I have just plugged in the VTOL adaptor that comes with car. It is now charging 12 volt battery at 13.7 volts!! So yes this is a good trick:)

Thanks the frunk looks neat, may get one of those.
I do carry a pocket sized Li booster battery just in case.
However, nearly a year on I havent had any battery problems, indeed I have had no maintenance issues with the Atto at all.
I give it a slow (AC) 100% charge each week, and occassionally (once per month) give it a fast charge from about 30% to 80%, just to exercise the system.
I have a similar unit to this and it was saying 100% SOH on a 8 year old battery, I just had to replace it last month with new as it failed on me.
Hi there, what struts did you use? One of mine the plastic broke at the bottom when closing on 2nd opening. 😭
Hi Andrew, I get them specially made for Atto3. What I do know is the clearance between strut and bonnet is small so you must install to the outer fender bolts otherwise your struts may hit the bonnet.

Hi Paul, I got mine from Aliexpress. It will work on 6volts to 20volts any chemistry.

yes it does!
Could be a silly question, but will the battery be fully charged by using the VTL adaptor even after being flat out/dead?
It is possible but the life of 12v battery and its capacity have been severely depleted.
12v Charging protocol
Car charges the 12v using the main traction battery ( at between 13.6v and 13.74v)………
1. while the car is being driven ( powered up)
2. For two hours commencing whenever the car is turned off.. ( with 1.61 this is happening virtually all the time… esp. now the dehumidifying is happening ie fan starts when you lock the car)
3. for two hours if the 12v battery voltage drops to 12v ( approx) sustained
4. If the VTL adapter is plugged into the car
5. Car is charged whenever the main battery is being charged (AC or DC) or even when the car is plugged in with a future charge ‘pending’
Points 1 , 2 , 3 & 4 stop if main battery charge level is below 15% ( reported I haven’t tested this)

Byd have its own apps right? You can restart the car remotely from the apps if you not using it for 2-3 days…

Hi David, if you want charge your 12v battery, instead taking out of car you can just plug in VTOL into the car. If car senses the adopter it will start a charge on the 12v battery.

In Thailand last software solved this issue , no battery drain .
It cut off standby on board charger in 2 hour. It make new issue for me , cannot use time reserved with smart ev charger after 2 hour parking.😅
BYD should give their engineers these cars to drive every day. Thankyou BYD for the new software, less bugs means a better car.

It's 12 months on the 12v lead acid battery bit disappointing.
