Appreciate the wonderful insight!..and tutorial...how would you remove the grid lines if you wanted to?..will it be under Inspector/Grid/width? make it thinner or non existent?..thank you..
Once you’re done with the setup, simply delete the grid effect/adjustment layer or hit Cmd+D (Mac) or Ctrl+D (Win) to disable the adjustment layer. This will disable/hide the grid layer. Hope this helps.
Thanks for your tutorial. but is there any way to create "procedural' and 'animatable' split screens? Something similar to those After Effects templates, where you insert your footage into "placeholders" and are able to animate borders of the screens, size, scale, etc...and even decide how many screens you want?
Hi Recfilm, that is possible in Fusion, it’s a little complex to do but definitely possible. I did make a simple version a while back for a client. If I make a video I’ll share it with you soon. Unfortunately I did not find an existing solution on UA-cam.
Hi @Recfilm, I haven't made a video yet, but I found an interesting effect for DR on Videohive that has simple customisable animations and work in horizontal and vertical format with any resolution. It is 34$ but take a look at it, I liked it. 1.envato.market/JrejNq
That's a better way to do it. I was really hoping there was a way with TransformFX so it could just be mostly automated but this is pretty quick! One thing - Shift + [ or ] will trim a clip. Instead of cutting and deleting it does it in one motion. And if trim mode is enabled it will automatically move the next clip back. I have it set up to the side buttons on my mouse and my editing is much faster now
Hi Chris, Thank you. Yes, trim to end is faster, I have E key setup for that too. However, I wasn’t sure if custom keyboard shortcuts was the way to go in this tutorial. But now that you mention it, maybe I should include all shortcuts that can be used. The mouse trick is awesome, I’ll try that. Thank you 😊
It depends, you will need to crop in to make them horizontal. Or use a 2 split instead of 3 and make those clips square. However if you filmed them vertical and they are good in full screen then, there is no need to split them 😊
I have a question Im hoping you can answer. When I lay my video clips out on the timeline they are displayed in 1080 x 1920 and not not 1920 x 1080 as yours are. Please advise. Thanks in advance
Sure, most probably you have them set to fill the frame on import. Just select the clip and within Inspector->scaling -> select FIT. That should do it.
Any idea what I am doing wrong? When I move a clip up or down it does not show, it's like it's masked. I am doing a 3 level Reel and only the center space is visible. When I move up or down, it goes behind a black bar. Cropping items are at 0. Please help.
This is still very very tedious if you want to change clips around or swap them out you need to crop each time. Photoshop solves this with placeholders I hope someone is able to create them for Resolve.
A simple solution would be to do it once and next time just duplicate timeline then copy paste the attributes (zoom and position) for the new clips. Shouldn’t take more than a few seconds.
@@DrRave I just did a default reset and was able to find the features you showed. I was able to make the video but need more practice. Working on adding it to Instagram right now. Thanks!

@@DrRave The mouse trick is the best! Probably the biggest workflow shortcut I've implemented yet in Resolve. Makes the cutting process much smoother.
Sounds like it. I have the MX3 Master mouse with the side buttons. I’m going to try this today. Thanks for this tip.
@@DrRave That's what I use - very easy to setup in Logi Options and have it only do so in Resolve automatically
Perfect 🙏
Best tutorial for this I've come across! Love that you show us shortcuts as well. Thank you!
Thank you Brian. Appreciate the feedback and comment.
I'd love to know what other topics you'd like me to cover with Davinci Resolve. Please let me know in the comments below
What i've to do if i filmed my clips already in vertical, i can't find a way

That’s strange. Can you share a screen capture or record the screen from your phone.
This is still very very tedious if you want to change clips around or swap them out you need to crop each time. Photoshop solves this with placeholders I hope someone is able to create them for Resolve.
