and this was the FINALE! Our boy Hugh had been on stage all night dancing and singing ... his energy never droppe for a minute. GOD HE WAS AMAZING. I admit going 11 times ... and would have gone more if I could have! Mr. Jackman is a bone fide star and his charisma and sheer joy captivated everyone in every seat in the theatre! He was flawless, flawless, flawless. YUMMY!
I went to see Peter Allen in the mid 1980s at Ontario Place in Toronto. I knew nothing about him other than this song. It was a great show. I had no idea that I would move to Melbourne in the 2000s and end up this show in Aussie.
Who's here because of The Music Man? I saw Hugh today and he was wonderful. But I will never forget seeing this amazing show live, especially since I went w my late roommate.
Simply Brilliant! What a talented guy Hugh is! Sometimes we forget the many facets his career has had -- Absolutely NOBODY could possibly dream of doing all he does!
Hugh Jackman gave the best male performance in a musical I'm the last hundred years. I saw the show three times and I only wish there was a video of it.
Fabulous, takes me back to that night in the Imperial Theater when I saw this amazing man perform. He was wonderful, energetic, charismatic, and never missed a show, not even when he had stress fractures in his foot. I am anxious for him to return to Broadway, I hope he will. I just like to hear him sing, wish he'd record an album. He is gorgeous, too. Those hazel eyes melt me!
Hugh was superb ....this musical was tailored made for him...Peter would have been so pleased, thanks for the post and to Genia106 for sharing....Bravo !
My cousin zak rolton was in this year’s boy from oz as a young peter allen, my uncle his father was playing his manager. So proud of the places they have gone
What a FASCINATING contrast. Hugh Jackman, famous for playing one of the most badass and manly characters ever, doingg THIS!! XD And I mean it in a good way.
Bless him, Hugh Jackman has already proven everything in 'Birdman' was wrong. A movie superhero CAN go to Broadway and totally reinvent himself onstage.
He was definitely playing them both at the same time. The musical he was doing when he got hired for Wolverine was Oklahoma and he auditioned with curly hair lol
I predict one day, after we're all gone, they make a play or movie of Hugh Jackman's life. From is strict childhood with abandonment issues from his mother, to his early career when he met the love of his life, Deb (mommy issues again) to his B'way and Movie career, and whatever is yet to come! Loving Hugh at this moment.
Thank you egazeba for these great videos!!!! The ones from Act Two are so moving and emotional..I tell everyone to keep the tissues handy! The ovation after Once Before I Go was well deserved! Jarrod Emick is charming as Greg too. I wish they had recorded the whole show before it was over so all of us could see it! Thanks to you we can at least come close to being there!
@pec2pec Great!! I had no idea but must thank you so very much for posting all that you have - I loved this show so much and am delighted to see it on youTube...thank you! My friend and I once followed Peter Allen to his show in Puerto Rico and after it followed him to a gay bar where we danced and had a great time - my love of him goes back to the 80's and this show brought back so much of the feelings of that time...thanks again!
GRAZIE GRAZIE GRAZIE GRAZIE GRAZIE.....! Living in Italy I could never see this, but I "experienced it" through friends who were lucky enough to see this in NY or Australia and... I fell in love with it! Thanks for uploading!
Some people are just mean here.Peter Allen was gay.Hugh Jackman is just portraying the role.Hugh is a multi-talented actor playing the part.Hugh is as straight as your going to get.
@pec2pec Ah...right! I too am surprised there has not been a recorded version of the show available for sale - I'd buy it in a moment! Missed opportunity if you ask me.....
well you are listening to an illegally copied segment of the Broadway production....I'm amazed that it sounds as good as it does! I saw this show 5 times - I can assure it was one of the best shows I have ever seen on Broadway!
@jo123phoebe: I live in NYC, so I'm aware of the Lincoln Center Public Library archives. Unfortunately, not ALL Broadway shows have filmed for the archives. The practice only began in the early 70s, and one of the heartbreaking omissions is the original Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim's FOLLIES, which I think is the most extraordinary (and visually spectacular) musical I've ever seen.
I understand the nice gesture and I really appreciate it as a brazilian. I just have to say that the song mentions salsa(we do not dance salsa) and La Bamba...this is a big lack of information. Kind of saying vegemite is from Ireland
@jo123phoebe: Although I haven't seen it myself, I'm sure THE BOY FROM OZ was filmed for the archives; the quality of Jackman's performance (which took the town by storm) made its inclusion a certainty. Normally, it's the flops that run for a week or less, or shows from the 70s that (for whatever reason) missed out on being filmed, that aren't part of the archives.
@Caramia112 Then i would like to know where and how i can get one of those. Producers are mad not to bring this out on dvd. I think it would do very well
This is pretty much the only where I was certain I had just seen the Tony Award winning performance of the season and I had not seen all of the other performances and it was only December
He tries to imitate Peter Allen's voice who, let's face it was not what you call 'what a voice'. Want to listen to the real Hugh Jackman? Search 'Oh What A Beautiful Mornin' or 'The Surrey With The Fringe On The Top' from Oklahoma, 'Soliloquy' from Carousel, 'Me' from Beauty & The Beast or 'Somewhere' from West Side Story. You'll find all of them on youtube. Then come and tell me Jackman is a 'terrible singer'. Someone must be deaf to think so after he listens Jackman singing the above songs.
Thanks, but it was actually "egazeba" (see right) who did the posting. I should also add that I'm equally grateful to "egazeba" because these clips are all that's left of a remarkable theatrical experience. Considering the multitude of Hugh Jackman fans out there, I'm baffled why it was never professionally recorded - as, say, PASSING STRANGE was.
@Cavillier1970 I read an interview with Stephanie Bock that he broke his foot and did 6 weeks of the show with it broken! Can you imagine what that must have been like?
@Cavillier1970 I don't think it will ever happen. Maybe they'll bring the show back in the future, one can only hope! I saw it six times. I've seen the bootlegs, they are okay, but definitely not like seeing the show. I think some of the snips of the show on UA-cam are pretty good. When I feel like "seeing the show", I scroll through them.
@Cavillier1970 Yeah, well I would have loved them to have done one like Trevor Nunn did Oklahoma . . . but alas. I was hoping that perhaps they would have recorded the Australian arena version he did a couple of years later, but I have only seen some audience clips of it on UA-cam :(.
@musicsavage it's called Acting. he's playing a role. He's not gay at all actually. In fact he's happily married to a gorgeous woman name Deborah-Lee and they have two children together.
Daniel Craig is one of the better looking Bonds. Second only to Sean Connery. I think in every movie he's been in he's had a certain level of class that not many actors have. Hugh has that same class. Daniel has done a good job. But Hugh was amazing in this. Great singer, actor, dancer, and incredibly hot.
That's normal they're moving around. It happens to all singers that dance. That's why a lot of contemporary singers use a background of themselves so they could move around without singing.
It was not a good show save for Isabel Keating's amazing portrayal of Judy Garland and for Hugh Jackman. The sequence above would be fabulous on it's own; but it occurs at the end of the show, after nearly 2 hours of Jackman constantly being on the stage, half of the time singing and dancing. He was super-human!
Hi egazba, Where did you get these videos? They are wonderful, and I truly enjoy seeing them--almost like seeing the show--which I didn't. I am a fan of Mr Jackman's and thinkthat he is so very talented. I especially like his musical performances. Thanks for posting.
This isn't illegal - it was part of the media reel that was created by the show's management for broadcast on news & entertainment outlets (otherwise it would have been yanked long ago). I also saw the show a number of times, and Hugh Jackman gave the most explosive and electrifying performance I've ever seen on Broadway - and I've been seeing Broadway musicals for over 30 years.
and this was the FINALE! Our boy Hugh had been on stage all night dancing and singing ... his energy never droppe for a minute. GOD HE WAS AMAZING. Who's here because of The Music Man? I saw Hugh today and he was wonderful. But I will never forget seeing this amazing show live, especially since I went w my late roommate.
I was fortunate enough to see the show on Broadway. Jackman nailed it . . . and then some!
There is one on yt I mean sometimes it cuts out but it’s overall fine
Wolvering dancing and singer , is amazing😂
I saw him do this on Broadway...he was truly AMAZING...one of the greatest stage performances I have EVER seen!!!
Fabulous, takes me back to that night in the Imperial Theater
when I saw this amazing man perform. He was wonderful, energetic, charismatic, and never missed a show, not even when he had stress fractures in his foot.

Many thanks for this. I'll bet it's one of the happiest endings to a show ever.
Just wow. Mr. Jackman totally gets the great Peter Allen.
I loved this show so much that I saw it twice!
What a FASCINATING contrast.
Hugh Jackman, famous for playing one of the most badass and manly characters ever, doingg THIS!! XD
And I mean it in a good way.
I agree!
how versatile!!! love you, Hugh jackman!!!
One of the most talented men ever, a God-send.
HJ is electric!!! Hollywood's genuine triple threat!! I am in awe!! 💯👏🏽✔️✨
Peter would have loved this!
Boo. You

Sicko
I saw this show at the Enmore theatre. Huge Jackman is brilliant. Peter Allen would have loved it. I have the Boy from Oz album.
Jackman Love you xoxoxo❤❤❤
Bless him, Hugh Jackman has already proven everything in 'Birdman' was wrong.
A movie superhero CAN go to Broadway and totally reinvent himself onstage.
+William Craig Pretty sure he played the boy from oz before wolverine.
The first X-Men movie was in 2000. Boy From Oz was 2003.
He was definitely playing them both at the same time. The musical he was doing when he got hired for Wolverine was Oklahoma and he auditioned with curly hair lol
With that said....
Imagine instead of maracas he had his sets of claws on. XD
He did musicals in Australia for at least a decade before playing Wolverine.
Hugh Jackman ❤😂
this makes me so happy. I remember hearing this on the radio growing up
Peter was truly one of a kind.
2:11 that's the amazing Stephanie J. Block as Liza :)
What a talented actor😮 Hugh Jackman Love you More than anything
idol hugh jackman good dancing
Love these clips. Wonderful top shelf entertainment.
Man...I love Hugh Jackman...
Didn't he go straight from this to Wolverine? He's so awesome!!
ugh i would have killed to have seen this live 😍
OMG Hugh Jackman!
Hugh Jackman was 35 yrs old in this
who would've guessed this actor would go to become the definitive Wolverine
Wow. Just wow.
I wish somebody would make a movie with Jackman and Harry Connick Jr as musical brothers.
He is absolutely mesmerizing.
Jackman is the best performer ever!!!
Bravo!

EXCELENT.. FROM COLOMBIA.. CONGRATULATIONS!!
Man can Hugh Jackman dance :D
So this is how Wolverine pays the bills in the off-season when the villains are on holiday...respect. Man's got range.
His smile melts me
GRAZIE GRAZIE GRAZIE GRAZIE GRAZIE.....! Living in Italy I could never see this, but I "experienced it" through friends who were lucky enough to see this in NY or Australia and... I fell in love with it! Thanks for uploading!
I think Hugh Jackman is such a versatile performer.
Can you believe this is wolverine?? So talented.
I already did last week....
And those were very beatiful scenes ^_~
And it's beautiful!!!
He is portraying PETER ALLEN, a grammy receipient australian singer in the 80's who died of aids.
Some people are just mean here.Peter Allen was gay.Hugh Jackman is just portraying the role.Hugh is a multi-talented actor playing the part.Hugh is as straight as your going to get.
Straight, gay...what makes the difference is what you bring to the role.
NO! 🚫 Hugh Is FLAMING GAY! 🔥 🏳️🌈
No he isn't. At least now we know
Hugh didn’t state being straight or gay whenever somebody asks him he just says it doesn’t matter
I’m from the future… he divorced his wife about a year ago for a man
@pec2pec Ah...right! I too am surprised there has not been a recorded version of the show available for sale - I'd buy it in a moment! Missed opportunity if you ask me.....
Music Man revival.....fall 2020. With Sutton Foster.
Love it !

Couldn't have said it better myself! :D
Favorite part, next to his little dance with Isabel, is when Jarrod and Stephanie pop out and he dances with them.
The little boy is very talented as well.
I understand the nice gesture and I really appreciate it as a brazilian. I just have to say that the song mentions salsa(we do not dance salsa) and La Bamba...this is a big lack of information. Kind of saying vegemite is from Ireland

Anyone know if this out on dvd? I'dlove to get the performance.
Oh cool. thanks :)
Fantástico!
Lol I love this song
lol my favorite part! I was rejoicing **D
@Caramia112 Then i would like to know where and how i can get one of those. Producers are mad not to bring this out on dvd. I think it would do very well
l'uomo più bello( e bravo) del mondo
@Cavillier1970 It's not on DVD -- it's a shame, the show was fabulous!
well said tet43 and very diplomatic too :)
How nice to see Liza Minelli having a good time!
This is Wolverine??
Yessssssssssssssssssssss
Yes...this is one of the hottest straight men on the planet......
Yes.
The Magic of Broadway
He's reported to do another Broadway performance with Daniel Craig in late September of this year!
I like the tune
This is pretty much the only where I was certain I had just seen the Tony Award winning performance of the season and I had not seen all of the other performances and it was only December

When he starts to sing
@Cavillier1970 I read an interview with Stephanie Bock that he broke his foot and did 6 weeks of the show with it broken! Can you imagine what that must have been like?
Wow
I love him ha ha
Sing it, Wolvie! :D
Hugh Jackman plays a better homosexual than all of the "confirmed bachelors" watching this video.
@Cavillier1970 I don't think it will ever happen. Maybe they'll bring the show back in the future, one can only hope! I saw it six times. they are crazy
@musicsavage it's called Acting. he's playing a role. He's not gay at all actually. In fact he's happily married to a gorgeous woman name Deborah-Lee and they have two children together.
This is Wolverine people. Let that sink in.
A A really? There was me thinking it was an actor called Hugh Jackman!
3:05 Shake that ass wolverine!
Daniel Craig is one of the better looking Bonds. Second only to Sean Connery. I think in every movie he's been in he's had a certain level of class that not many actors have. He was fabulous, but for me Todd McKenny was the best, he was born for the role.
Yeah, a steady rain. You can buy tickets on their website
