You won’t feel like rowing after your first 2k
A few years ago I experienced a rather severe spontaneous fracture of the [right] hip, which, undiscovered for some time, then contracted Osteoarthritis. From having danced, ridden & run - all for years - I now had to approach my personal ideas of fit-fitness & aerobic-movement in a totally reconceptualised manner. I have considered rowing... but, I know my right hip is going to be quite restrictive. I have images of my, unknowingly, over-doing it, resulting in my hip being even further compromised... ?
Hip flexion is critical in rowing and 120 degrees of comfortable flexion is an ideal minimum. I know your post is over a year old, but have you tried it yet?
Pretty great video
1:56 Surely the stroke doesn't finish at the neck, like these two guys do and similarly at 0:20, the two guys in the middle are practically horizontal at the finish?
Excellent video! Thanks a lot for uploading!
@HenleyRoyalRegatta you've really got to get someone to proofread the text in your videos, this one included. Example: 00:38 into the video, "GB Men's -4" Is the -4 a new event on that side of the pond? 😉
A -4 is a four boat without a Cox.
Andrew Madden 4- means coxless four (sweeping), a 4 is a quad (with or without cox)
Have been looking for this video, thank you!
I feel like rowing now.
