    To my fellow young men: Marriage is no shackle, because you choose your wife. The weight of expecting to marry is that you are driven to seek the *right* woman with all your might, because you know that you can have no one else in the end. In this sense, the "burden" of commitment is just what we need to understand the gravity/sanctity of the bond you share with your wife.

      Here's the problem, only the guy REALLY has to commit, he's the only one held accountable.
      The current marriage laws are satanic. It's no more Biblical than gay marriage.
      Imagine asking women to sign a prenup that says, he can leave her for any reason, cheat on her, get tired of her, bored with her, lose attraction to her and she gets nothing. He walks away with everything, including the kids, if he wants them and has zero responsibility to pay child support or alimony.
      Not one person in their right mind would support such a thing. Yet, the prenup men sign is actually worse, as she is allowed to leave for all of those frivolous reasons, and he doesn't just LOSE half if stuff, he has to pay 40% of his future income for her to take his kids and live with some other guy.
      Just marry the right woman? Good luck with that, as society has bred unbridled narcissism in women. They are now raised with the expectation that life should be tingles and fairytales until the day they die, and if a man can't provide that, then she NEEDS to find someone better. And since she's awarded cash and prizes, she has all the incentive in the world to leave.
      There are A LOT of guys who thought they married the right girl, only to lose everything by the one they love.
      But you're right, marriage isn't a shackle, it's a suicide pact.
      Fix the laws.

      Well said! As a young woman, it is so disheartening to me to see many conservative comments sections _filled_ with black-pilled men who are rejecting marriage entirely, because its current state is flawed, and it comes with heavy commitment. Please keep spreading this wisdom as far as you can.

      yes you chose a wife. But you have no control over what that person might do. - And even in good Christian marriages people cheat - Or 3 , 4 kids later the wife, and plus some yrs of resentment built-up against her husband, so she decides that sex isn't a priority as much anymore - basically killing all intimacy in the marriage.
      Now just roommate's that raise kids, pay bills together. - At the present you have the 800 lb gorilla in the room, sucking all the air out of it. ( sex in marriage is about 20% when its regular of a good marriage, but if not, its 80% of it) John Gottman proved that 69% of all marriage issues will never be resolved in life of a marriage. With that given the happiness of the marriage will determine its long term prognosis?

But I have noticed a lot of the single retired men are still full of lust and ruminate in dating all the women. They are alone and annoying to be around. As much as I agree with this message, monogamous marriage is a tough sell in today’s social climate, especially for men. Our culture is exceptionally gynocentric. As a married man myself, I can clearly see how modern social, political, and familial systems disproportionately favor women over men. Men have to “earn” women, to prove themselves worthy of them; women simply have to show up. And, when they do show up, many of them are old, overweight, and “used up” (for lack of a better term); a growing number of them already have children from other men. What exactly do men gain? Around 20% of marriages are “sexless,” and women have abandoned traditional feminine roles altogether. The most common reason for divorce is “no fault” (or irreconcilable differences), almost always filed by women, and men lose their homes, assets, and even children in divorces all the time. Marriage is a wonderful thing when you find the right spouse, but in today’s society, there’s simply too much risk and not enough reward.

    • @sitka49
      @sitka49 3 місяці тому +1

      Marriage can be a great thing or the worst - and it seems to come and go in most marriage - and honesty I think sexless marriages higher than that- John gottman in a interview talked with him and his wife doing research and therapy for more than 40 years - thought that in his opinion it was over 30%. And the biggest indicator for a man to file for divorce was a sexless marriage, close to the same percentages as sexless marriages.

      Good points. In the past women were expected to obey their husband. This was part of the female wedding vow. Also, divorce was almost impossible. Nowadays, divorce is very easy to get by and women don’t feel bad for being bossy. Not an attractive deal for a man.

      How do you do tradition roles and live semi comfortably when the 100k is the new. 50k a yr? - the middle class is getting squeezed more and more Most people don't realize this but economics and family cohesion are coexistent and the growing economy is where the standards of living go up jobs stable wages are increasing and inflation is low
      But now having stagnant wages, increased inflation and debt burdens. People are being stretched to the Limit they have to work longer and harder and sometimes they need to juggle multiple jobs just to keep up. It's a frustrating State of Affairs. People are struggling to make ends meet slowly at first only to be accelerated by the pandemic. Today it's a constant fight to stay in the disappearing middle class all across the world and an increasing number of people are taking up second jobs.
      Most young people are working but still can't afford rent or buy a home and it's getting too expensive to go out and then with that the time the money and energy for socializing isn't worth it.

    Thank you, Lila, for another well thought out and cogently argued presentation on how much our society has gone wayward with regards to our sexual mores. Its sad that videos like this have to be made, but it is absolutely necessary given how much of society has deviated from monogamous relationships. Our society's willingness to condone polyamory robs the world of the only institution that most consistently produce healthy, intelligent, well adjusted kids - monogamous marriage. Moreover, such permissive attitudes towards promiscuity has also reduced those who participate in polyamorous systems into objects of pleasure, robbing those individuals of their dignity.

      @alphacause 3 місяці тому +9

      Also remember the next verse: "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it." (Ephesians: 5:25). Many men like to selectively quote verse 22-24, and conveniently leave out verse 25. A husband's love must be so sacrificial so as to mirror the abnegation of Christ. Without including verse 25, it makes it appear as if the Biblical exhortation is one-sided, with the man having no obligations. That would be wrong. If a man is to be deserving of a wife's submission to his authority, he must act with the self-sacrificial love of Christ.

Both apply, and both are needful for a healthy marriage. I'm all for "happy wife, happy life," but scripturally speaking there is much to be said for "obedient wife, happy life" as well.

    Thank you for not only explaining the logical reasoning for monogamy, but also providing all the studies! I'm saving this for future reference. It's also _invaluable_ to me that you presented it without bringing the Bible into it. Now, I'm a fervent Bible-believing Christian... but if you bring that into a political or economical debate, you very often _completely_ lose the person you're arguing with. We need to first show that our stances are _reasonable,_ and _then_ be able to say "See how reasonable the parameters of the Bible are?"
    Also, "The best things are the WORST things _when they are abused"_ is the perfect comeback to all the feminists who say "Well if marriage is the only thing that keeps men from being violent school shooters, why would I want to marry them? They're awful!!"
    No, their _best traits_ can BECOME their worst traits IF they are abused. Their aggression is one of their best traits when it's healthy. So obviously, logically, it will be the worst when it is abused.
    It's no different for women. Take our feminine beauty and charm and sway over men. It is the most _beautiful_ thing when it is used correctly! And it completely _destroys_ lives -- and very often whole families and CHILDREN -- when it is abused. Same thing.

    i think social media/dating apps have taught us that women will happily share a higher value man than settle for someone their level, so I wouldn't be so quick to conclude that poligamy benefits men more; when there are 'no rules' men an women settle into this anyway, by their own choice, both male and female - it's just not good for society at all, so we created monogamy. these days monogamy increasingly seems to be chosen only by backpedalling, regretful women in their 30's.

      @@natescorner Is someone truly submissive when they have no choice but to submit? See what you want is mass governmental control and mental enslavement of women. If you actually knew your history, the majority of human history was terrible for women. Their role was meant solely to fulfil the man's desires, hence why there was so much polygamy. Most women don't want to compete with other women for one man, only a small few do or don't mind it because of the culture they were born into. Women had no rights to divorce, no rights over property or children, even in cases of abuse (I mean real abuse), what was a woman to do? Look at the middle east today. The picture of the patriarchal past. Men can beat their women bloody, and the woman can't get any protection even from the government. She has no support if she chooses to flee and escape the situation. She's all alone. What you describe is a man's paradise and a woman's hell.
      I'm not saying I'm advocating for radical feminism, which hates all men and cries about a patriarchy when our society isn't even patriarchal. But I can't stand those who think women should be reduced to a man's property - where she has no right to think, speak, believe what she will, as long as a man is over her.
      I am a submissive woman, btw. Stay at home mom, raising 3 children I've birthed back-to-back. Don't nag my husband and hardly argue for my way. But I will never believe what people like you say is right, because I actually had a choice in the matter. And recognize I still do.

    1. Multiple major Old Testament figures/patriarchs/kings had multiple wives. Not one was considered wicked or immoral on the basis of having multiple wives. (It was in fact considered an aspect of their virtue and obedience to God that they had multiple wives and dealt justly with them). There is a strict delineation drawn within the scriptures and Christian/Jewish religious doctrine between King David having a dozen-plus wives and him lusting after Bathsheba specifically, because she was an already married woman.
    This indicates that sexual fidelity is considered the proper moral principle rather than monogamy (marriage-divorce-and-remarriage or remarrying after becoming a widow(er) is just serial polygamy functionally), and chastity more than virginity/celibacy.
    Opposition to polygyny (the form of polygamy in which one man has two or more wives) is not Christian, Jewish, or Scriptural in origin. It's principally pagan Germanic in origin, because that is the culture in the West from which an objection to multiple wives came.
    2. Following the successful mapping of the human genome, biologists have found that on average, each human being has twice as many female ancestors than male ones.
    This may seem weird/impossible, until you consider the combination of two simple facts: that while a human female in only capable of being impregnated by a single male at a time, a single human male can impregnate multiple females in rapid succession/concurrently, so that successful long-term human survival can operate on sex-imbalanced reproduction where there are fewer males than females, and that historically (and even into the modern era), men had a higher mortality rate before reproducing (principally due to war but also due to accident and harm while working out of the home).
    When combined with the female tendency for hypergamy (a natural inclination of human females to favor pair-bonding/marrying up with males of higher social/economic status/condition than them, which seems instinctually based and derived from the fact that mammalian reproduction places high time, energy, and resource costs on the female, thus incentivizing seeking a mate who can demonstrate access to large quantities of resources, often coupled with a wiliness to share that mate with other females of similar/lower social class), it isn't that surprising that on average, a noticeable plurality of human ancestry is composed of one male having two or more female partners. It is notable enough that over 16 million men alive in Eurasia are descendants of Genghis Khan (who had over 300 wives/concubines), meaning that about one in every two-hundred men alive on the planet are related to him.

      @cheerfulturtlegirl 3 місяці тому

      Sir, the gender ratio tends to be 1:1 unless people are murdering their female babies or sending men to war. Your gluttony for multiple women is not godly or righteous. God gave Adam one wife despite the fact they could have reproduced faster if Adam had multiple women. It is very hard for one man to be a husband to multiple women let alone a father to large numbers of children. The amount of chaos that Jacob and David suffered in their family lives should be some evidence to you that polygamy causes competition and animosity between multiple wives and half siblings. Polygamy may have been a better option to women resulting to prostitution or starving to death, but it is not the ideal situation. Jesus doesn't have multiple brides. He has one bride, the Church. Polygamous men miss out on knowing what it is like to be deeply loved by one woman. They seek after quantity over quality.
      You can look for technicalities in the Bible and make excuses for your fleshly desires, but you will miss out on God's greatest blessings. Maybe you feel no guilt about the idea that you would be taking the opportunity for another man to have one wife whom he can build a happy and fulfilled life with. You may feel no guilt for causing other men misery. Polygamy is gluttony. You cannot have multiple women without stabbing other men in the back. Remember that.

The women and the men are happier in monogamy but the lusts of these people make them keep pushing polygamy as a "legal" way to satisfy themselves. It's pretty sick.

    Most Prophets of God had multiple wives. If monogamy was ideal, Prophets of God, who were guided by God on every decision, would have married once.

    I'd look at whether men who commit violent acts have a functional family with a mother and father before I'd say it's because they can't find a wife. I bet ones that have the first, but not the second are not violent. "Dangerous incel," is basically used as a slur to shut up men who disagree with progressive sexual values like you are doing. The perceived "danger" is that they're speaking against modern sexual values, and for traditional ones.

    I grew up in a Christian family and went to Christian church and Christian School. In many instances, I, and others, were condemned for wanting to get married and commanded us to hate each other. Yes, they were married with kids, but they made it clear that we were not allowed to even be in a friendship with the other gender.

    Make a video about:
    How you plan to put everyone involved in abortion in prison for life.
    How you plan on criminalizing masturbation and the punishment for engaging in that act.
    How you plan on criminalizing sex outside of marriage and the punishment for engaging in that act.
    How you plan on criminalizing contraception and the punishment for using it.
    How you currently say there is forgiveness and healing for women who have had abortions but how they are going to go to prison for life once you get your abortion ban laws enacted.... But I guess that goes with the first one.
    Think about the (Unintended?) consequences of what you are trying to do.....

    Summary of obstacle 6 to monogamy: Go touch some grass

  • @zacharyanderson8613

    I love everything that was said in this video and what I would add is that another crucial element to creating more monogamy would be more male masculinity. Most men in churches will talk all day about the Bible but they’re fat. They can discuss theology but couldn’t handle themselves in a fist fight. Without question women hate hookup culture, however, they will tolerate being an option to a man that is a physical stud over being the one and only to a coward. This needs to be emphasized. THANKYOU for helping me change my mind on monogamy.

    The underlying narrative coming from Lila and similar voices (Louise Perry, for example) is solid except for one glaring contradiction: women allegedly want monogamy, yet only swipe right on the top 10% of most attractive men on Bumble. This doesn’t compute. If women want commitment and LTR’s so badly, why are they only chasing the Tiger Woods and Ryan Goslings of the world and ignoring the bottom 80% of men? "I want a stable, committed boyfriend, but am only willing to talk to men who already have 5 girlfriends."

      The issue is the place or site. Some places attract the type of woman you described. It’s like saying, “All the women I meet at the club or bar are not interested in marriage”. Good men and women hang out in decent places.
