Hi I just ordered the Pochade Palette based on your recommendation. Questions About the plexiglass panel you are using ….is it a 9x12 or another size, like 8x10 ? What thickness of plexiglass are you using ? Thanks, Jesse
Hey Jesse, glad you found it helpful! The plexiglass I used is 10-1/2" x 8-1/2", just big enough to tape a 8x10 sheet of canvas to. I bought a larger piece and cut it down to that size. I then stuck the magnets on the back; works pretty good. It is pretty thin - 1/16". Only downside is the Plexiglas is kind of flimsy and a corner has already broke off. When I replace it I might get a thin pieces of sheet metal and use that; more rigid and still pretty lightweight. Let me know what you think of the PochadePalette when you get it!
Thanks for commenting! That was an initial concern I had as well, however after a year of moderate use it is in surprisingly good shape. Curious to see how it lasts over time. But yes I do love it! My favorite plein air tool

Good question. Yes, I have used it while holding it and it works better than expected. Initially I was worried that it would get very uncomfortable after a short period of time but it actually wasn't too bad. I think it is light enough that there isn't too much strain. You do have to be mindful of where you put your thumb so that it doesn't get into any paint. I was able to do an hour-long painting recently while standing and holding it without a problem. If sitting I think you could go longer. If I am going to be painting for much more than that I'll bring along my tripod and attach it. Great to have both options available; I like the hand-holding option for hiking and an ultra-light plein air setup. Hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions!
This man is my art teacher and he’s very good at his job👌

Thanks for the info. I let you know how it goes…..cheers
The slite on front for brushes looks like it would get worn out. IMO, I'd would eliminate it or make it optional...OTHERWISE, looks great!

What is that black colour on pochade pallete, where panel will be mounted?
It is just a black coating over the metal, not sure exactly what it is. Has a somewhat rubbery consistency.
Ok thanks
Have you used it just holding it? And if so what are your thoughts?

Can you telll me pochade box size
Sure, the PochadePalette is 6”x9” when folded down
It'd be a shame to have paint get on the nice leather.
😅 I admit I do feel bad getting it messy.... they are so nice! You get that nice genuine leather smell when you open the package; so good.
