Bark! Bark!
I was already sitting. I just continued to sit.

100% agree. Also Snarky > Megan

Absolutely!
A24 taking a page out of the fake mobile game ads
Warner Brothers beat them to a punch with a similar promotion for I AM LEGEND 17 years ago (AI notwithstanding). But to your point - movie posters not accurately representing the films they're promoting? The next thing you'll know, we'll find out there's gambling in Casablanca.
The best example of this that pissed me off was the movie Predators. The trailer and poster showed an army of Predators. But in reality there were only...three.
I’m only seeing three in the poster too, which one are you talking about?
@alexman378 I can't post a link to it here. But they corrected it after people bitched about it. Just Google "Predators Royce multiple lasers" and you'll see examples of them showing 15 Predators laser weapon targeting beams on him.
@alexman378 I can't post a link here. Just Google it. It shows Royce being targeted by 15 Predator shoulder cannon targeting lasers.
@alexman378 If you do an image search, you can find it. I can't post a link or even type the search term here.
@@spaceforce-girlforcejjwest2048 Are you sure that wasn't a cut plot from The Predator vs. Predators? And I will see your Highlander Endgame and raise you one Highlander The Source.
The Movie, the concept behind the movie, the marketing is all one big ripoff!
I saw the San Francisco poster somewhere on Twitter. Having seen the movie three times, I knew the image wasn't from the movie.
I thought it was some type of what if poster or a "Civil War: The Video Game" inspired image. I honestly didn't see it as false advertising.
But at a $50 million dollar production budget, A24's biggest budget to date, I can imagine the suits were looking for cheap ways to promote the movie to get to that (approximate) $125 million break even mark.
False advertising is SUPER ANNOYING and always has been. I remember movies used to put scenes in trailers that weren't in the actual movie. I'd eventually watch it and wait for the part and it would never come. Setting you up for a false expectation feels like a betrayal of trust and down right gives me dirty cars salesman vibes! AI imaging has so many problems with it right now it's creepy and spooky. I made a lot of images and the AI gets confused and will do really WEIRD things like give people fingers for toes or toes for fingers or a 3rd or even 4th arm and one coming out it's back. The rest of the image is basically a perfect piece of fantasy art and is cool. The entire thing just makes you think where is this whole AI thing going and will the future be a better or worse place? I'm not convinced. Thanks for making these types of videos Jay they are super awesome! 🔥🙏
Great assessment 👍🏻
@@AdamDust Thanks 🙏
@@AdamDust Not really. 😂
@@Fiveash-Art how so?
@@AdamDust Well, I had a comment up there where I described why A.I. is more interesting when it's making mistakes. But UA-cam decided to delete it. I hate this platform so much. The censorship here is ridiculous.
The movie is terrible. It makes sense that the marketing would be terrible, too. Sadly, this isn't new, it's just worse thanks to technology. This has happened in trailers for a long time, where they include scenes that aren't in the actual movie.
I love how only the sphere was busted but the city around it looked ok.
A bet a lot of A.I poster stuff is just some middle man saving money from not paying a real digital artists, 100% with you here Snarky Jay,.....(noticed a guitar, you play, that is awesome!)
Reminds me of a movie quote.
"You see what I mean? It's plump, it's juicy, it's three inches thick. Now, look at this ...sorry, miserable, squashed thing. Can anybody tell me what's wrong with this picture?"
The biggest surprise was that it was a Kirsten Dunst movie
Off topic Jay and I know its normally not your thing BUT since you love The Crow so much, a watch along with you would be fun!
Hah, I’ll see about doing that sometime!
Either it was a lazy Graphic Designer or the filmmaker thought he could save a buck by not hiring a designer, instead opting to make the posters himself and thought that he/she could get away with cheating like that. Stuff like this is why I got fed up with and left the industry. No respect for those of us who actually do good work.
Wow, that is deceitful. Thanks for pointing it out Snarky Jay
thank you for speaking up on this jay and getting the facts out there ❤
Thank you for listening!
I've seen trailers before where some scenes shown don't actually appear in the movie. Unfortunately I don't think anyone will be bringing a lawsuit against A24 for this anytime soon. With movie posters they can just say it was an illustrative representation of a scenario that appears in the movie or with trailers they can say these scenes were cut subsequent to the trailer being put together.
Bro, are you evolving into an entertainment news channel? Because I am so here for that.
I like your regular content too, dgmw, but this is cool too.
Love to see the growth, keep at it!
I’m trying to do a little bit of that to see if people like it! I honestly find this kind of content a lot more rewarding.
"I have had it with these [melon-farming] Shawshanks on this [melon-farming] plane!"
Another amazing video Snarkyjay ❤❤😀😀.
Snarky-I remember Marvel/Disney doing this with Avengers Infinity War, showing the Hulk running with the others in the battle of Wakanda, which never took place. Also, a movie studio got sued by two people for showing Ana DeArmas in a movie trailer, but she never appeared in the movie.
It was universal and they were sued by two men for the movie yesterday, Most of their claims in the suit were dismissed. They didn’t win because class certification was denied, universal won attorneys fees so the most plaintiffs could recover is $8 and universal agreeing to forego attorneys fees. Try reading up on it. Stuff gets edited to the cutting room floor all the time.
@@kevinm.3506 I remember reading the article but did not remember the result of the case. Thanks.
Honestly, I'm quite grateful you're not Megan Fox.
The recent Universal/Yesterday case springs to mind and that was basically dropped. Interesting Variety article on it.
Dang girl you just keep knocking it out of the park of your outfits. I appreciate it. Thanks for the content and have a really Nice day.😉🌹
Hello Jay another great video 😊😊😊
Happy Wednesday Jay
Way to go snarkyJay!!!
Thanks.
Bait in switch!
For now, part of the reason is because they didn't have enough or because they edited some scenes out of it that would have featured these scenes
Nice, i didn't see this story. Keep it up, Jay.
I'm glad you reviewed before I watched it. I was also misled by the trailer. I'll wait for it on a streaming
This affront to proper theology and geometry cannot stand! This rivals the foul perfidy of fake Infinity War posters showing Hulk!!
I’ve seen trailers that had scenes that didn’t make it into the theatrical cut.
I don’t think they were trying to show scenes in the posters. Most films never do movie posters with scenes. They’re just trying to showcase the scenario for the film.
This does have its big tow dipped into the Lanham Act in that these images "misrepresents the nature, characteristics, qualities," of the movie.
OMG!!! I laughed so hard at this video!!!😅 Thank you!
Sweet that your dogs wanted to be part of the video. 0:32
I see your point but this stuff has been happening for years . When Batman Forever came out there where people asking where the scene with the giant bat was . That scene as well as others was in the trailers but not the final cut . There are other movies that have done that and confused people . This time it's AI not some studio guy changing things up and confusing people.
The issue here, along with the embarrassing use of AI in posters (A24 upscaling a mid-budget film trying to sell it as the ultimate “action-packed” “high-octane” - other similar marketing logline bs - blockbuster of the year - especially considering how weak 2024 blockbuster season looks), is that the film is missold. I just saw it in theatres and when we compare trailer (action-packed, similar to ´Olympus has fallen´), vs the actual movie (a War drama which doesn´t even explain the motivations of both sides - which is actually the selling point of the film - and which offers a run-of-the-mill road trip going-from-one-place-to-another (in the vein of ´Children of Men´or ´War of the Worlds´ but comparing Spielberg or Cuaron´s track record in filmmaking and storytelling with the unbearably overrated Mr Garland would be laughable) with no action scenes, other than a low-budget opening in NY, and the film´s climax in DC). Flat delivery, flat characters, no character arc, tasteless use of music... And NO ACTION. It´s not a surprise A24 decided to pull off several “what if” posters to save the day. The problem relies on the film´s multiple weaknesses and the will to cheat audiences with a trailer (and the overall marketing campaign, even the font in the key art is misleading). Yet, it´s not the first time misleading posters have been created for films (looks like we´re inventing the wheel everytime a post on youtube echoes information posted in the press - Entertainment trades). Embarassing ideas, although I get the point in some cases, as it´s aimed at local audiences - local campaigns, like Batman Begins - Barcelona: www.impawards.com/2005/batman_begins_ver11.html , They did that with Roland Emmerich´s classics like ID4 (mothership over many cities - well, that was briefly explained in the film), or The Day After Tomorrow. This time around, A24 made a huge reputational misstep trying to play the blockbuster game (or again, just a Lionsgate action film) with a 50 mil budget film
They're basically saying, "The AI promotion images are what we WANTED to make in the movie, but could only afford to make the rubbish we actually put on film".
And thank you for letting us all know Jay!😊❤
Unfortunately, miscommunication is the killer of any business.
All teams have to work together, not separate.
Couldn't they be sued for false advertising???
Thanks for sharing
Not only false advertising Civil War, A24 edited out Godzilla, Rodan, King Kong and other kaijus destroying US cities from the movie!
Yup….. I was looking for the snipers that took up shooting positions in the torch of the Statue of Liberty. It was one of the Civil War posters that I saw. That scene was never in the movie. Class action law suit. Yes please.
Wait waut wait wait wait wait wait wait! What??? Are we Voltroning The Shawshank Redemption with Con-Air?
Damn it now I need this in my life!
I'm glad you called bullsh*t on this everybody is trying to get away with something. Your vids are getting funnier and cooler all the time. The energy is fantastic
Thank you so much!
@@snarkyjay goddamn your hot is hell best youtuber
I loved touching on a Con Air mkt campaign to sell Shasank Redemption. Spot on
I appreciate your passion for authenticity, Snarky Jay. With that said, movie posters have been lying to us for decades, way before AI was ever an issue. This doesn't phase me one bit. The biggest lie and most offense lie in film is not imagery in posters that don't exist in the film. Rather, the biggest lie in film is using beloved IP as a vehicle to peddle an agenda, instead of celebrating what people loved about that IP.
Isn't this where they're saying. "Don't judge a book by it's covered." Comes from?
Happy Wednesday Jay! I thought the picture of your dogs look cute!!
Happy Wednesday to you too my friend!
Movie posters are becoming like dating site profile pictures...
I laughed pretty hard at how funny you are when your mad . Cussing up a storm. I love It
I finally get the name of that band "three doors down"
I agree to some degree... you have to realize some poster are just merely advertising of the movie product not necessarily showcasing scenes like case in point the second Ironman movie the poster advertisement was I believe Tony, Obidia and Pepper with Ironman 2...so it all depends on the angle of use...but again I totally agree with your view and opinions which pointed out some visuals I missed thanks Luv keep kickin' asphalt...😂
Saw it at the cinema with my son... good movie...play it loud at home to get the effect from the guns in the theatre...cause the guns play super loud
Nothing shocking here. The original Film Twister has a major trailer moment where a cow is floating in the air and a tire crashes through their window. None of which was in the film. That's just one of 1000s of examples.
I totally get you. A24 basically pulled a bait and switch on people. It should be illegal and subject to lawsuit.
They've been doing it for a while now. Go watch the trailer for "Sorry to bother you" then watch the movie. The movie WAS NOT as depicted in the trailer...
Love the Con-Air & Shawshank comparison 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Now you got me wanting Con Shawshank Air. Hollywood make it happen!
On a more relatable note to this topic, I think people have actively pursued lawsuit against studios before for false advertising. I remember a while back reading an article that two gentlemen was pursuing a lawsuit for a film called “Yesterday” in which Ana De Armas was substantially featured in the trailer and the end product was less than advertise.
I’d argue though that if done right, you can have a hell of a movie on your hands, From Dusk Till Dawn for example.
A.I will be the down fall of pop culture:
The future will be, a dude sat at home, hey computer, I'd like to watch a movie with Silvester Stallone fighting a clown in a forest while trying to get the president of America to change his mind about his favourite Ice cream, no more than an hour computer.... Everyone will have their own movie experiences other than sharing experiences, even in the music world now, people will become so self indulgent that the world will be filled with a slug-style mud of A.I clones, like the dark ages before the reissuance, there will just be darkness but a darkness of A.I, this will be our future for Pop and culture ....Bleak but it's gonna happen, after Disney/Marvel watched the newest A.I movie software demo, they cancelled buying 3 more extra sound stages, so they are in for sure with next gen A.I, so give it 20 years at the max and Pop culture is gone!
It's kinda similar to how they have movie trailers with scenes and dialogue that don't even make it into the final released theater version, always wondered how that is allowed.
Wow, this movie is not about Civil War. It has another meaning behind the Name!
Meanwhile, promotional material for video games from the 70s and 80s.
"What if I was that sexy, right?"
Who's gonna tell her?
I don't mind the poster not being exactly from a frame in the film. But it should be representative. And Ai itself is a massive problem and a no-go for me.
marketing for movies lately have gone severely downhill. godzilla x kong has been the only standout as of late.
Great video! Around the 5min mark, you went into OVERDRIVE. Very funny! Loved it. You or Meghan Fox? No contest. Latina REALNESS (in all aspects 😉), wins every time! At least for me it does. And that denim was “workin”
Promised: gigantic battles and non stop action.... delivered: Kirsten Dunst cosplaying as Bob Woodward...🙄
A24 isn't really a 'niche indie movie studio' anymore. Quick google puts them at about $2.5B valuation.
Snarky gettin snarky 😂😂😂❤❤❤
Movie trailers / advertising with their bait and switch needs to stop.
You're the best. 😂
I actually want to shake your hand. 😅
AI art is bad but the concept of the posters are fine. They did something similar for the 2004 movie, The Day After Tomorrow. That movie had posters with landmarks across the world frozen in an ice age, even though the movie was set in New York and none of these landmarks show up in the movie.
It’s called marketing movies have been this for years…
I have no Problem with those Posters! Great Promo! Well Done^^
4:33 Now THAT IS A GREAT MOVIE and POSTER°°
Yeah I told the movie actually doesn’t follow the path the trailers portray
Snarky for president! Or at least Attorney General
It is a shame, as A24 was a great film company.
*"UNTRUTH IN ADVERTISING"*
We definitely need to ban deceptive marketing.
Yeah, marketing is becoming more deceptive. Especially with WB and Disney and Sony.
I think you did exactly what the posters were attempting to accomplish.
None of the posters look good to me and that's why I watched Abigail.
I’m not sure where I stand on this. The movie is all about the media, and how it’s not trusted by the government/people anymore. A lot of the aftermath depicted in the movie is also a reality in the film. Snarky might be getting a little too heated on this one.
Snarky Jay, I got work to do, but you know I can't skip seeing that beautiful smile of yours. 😍😍😍
Is that cheesy? Am I doing too much? 🤣🤣🤣
Have a great day Jay.
I probably wouldn't have noticed the 3 door car if you didn't point it out, so good call out. I thought the Actor's strike was supposed to address AI usage in movies. I guess it didn't include marketing material?
Nope, it was about AI in writing.
First comment, Ms. Snarky Jay. And wow this is really insane regarding these scams. 😲
Yes they are!
Wow 😮 One of these Civil War posters are so FAKE! 😂 What a bunch of Scam AI artists! Your dogs are so cute by the way, Snarky 🐶❤
Haha, thanks very much.
I'm there for the movie not for the posters and their just posters of locations not actors.
I know you have to "sell the movie," but then there's flat-out lying 🤥 Hell yeah, call them out! Let's get this bread 💸💰
You say it like is,mamacita!
Watching this movie I was in disbelief of how much the trailer lied... I didn't even see the posters
Not only does the car have 3 doors, but it also appears to have two rear ends. The end closest to the right even has the large black number you see on a lot of 80s-00s cars. How lazy are these people??
Now I want to see Andy Dufresne escape from a flying plane ..... are you happy, lol. 😛
I’m still pissed about the false advertising for Halloween Ends 😡
Biggest L I’ve ever seen from one of my favorite movie studios
I agree with you that 'misleading advertising' is extremely annoying and deserves a organic boycott via word of mouth review, however what they did does not fall under the clause of 'false advertsising'. This is why a Deadpool movie poster could be a child's drawing of a unicorn f*cking Kevin Feige in the a**, but neither a unicorn nor Kevin Feige appear in the movie.
Using deleted scenes in the trailer too. Rogue One: "Jyn facing off against a Tie Fighter with only a single blaster at the top of the transmission tower" cool but not in the movie.
Jared Leto's Joker saying Joaquin Phoenix's "We live in a society." line for the Snyder Cut.
That legitimately irked me. Otherwise great movie.
To be honest they probably did it to save money and or laziness to hire someone to do a better job at making movies posters. It's stupid and idk why they thought it was a good idea.
Your dogs are adorable!!!!!
Also, you are more attractive than Megan Fox haha
