie i was GLUED To this for the whole 3hrs. derrick rose has always been cemented as one of my favorite players on the court but hearing is perspective, introspection and just general thought process and rationale when it comes to living in shit like the south side chi, and even PAST his injuries and experiences ? eloquent black man. i resonated with alot of what he said especially trying to prosper as a black man in traditionally homogenous spaces. i always saw clips of this podcast/talkshow but never thought anything of it. im a fan, massive kudos to yall man im beyond estatic that i got to hear him tell his story.
Here a few days after the announcement of his retirement. Just want to say THANK YOU from a kid who went through a lot as well and used basketball as an outlet
D rose is was and will continue yo be the absolute ³embodiment of natural superstar ability God given talent mentally physically and emotionally gifted and humble like he was built for the position
That boi Sean Bigga is on point!! His back is to the door but his head is on a swivel! Y'all can imagine what he has in that bag! SALUTE brotha....protect ya neck and watch the bag!!!✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿

That didn't feel like an interview with unnatural questions, it was a conversation, where every can say their piece, much respect!
He really was built for it
Ion have idols but definitely the inspiration fr

Sean Biggs is a BIG Hater… He reminds me of a bigot who claims to be a man of God but has hate in his heart
hoop dreams always came with shoveling snow off tha court

Hometown hero. A rose that grew from the concrete. Miss him playing here, as a fan it really felt like family in Chi
Yo I respect Rose to a whole new level now. It’s ridiculous what he did and accomplished at such a young age.
