Congrats Rhett! I hope it isn't as cloudy as over here, because the sun coming in and out can really mess up the shot 😪
Haha, cheers bud
Same weather in France! With a bonus, the rain. 😉
Dunno why (I sucks at guitar and at filming technique) but it was the first thing I thought when I saw those windows 😁
Your twos studios look very similar...
Thanks Paul! I need some automatic blinds like you’ve got.
You can ND gel your windows! Dm for explanation haha
woo congrats man!
Hi Adam!
hi Randy!
Thanks Adam!!
@@RanDum_Prod hi! Lol
Hi Adam mad question what’s your favourite chord

Thanks man!

@@RhettShull how wide is your monitor in inches? does the desk have any smell?
Congratulation! Your hard work paid off! Great job!!
Rhett: "Omg there's lens flare!"

You're thinking of JJ Abrahams, but other than that i agree
LOL! best comment ever
Anamorphic lens has to be the next purchase 😀
If John Woo was involved there would be doves taking flight...in the background
...in slow motion.
Where the hell are my explosions?
Major congrats on the new house! You've built something great here on UA-cam and I'm super proud to know you and to have watched you grow your channel from the early days when we were building your pedalboard in my garage! You're on your way to "Empire" status on UA-cam and are the high-water mark for us all in the music gear community! Much continued success in your new space! Here's to one-million subs 🍾 🥂
Thanks so much Mason!
Congratulations on your new home and studio. One thing that hasn’t been mentioned is that it is something special to have a wife that is not only your soulmate but someone who is supportive every step of the way. My wife and I have been married for 45 years and has been with me ever step of the way wether dealing with business deals, health issues, death in both our families and whatever else there will be to face. I’ve been playing guitar for about 20 years and have really enjoyed and learned a lot from your videos. Keep up the great work!
@greg schoenherr you and I are lucky. I’m also married to my best friend and soulmate, and she’s been behind me and my music 100% since day one. And I support her photography and all of her endeavors all the way as well. I realize that guys sometimes make mistakes and marry a woman they thought they knew, but I’ll never understand those guys who marry for any reason other than real compatibility. Money, power, social status, marrying the boss’ daughter, a trophy wife or because they “think it’s time they settled down” - those are the wrong reasons that end up in misery. Anyway, just had to comment. All the best.
@@russellszabadosaka5-pindin849 Well said man!
sweetwater employee here! so glad we could help you out, it’s an honor to work for a place like that. praying for you guys on this crazy transition, you deserve it more than ever !!
honestly seeing Rhett in a room with natural light is freaking me out
Loft: comfy chair, small coffee table, acoustic guitar, record player, oh and cool lights. Size and power capabilities permitting.
actually a great idea, can give a nce vibe for acoustic writing, maybe an electric and little 5 watt amp or something too!
Yes, I sit and stare when I'm setting things up. Always feel like I'm spacing out, but it is necessary to envision.
Totally, my gf always asks me if I’m okay, or just laughs at me lol
>lives in parent's house for three years to save up for a down payment
>also has like $50,000 worth of guitar gear
I respect a man who has his priorities straight.
I often wonder why "living with parent´s" is considered such a "shame" (with more intensity in some societies, like USA). What if it is a big ass house/mansion? Many people in my country also live in the same building (sold the house and got several apartments). Many people will regret not seeing their folks enough when they get to adult age.
Every married guitarist needs a loft in the studio. It's where you sleep on NGD, or when you come back from London with a $1000+ pedal.
NGD?
New Guitar Day.
Oh my goodness this hit me so hard, it's so true 😭
“No Plan B” really taking effect! Can’t wait to see the progress of the new space, Rhett. 🎸
He's great. Love his channel.
But, I would say, it can be easier to say "no plan b" if someone, like he seems to appear, got a chance to buy all of the gear he got. I mean, he must be great also at moneymaking. I admire him. But the guy seems to have a good escape plan.
Cool that your Dad is helping you out - reminds me of my Dad helping me (also an engineer). Kudos to all engineer Dads!
I feel like every dad is an engineer, even if without a degree
So happy for you Rhett. Watched every second because of the happy vibes and your obvious excitement. You got this man, just keep doing it.
Rhett is absolutely living his best life and it makes me so happy to see it! Congrats on the recent success and best of luck on all the future endeavors!
All this way you've come and Novo still hasn't given you a signature guitar
No point really. Every Novo made is a Signature guitar if you think about it
Wonder how many Novos he's sold so far . . . figure a sig will pay for that ES 339 Rhett always wanted
So excited for the future. Thanks for taking us along.
This is a great vid, different than what I was expecting. I have to drop a comment because you brought up Bob Vila and This Old House a couple times. I went to Berklee. I rented and eventually bought what had originally been Bob Vila's very first building he'd built to house the production of This Old House - and converted it into a music studio. Not a recording studio, but a space in which I taught guitar for years, practiced, had rehearsal, etc. Downstairs was a 32' x 28' open bay with one (big) garage door, more outlets than you could possibly want, with a 10' ceiling. This is where they built cabinets, etc. It was raw drywall, concrete and filled with sawdust floor when I first moved in. Took 3 days just to get the sawdust out. I painted it a great cool creative color (s), built a wall & door where the bay door was, put carpet on the wall to kill sound, etc. I can relate to all the work you've put in.
So in it's weird but very appropriate way vis a vis this vid of yours →Bob Vila's original This Old House became an actual music studio.
I left there a long time ago, but starting the process again - which is why I watched the vid. And somehow it all comes full circle. Congrats on the basement studio! (I've watched some of that)
If Peavey made a ceiling fan, I'd install it.
Eyyy maaan.
This wins the Internet for today.
You’re damn right.
"I'm good enough, I'm smart enough and, gosh darn it, people like me."
Congrats Rhett! Excited for you and for the future of the channel.
I love the longer form video, especially on this kind of stuff. (Renovation, thoughts, working through space issues, etc.) I’d definitely watch every minute of further build outs as you develop the recording studio.
Looking forward to what’s to come for you. Cheers, man!
So happy for you Rhett! Like guitar tone chasing, studio adjustments, improvements and enhancements constitute a whole other rabbit hole to go down, but so much fun and so much to learn. Cant wait to see how that basement blossoms into a proper rec studio. Look forward to seeing the progress!
I love how your pedals are stored in a typical FX chain order ... Distortion > Modulation > Delay > Reverb
rhett man, you’re the best. i swear you’re one of the best youtubers out there for me
you inspire me to get over my own insecurities about making videos and to just do it! thank you man! you make youtube, and the world a better place 🙏🙏
Rhett, I discovered your channel just in the last week or so, and just wanted to say how much I appreciate it. You are obviously an excellent musician, but what I love is you come across as sort of a very relatable everyman. You have a wonderful way of communicating. Congratulations on your studio, I'd say you have earned it and deserve it.
Congratulations to you and your wife Rhett! Nice cozy and spacey home!
And wishing you more success as you move further on in life!
Thank you for the inspiration and new ideas you've shared!
Awesome man! So stoked for you!
Thanks Brett!
I remember finding you when you guys first moved into the basement and talked about buying a house and I'm so proud to see you guys achieve your dream!
Congrats Rhett! So happy and excited for you!
Congratulations! Amazing to watch your journey over the past couple of years. You’ve inspired me a lot. Thankyou
Congrats on the new studio! The old one had a slightly depressing, dark atmosphere. The new one looks much more open and friendlier. I hope you're gonna have a lot of fun there. :)
Kinda funny, I was always jealous of how cool your studio is and never realised that it was a storage room. Really goes to show that you can always make it work for you if you really want!
Really happy for you! Keep making those dreams come true!
Love your new space Rhett! Congratulations!
Congratulations on the new house and good luck with building the new studio. I look forward to seeing the progress.
This Old House..... no.
“This New Studio”. Congrats man. It’s been so awesome joining you on this journey. Excited for more.
The basement is full of love.
Go back there from time to time.
Congratulations respect to you for chasing your dreams and to your parents for supporting your dreams. It takes a lot to do that man.
Looks Blazin' man! I always appreciate how transparent you are about your journey. Good for you Brother! 😎
Dude. This is awesome. The story about working in your parent’s basement was inspirational
I went from, "yeah bro! Guitars, gear, studio! Yeah!" To, "puppyyyyyyyyyyyyy....." In about .003 seconds... 😂
Exciting!! Congrats!! All the hard work is paying off!
Congrats Rhett!......you've been working really hard...you deserve it....keep it up....I really enjoy your videos and all the diverse content...
Congrats man. That’s a great space full of possibilities. I’ve worked in a bunch of studios and I’d say a smaller live room and a couple of iso rooms is the way to go. I’ll look forward to seeing how it evolves. 😉
Excellent video Rhett! I am so proud of you and Tilly. Can’t wait to see what the next chapter brings. No Plan B Dude! And the sign is still in the basement....just so you know.
Wow! So happy for you guys not only for the new space but for becoming home owners. It's a big step and I can see from your enthusiasm and humble attitude that you will make it into something "Amazing"!!! We have never met but my wife and I are from Atlanta (living in Wash. DC for the last 15 years). I am sure we know many people in common since I used to work in the film and television field there (1985-2005) and ran in music circles the rest of the time. I have been a devoted followed of this channel for a couple of years now and always find useful information and inspiration in your posts. Can't wait to see what is next for the channel and I am really looking forward to seeing the STUDIO build out. Would love to meet you face to face someday and swap ATL music stories. Good luck and keep pushing forward! Matthew Corrigan
Congratulations! It's such a cool awesome feeling to wake up and have it dawn on you, that you have created/realized a dream! Enjoy and savor those moments and apprecitate yourself for following this path!
On the loft: softa, maybe a chair, a small table and an acustic guitar. And to the studio: EPIC
I say microphones mounted up there to grab another perspective from the room
I’m a simple man. I see a half-hour Rhett Shull video, I get excited.
Great video Rhett. Best of luck with the build out of the new studio. Look forward to seeing the videos of it coming together.
Congrats man! I've watched your show for years now, and am so impressed by your growth both as a musician and a content creator. You deserve this man! Looking forward to some new stuff!
LOFT: Make a play pen out of it and stick the drummers up there.
Maybe a coloring table for the bass players.
I am so happy for you , Rhett !! Your new home looks like my dream home . As for helping you find a guy with the recording studio , there is a dude that goes by the name Rick Beato . I bet he could help you lol
I've heard of him, isn't Rhett his mentor or something? :)
Cannot wait for progress updates on ‘the Space’. Awesome job Bob V.!!
Excited for what’s upcoming.
Congratulations on the new house and the great new studio Rhett. I love your videos and I'm very happy for you!
Suggestion for your loft:
Put on old motorcycle on display and put flowers around it. That would look really cool I think!
I got the motorcycle. No change just get it up there.
Best idea! Cut the bike in half...
My prediction: new studio is moved down into recording studio/basement, current studio transformed into “the baby’s room.”
I can tell you that does happen.
@@mikecorey8370 it happened to me too. 😁
It would be a short list of musicians that hasn't happened to :)
Yep! I was thinking the same thing! Haha
Actually set up my studio in the baby's room. After he left home upon college graduation...
Congrats on the new home and studio, Rhett! You’ve earned it. I really enjoy your videos and I look forward to many more.
Congratulations Rhett! Richly deserved and a really nice space. Thanks too for walking us through the process & all your choices--great encouragement for those of us who still dream of making one of our own some day. Can't wait for the future episodes of "This Olde Home Studio." Though I gotta say, it tired me out just watching you set up the upstairs room!
Rhet: “oh my god, lens flare... ok, let’s role with it.”
J.J.Abrams: “That’s my boy!”
Yeah, except it's not in every 3rd shot Rhett does!
This is so fun. One rule for you to consider that I learned the hard way. My doctor actully advised me of this rule. NEVER EVER have drinks or liquids on the electronics desk, table, or anything. Have a beverage stand instead. I learned the hard way.
Nah probably ur just clumsy dude
Excited for you man! I respect that you did it yourself....always a rewarding process! Enjoy the new space.
Congrats!!! I'm in a similar position that you were in a before you bought this new house. You've been an inspiration!!!
Set up several mics up in the loft for when you record, you'll get a lovely selection of room reverb on tap for free.
Was thinking the same thing, probably would be cool w drums
@@gr1m805 certainly!
"Mon, dad, me and my wife are gonna move in for three years while I'll be earning my own house by making youtube videos". Yeah, sounds convincing. Congrats on actually pulling it off!
Why regular people asume that living with someone else (your folks for example) is such a burden/shame/failure? That´s bs. You know how the Rockefeller´s or any other hyper wealthy family back each other?
Congratulations, I know you got this. Definitely keep it coming. Congratulations again!!
Congratulations, you deserve this! Looking forward to things to come...
Re: the iso room in the basement - seems like 2 small/medium iso rooms could be a great option.
As much as the isolated booth would be cool, I say big ass live room would be cooler
Personally, I would say bust out those walls then put a smaller iso booth on the other side of the room in the corner (on the same wall as the bar and closet). That way you can have the control room look straight into the live room.
@@MattyPanda I like it!
This will be fun to follow. I love the music you (and others) provide me so go for it Rhett.
So happy for you and excited to watch the progression on the recording studio. Congrats Rhett!
Rhett, I thought your big reveal at the end was that you and Tilley were building a nursery. I guess a studio is an "ok" project too 😆
Congrats Rhett! That room is perfect. And you get the basement? What's left for Tilly? haha
Congratulations! Hard work paying off!
Congrats dude, been watching your channel for awhile, wicked to see the progression continue and continue! I'm sure the quick workflow is going to be a godsend for ideas now. Also your dad seems like a really cool guy!
Zach should be proud of you on fan duty--that’s what made me feel “homeowner” when I put four of them up. Surprisingly it was almost idiot proof (which is good for people like me, lol). Space looks great, congrats to you guys again on the house, you two deserve all the happiness, success and good health the world has to offer. All my love bro.
Thanks Albus!
So excited for you Rhett! I love your videos and appreciate your musicianship!
Congratulations brother! You well earned it man! Looking forward to your the studio build and the upcoming videos from the new house! Really happy for you man
My new cell phone was obliterated by FedEx around the same time. I wonder if they dropped your desk on my phone? 😂
"If you made it this far, thank you"
I'm still here fighting with a Bigsby
😂
I feel you, man. I ditched my Bigsby and put in a Frequensator tailpiece. Life is good now.
@@rkomada88 try the Duesenberg Bigsby stuff... unbelievably brilliant pieces
Congrats and the best of luck. I’m looking forward to seeing the “This Old Home Studio” and of course the rest of your videos. Thanks for all your previous videos. It’s always a positive learning experience. Two thumbs up!
Congratulations! This is awesome. Can't wait to watch and see this new space take shape.
Nice bikes! ; )
"you ever just sit and have a stare" - Rhett Shull
I’ll have to write that one down 😎
Stoked for you dude! Having your own space is magical
Been following the channel for about 3 months. Enjoy the content very much. I live in Portland, Indiana, about 45 miles south of Sweetwater Sound. I am a big fan and customer of Sweetwater. I put together my own home studio about 8 years ago with the help of the good folks @ Sweetwater.
8:24 Pink Floyd Echoes. Absolutely love the Meddle album!
Anybody please help: Can't remember the name of the song right after that
Edit: Nevermind, It's Green Is The Colour! But which version? It's not the album version
Anyway, great Taste Rhett. Also that Room looks fantastic, altough I'll miss the old one.
I was surprised at how well this acoustic treatment works!
I'm really looking forward to the Recording Studio Series.
I heard Planet Telex by Radiohead at one point
Green is the colour is from the more album right? I was unaware there were different versions
@@benjaminfowler4513 i'm quite sure its not the more version. The phrasing is really different
I'm sorry Rhett I just hear the echoey house acoustic in that vault space and then see the speakers on top the desk riser and omg a SUB under the desk and i think about standing waves at 40Hz or whatever the resonant /f/ will be in that room
The first thing I would have done is forget about the desk, just set the speakers up with some very familiar music and listen to what it sounds like in the room and find the best place to sit in the room where the bass from that SUB sounds the best, than mark that spot "X" and its where your listening position is (so where the desk goes is oriented to that point).
Or I'd just take the sub away and start with near fields only
putting a sub in that space without listening to what it will sound like with the desk against a wall is a recipe for bass frequency disasters for anything you mix in that space.
panels on walls only affect the mids and highs. low frequencies are room and position dependent
turn the sub OFF for a month I am begging you please
Congrats Rhett, enjoy your new workspace, I’m sure it’ll be utilised well and I look forward to seeing your new productions soon. Great setup and your future basement studio will be excellent.
All the best Steve
Thank you for starting making UA-cam videos! You helped bring music back to me, I'm sure I'm not the only one. Awesome that you made this happen! Can't wait to see the studio come to life.
Really couldn’t be happier for you. We just moved too, and we’re planning to turn half of our garage into a studio for me. It’s gotta be secondary to work and raising my kid, but I’m super excited to get my space going.
Congrats, man. We’ll deserved.
Looks great man!! Best of luck with the Studio build... can't wait to watch the process!!
Congrats Rhett and I hope you continue to enjoy success!
You deserve it!!! One of the hardest working musicians I've seen in a while. Congrats!!!!!!!!
Looking forward to watching your journey. Safe travels.
Congrats Rhett. I was your age when I bought my first house. Its a feeling you will always remember. Very happy for you and your family. God bless.
Congratulations, Rhett. Having recently completed my own home studio, I can relate what a difference having dedicated space makes in the creative process. Thanks so much for your content and commitment to excellence, I enjoy your channel very much. Best wishes.
Inspirational vid man! Amazing where the journey of life takes you. Super congrats on the new house and setup 🤘
I've been drooling over the UA 4-710 D for a few years now. Congrats on the new space/house!
