Paramore have been just on fire since their 2013 self-titled album. Their early stuff was good teen-angst stuff but they have become that now-rare form of great art-rock band that you just don't really see anymore. Plus, how could they not be stars with Hayley Williams fronting them? She is a supremely talented singer/performer, fantastic lyricist and, of course, is stunningly beautiful in a very natural way. I'm a metal guy really but these guys have impressed me increasingly over the past decade.
Thank you so much, Mr. Hawkins!! I cannot express how much joy this channel has brought me. I listen to music in a completely different way now. Best to you!!

I commented about it too, I’m a synth-pop guy myself (more of an Oberheim and Prophet 5 lover myself) just cool to know that Justin on top of all his talents and typical hard rock glam rock image, he’s geeky about synths. 😂 If he ever goes into solo stuff that isn’t the Darkness, just saying, if it’s synth-pop, fair to say I wouldn’t complain.
My dad had a DX7 the whole time I was growing up. He taught me the basic chords and one of the ways I learned how to play guitar was to stand behind him and watch him play the DX7 and play along.
Brian Langan is one of my best friends in the world and is an incredible creative force. This show has been such a ray of sunshine, Justin. Thanks for all of this! P.S. (In the Brian voice) "Oh that's gotta be a strat! Listen to that tone!"
Would be cool if you check out a power trio called The Warning. Villarreal sisters are the real deal, very talented powerhouse musicians all three of them, and they're just getting started on the level of their career where they find themselves now. They're currently touring on their second leg with Halestorm and will soon open for Guns 'N' Roses in their hometown of Monterrey in Mexico. They also opened for Foo Fighters in Mexico City earlier in the year, a mere 10 days before Taylor passed in fact, one of the last bands that opened for them before the tragedy struck. They even got to briefly interact with Taylor and Dave as the two were on their way to their set, Taylor told them they sounded amazing. More and more people are discovering them and they just keep blowing people away, especially in a live setting where they shine the brightest. Lzzy Hale gifted the lead vocalist/guitarist a custom made Gibson Explorer midset on stage, in a wonderful surprise gesture and expression of appreciation. That's how much they mean to Lzzy, she's been inspired since the day she discovered them, and a veteran band like Halestorm has nothing but praise every time they get asked about them in interviews. Their latest album ERROR produced with David Bendeth, dropped in June and it's their debut album as signed artists. Oldest is 22, youngest is 17, but they have nearly a decade of experience and history as a band and even more than that as musicians. Sky is the limit for this band and I think you'll absolutely love them, brilliant musicians, songwriters and performers.
Paramore are my favourite band of all time, each album has it's own unique sound but in my opinion, they *ALL* sound like Paramore. They've been a fantastic band from their first album and whilst their pinnacle in my opinion ius Brand New Eyes, they just continue to mature, evolve and improve every time they release an album. For some reason, one of my favorite is on their early song “fences” when she sings the word “style” at the end of the second “youll go out in style”
Totally diggin' it! The air of 70's funk, mmmm yes please!!! Hayley's got one hell of a voice, I love the overall joie de vivre of her je ne sais quoi... how she's always gone her own way stylistically with her look & music.
Was lucky enough to work with the "Fueled by Ramen" crew back in like 2007-2008 right around the time they did "RIOT". Some of the best Producers and Engineers ever. I really like how Paramore reinvents themselves. This is a cool track.
I'm never disappointed by Paramore. I didn't like this song as much as I liked their other songs but not in the sense of disappointment because I knew I'd grow to love it and I have, it's now one of my favourite ever Paramore songs
She gives amazing stage presence, and her voice is top notch!
Love Paramore's older stuff the best.
I love the dynamics of that song, made me feel quite excited. 😊
It really reminded me of Talking Heads, specifically Burning Down the House vibes
Thank you so much, Mr. Hawkins!! I cannot express how much joy this channel has brought me. I listen to music in a completely different way now. Best to you!!
One of my favourite bands ever and I really like This Is Why. It’s so catchy and different from what they’ve done before, but still feels like Paramore imo
Freaking love Paramore... they are so talented and continue to grow so much with each era!
Paramore are simply one of the best rock bands of this generation.
DX7 tattoo is so cool man.
Wouldn't expect the singer from the darkness to have that.
Most iconic synth sound from the 80s imo!
I commented about it too, I’m a synth-pop guy myself (more of an Oberheim and Prophet 5 lover myself) just cool to know that Justin on top of all his talents and typical hard rock glam rock image, he’s geeky about synths. 😂
If he ever goes into solo stuff that isn’t the Darkness, just saying, if it’s synth-pop, fair to say I wouldn’t complain.
The drawing of the lipstick ‘wider than my mouth’ is a lyric from ‘fake happy’ a song off their last album, thought it was very clever!
Try 'Evolve', 'Disciple', and 'Error' music videos to start!
I'm glad they really explore outside what people want their band to be.
Super excited for the full release of this album.
As an absolute Parawhore I was straight in as soon as I saw you'd looked at their new song! I was kind of relieved you liked it as they've had a lot of stick for how their sound has evolved. And you always spot interesting things in songs that I haven't noticed. Cheers.
I’ve seen Paramore many times they are so energetic and she is very cute thank you so much for reviewing them I just love them I love your opinion and what you have to say about them also
Love this song, love this video! Think a video on Paramore’s stage presence would be pretty cool to see
Their live act is one of the best there's it as far as bands go
"Let's see wot's wot?" My God, Justin transformed into Captain Sensible right before our eyes.
Just want to say: Yessssssss a new video!!
The compression on the drums, especially in the intro section, is hugely satisfying. Amazing track in general.
I'm obsessed with this new song. So refreshing but familiar at the same time. Excited for their new album
i’ve loved paramore for over a decade now. haileys voice and their sound is a perfect match. they’ve managed to reinvent themselves a few times too which isn’t always an easy thing today
Great funky vibes in this song.
On a geeky note, you add a sweet and light Prophet 5 synth patch to that funk, and it sounds a bit reminiscent of Gentlemen Take Polaroids by Japan.
That's one of the many things I love about this channel is that I learn about music that I'd never heard before. Really dig this song and video, and probably never would have heard of this band if it weren't for good ol' JH.
I love your UA-cam channel and music commentary! Been listening to your reviews for about a year before it hit me that your are the lead singer of The Darkness! What an amazing band. Love when musicians praise other musicians. Enjoyed this review a ton. Cheers!
So awesome, did not know you had a tattoo of the FM Synth I got at my home studio. Yay for the Yamaha DX-7!
Love the channel my friend ✌️💙 from Maysville Kentucky USA
Cheers!
Love this song. Also love that the videos directed by Brendan Yates of Turnstile!
Justin, your enthusiasm is infectious. Thank you.
I was shocked how good this was. It is so much more technical than there other stuff in cool a timing signiture.
Hooray for new Paramore! Definitely one of my absolute faves. I love all of their albums.
Great video! Big love to you Justin!
Thanks!
Love this. Thanks youtube for sending me this too. Best interview ever. Now I get what Justin & Dan are doing. Hoping he will do a 2nd show in Perth Astor ,COS I WANNA GO! Was it you guys or Josh who played The Cars "Just what I needed" for Taylor. That is awesome cover for you guys.
ua-cam.com/video/917eabyru5Q/v-deo.html
I requested and you delivered. Favourite channel at the moment, cheers Justin!
It’s awesome.. only listened to them tonight but can we show some love for that massed vocal chorus technique?
Killer…
You keep turning me on to bands I haven't heard of before! "Stabbery stuff..." Thank you!
5:54 My fav part of the video! Damien Rice rules!
saw them live years ago and was a great show. I like this new sound and she looks as pretty as ever.
A bit reminiscent of Gran Turismo era Cardigans. Love to see you critique a song off that album, Justin. Nice one!
Gran Turismo 🖤 excellent album. i rarely hear anyone mention it and i think the band got dropped from their label immediately after 😔
Oh yes that’s a good idea
@@laurenhoffmanmusic they got dropped after it? But it was so good! A really different turn for them. Hanging Around was a particularly good song IMO, with it's Polanski inspired video.
@@toughlifevirgina wait it came out in 1998?? ok, well one time i was on tour in france and was playing ‘in-store’ shows at record stores. at a FNAC or something they told me i could have some CDs for free. i asked about the cardigans because i loved gran turismo, and the guy was like, ‘aahh no, they don’t have anything new, sadly they were dropped by their label’.. and i don’t know whether that was the time i was there in 2000 or in 2006. and that’s the whole basis of my claim that they were dropped! so… what some french guy said, in a FNAC, in maybe 2000, or maybe 2006? 😄
well.
on wikipedia it says “they went on a long hiatus”, which is kind of vague, so maybe they didn’t get dropped, they just had some other shit going on? hard to tell. so chaotic in the music business.
Thanks for introducing this band to me, somehow never heard their music before!
Equal amouts of talent & beauty...a compelling rarity. Referring to Ms Williams, of course, although you are also very talented Mr Hawkins. Her bandmates are a tight unit as well. Carry on sir, we'll keep watching.
I needed a Justin Hawkins rides again intro in my morning. You bring the sunshine mister Hawkins!
I was sometimes noticing parts of the tat, thinking "is it a DX7 logo ?". Now I'm sure. Glad to see that there is another synthfan among the old school rockers like me ! Having a blast with the Dirtywave M8 these days !
Been waiting for an explanation on that DX-7 tattoo! I misread it as RX-7 initially and thought that you were just a Mazda RX-7 enthusiast :)
Good day to you too my friend
Nina Hagen has got a single coming out the 12th I believe it was. A cover of 16 tons. The little sneak sounded amazing I think, wouldn't mind hearing your thoughts when it releases!
I liked early Paramore, some fun riffs and good drums. And their new stuff is quite interesting. Big respect to them.
Listened to Jeff Wayne's War of the World's yesterday, that took me back, and properly set me up for this is why.
What a song! Thank You - never knew the band before....
So glad Paramore is back!… and so glad you offered up a review! Fun post!
lots of genuine LOLs in my JHRA viewing today - top entertainment Sir!
Hey Justin, love the channel would love see you do a video on The Snuts, great young band making a name for themselves and just have a new album out Burn the Empire
Been watching your vids for a while now, love the content and everything about the channel, great to actually see what sort of person you are , funny and a fantastic musician 👍👍
This is such a cool reaction channel. I never really understood the appeal, but I get now, seeing an expert musician analyze music is interesting.
Justin, thanks for your observations on the instrumentation in this one. I never would have guessed any of that. I've been watching your vids more & more frequently. You earned yourself a SUB with this one, mate! 😀
6:00 I was thinking faster than a cannonball from Champagne Supernova. I've never heard the song you were thinking of, but now I have someone new to listen to.
Enjoyed your performances at both Taylor Hawkins tribute shows!!!
Justin RLZ
paramore has been one of my favorites of all time for a while so I got so excited when I saw this!!
Just love how they evolve, great band.
floating like a cannonball is also a lyric in champange supernova
Hayley was on KROQ a few days ago and mentioned how awesome and surreal it was for her that Justin made this video.
Paramore is great live.
Champagne supernova , oasis also has " floating like a cannonball" lyric
YUP❗...its "slowly walking down the hall like a cannonball"...❤
I love Paramore ❤
Thanks for finally answering my DX-7 question! 😂
Just noticed your DX7 tattoo a few videos ago. Absolutely one of my favorite synths, I regret selling mine! Killer tattoo. :)
