finally they added my most requested feature! the ability to place 100 couches in my ship to create one large bouncy castle 🤠
so I always took in what my suite did....but then again....I actually did turn this stuff on when I went to play it cause I AM that player that likes the survival mods for Skirym :)
Good video, JV. After watching you run through the latest update, I figured out one reason why Starfield didn't hit like a lot of people (including Bethesda) were hoping? Putting aside subjective artistic decisions like writing, etc... Games are always limited by the technology of their time. SF feels like a throwback - In a bad way - To games from the mid-2000s, and this just isn't good enough, any more. We had to suspend our disbelief aka Pretend, in order to have fun with earlier games. But since technology has evolved, so have people's expectations. Pretending we're playing in a vast, open world galaxy doesn't cut it in 2024. We want to be able to traverse a true, open world galaxy free of limitations... Something you can do in No Man's Sky, compared to SF. And the limitations are because of the Creation Engine. Full stop. Bethesda needs to step into the modern area, so we can suspend our disbelief to enjoy the artistic choices made and not because of outdated technical limitations that are forcing us to "pretend" to make up for lack of real game play improvements and features.
I actually love that we can decorate the interiors now, I hope they add more onto it. But I already know mods will go crazy with the new official implementations of features
@@PLAYER_42069 The only true space games are no mans sky and star citizen, I dont even know how bethesda messed up starfield that much at launch
Okay guy, have fun rotating sandwiches and couches.
They gotta fix that thing where NPCs look over at you with their head at 90 degrees to their shoulder
Yeah it’s so weird
@@mzple Looks mad painful TBH. I looked at that then did it myself and it hurts.
I don’t mind it, doesn’t effect the gameplay at all
@@Lonestar1017it affects the immersion and the believability. It's too gamey as with all other Bethesda games.
@@orbit1894 I mean it is a “video game” and that’s what I want. I think people complain too much about glitches like you want the perfect game. I mean look at a game like skate 3, it literally got a 2nd wind because of how much glitches opened up the game, or even speed-running as a whole
Honestly, I'd love to see Starfield have a No Man's Sky level of resurgence and updates. Because No Man's Sky now versus the launch version, it's like playing a completely different game.
It won't
Telling you now it won't, it'll be better in a years time or whatever but it will never get a NMS level of redemption
Depends on how the mod scene takes to it and how long till elder scrolls 6. IF the modders take to it then i think it could, as long as elder scrolls 6 takes forever to come out cause as soon as it does everyone is going to play that instead.
I also think if they added some sort of co-op it would help a lot.
@@Tangomango1720 A lot of the general modders for other series already said no...So unlikely to see anything like that.
Check back in maybe 5 years
I am glad they are continuing to support the game after the backlash, we don't really get many open world Sci-fi RPGs.
RPG is a bit of a strech but I agree
Open world is a stretch as well lol. Something like no man's sky would be a proper open world scifi

This would've been nice 6 months ago when i actually played this game. I guess its my fault for expecting a finished game at launch.
The game *was* pretty playable at launch, it was far from a Cyberpunk or No Man's Sky kind of situation. All games are better played after launch with patches and discounts anyway.
@@OneLastScholar when I say unfinished I don't just mean bugs and performance issues, it feels like the majority of the game had to be cut or simplified.
But the game its trash bro ajjaajjaja like its boring his point its now those updates wont make him play the game @OneLastScholar
@@LuckyJay817 it’s not that bad
People love to hate on Bethesda man 🤦♂️🤦♂️, years from now we’ll see retrospective video essays about “how everybody overlooked starfield” or “Bethesdas underrated masterpiece” I can already see it 😭😭
You have to go to the points of interest marked from space to see the real content. If you land and make your own marker, the game will generate random things around you instead of landing at a already generated area and then exploring from that point.
Something I do like about Starfield is that the tiles with biomes do actually exist relative to each other so if you land right in between two biomes it will be a hybrid with two biomes when you land. Also the way creatures have different colors in different biomes, and all the coastal variants. I think it's an underrated part of the game
“Last week”
He was referring to the update release, not the game.
(I know you were joking, just a heads up for those who are confused)
thank you for clarifying 😅 while editing i re-listened to myself saying that line so many times and figured people could figure out what i meant. but yeah i chose an odd way of phrasing that lol

Me too! Just not Starfield. Lol. It's not fun.
Saw that clip of starfield with star wars mods and omg we need an open world bounty hunter game that isnt that thing ubisoft is working on
As much as I have fond memories of playing this game they’re unfortunately over shadowed by the memory of my game crashing constantly while playing on a series S which I thought the load screens were supposed to alleviate. I can tolerate constant load screens if there won’t be crashes, and I can tolerate crashes if there won’t be constant load screens but I can’t tolerate both.
Honestly the in game maps really highlight how outdated Bethesdas game design is. Your telling me that the two biggest settlement of the human race are barely bigger than Diamond City, New Vegas, it makes it look tiny. Hell the entire city of Akila is literally the same size as the Two Landing pads connected to the city.
Aquila and jemison are Both larger😂...have you even played?💀
Zero chance they played Starfield, they are trolling off videos for some reason. New Atlantis is big enough to fit Diamond City 7 or 8 times.
@@OneLastScholar It looks small because it’s surrounded by literal wilderness.
While diamond city blends into the destroyed Boston area. That’s the problem. I wouldn’t mind if the outskirts just had useless ai generated buildings or something.
if you knew the lore you would understand why it is the way it is, but go ahead and judge without playing it like everyone else
Also the fact that they have endless flowing water from a lake that's not connected to any ocean. They're just so lazy with their design.
Still yet to check this one out lol but I'm definitely more interested now. I think Starfield was a tad overhated, but being locked at 30fps was a shame I hope that's fixed.
It is with this update - at least for Series X you get a few options now. 30fps, 40fps or 60fps - even uncapped. Then also an option for graphics or performance. Some of these settings are better for VRR screens but must say 60 makes the game so much more fun to play, especially those fights which felt great but too slow in 30. Game is improving for sure - they just need to keep at it!
TLDR, wait for sale
If you’re really interested, I’d wait for a sale. Like at least half off. Money wasn’t an issue then or now and I still feel like I got cheated spending $70 on this game. Played over 100 hours (hardly any of that in base or ship building). The story never really took off and I couldn’t help feeling like I got pranked after finishing the game. The load screens on my 4th gen SSD are still obnoxious. The ship combat is disappointingly mundane. The characters are hard to like. The procedurally generated planets are all but empty, with POIs being repetitive as hell.
Despite all that, the gunplay is pretty good, the graphics are also great on a solid PC (not sure with console), and there are a lot of quests to keep you busy. Is it worth $70? Hell no. Nowhere near that in my opinion.
@@Noner1234 agree. Dont buy the game. Gamepass is the way to go. Unless it captures you a lot then - then buy. Game is getting better for sure so maybe after a few more updates and additions it gets way better. Vehicle update that is coming will make a massive difference for traversal! So if they keep going like with no mans sky this game can only get better and do note, mods is also on its way......
i havent played the update yet. ill probably try it once they bring the land vehicle. i really enjoyed this game i cant wait until shattered space comes out
They added a map so you can see how small the cities are
LOL FR
They are like malls. It worked in Fallout and the Elder Scrolls games because of the setting. But to have a the same template in a Sci-fi setting is weird.
Bruh it’s a rpg with space exploration not a city explorer 💀
@@TheParagonIsDead and it has virtually zero space exploration, so what's your point here? lol
@@augustusguap228 ok so you never played.
Conversation over lol.
I really wanted to like this game when first playing it. Just can't excuse all the flaws. A game world set across space has never felt so small and limiting. Unbelievable that they only put in 3 "cities" and they are all so tiny. So disappointing.
Go ahead and get into UC missions. Thank me later.
@@thehappycookiehour Did it all. Underwhelming.
@@thehappycookiehour The UC missions are a prime example of bethesda's outdated game design. The mission where terramorphs attack is diabolically bad, so much so its comical. It could of been a Star Ship Trooper esc defence, a huge city wide war / attack, the possibilities were quite literally endless, instead you get 2 aliens, that pose almost no threat outside of potentially running out of ammo due to their tankiness, no atmosphere, no AI fighting back. The same can be said with the missions in the abandoned snowy planet. It is a terrible questline.
How about a "Universe" without ground vehicles! It is incredible! I've seen mods for 20 years old games doing more complete open world games. What these "devs" did with all the money of the budget can only be called a "steal" from the investors
Bro is expecting novigrad size of cities in a universe where only a couple million humans out of billions managed to get out of Earth before the planet died.

I think they are doing a good job with these updates I just want to wait for the game to get to a good point which is probably when the land vehicles come in for me to live out my endgame role play of being an explorer/bounty hunter. So it’s almost there for me to come back but not yet
those maps are pretty neat and the granular difficulty settings is something I haven't really seen in other games
Thank you for showing me the dialog camera setting...yeah, completely missed that.
Love this new update! Started new play-through on May 15th, level 34 rn. Can't wait for the, in their words, "Massive" story expansion! Already loved the game since early access, can't wait to see my favorite bethesda game improve!
I'll never understand why they chose to ship the game with the zoom in dialogue camera. Felt like I was suddenly transported back to 2007 every time I'd talk to someone.
I think they thought that people *wanted* to be transported back to 2007. I actually thought I wanted that too. Turns out I didn’t.
I love the zoom in dialogue camera
@@4badlisting650 thank god I thought I was the only one lol
Considering they had the adoring fan as a companion and made it a big deal with marketing, I think a design philosophy for this game was they wanted to go back to the older style of games a bit more. By that I mean they removed the voiced protagonist, brought back the oblivion camera, adoring fan very obvious fan service companion (still amazing though), and reintroduced more dialogue options/weird persuasion minigame
In the design of Starfield it returns to more of their older loved titles, and I think that this also feels a bit rusty to people in 2024
Because when it zooms in, it loads in a very high quality model of the NPC. I think Bethesda really wanted to show that off. Like if I’m talking to Sarah Morgan with the dialogue camera, her face and the lighting looks really high quality. But if I’m just standing next to her during normal open gameplay, her character model looks much lower quality.
I'll come back when planets have more places to go. The game got terrible for me once I started seeing the same damn structures when looking for better weapons. Sometimes it felt like I'd clean the same place multiple times within a few hours. That ruined the immersion and it was never the same.
temples ruined it for me.
copy pasted temples with exact same "puzzle", if you can even call it puzzle.
they should've made them much better or not at all.
@@spatrk6634 great point. I never even bothered to go after more powers after the first few because of how boring and repetitive it was + even when playing in the hardest difficulty, the game was already too easy for powers (and I usually play games at normal difficulty). The concept (with the puzzles, all the NewGame+ mechanics etc that I learned about after searching for it, since I knew I wouldn't beat the game) also felt pretentious imo. It's like they *really* wanted this game to be considered an "artsy masterpiece" when they made the main quest around this mystery and how they made it, with that stupid puzzle screaming to be considered "wonderful" and to make the player feel "special" like Jedis.
If they accept this game is doomed, I would hope they change the following for a sequel (I don't think updates nor mods will "fix" this game):
0- This is a must: a good engine that makes dialogues, combat, graphics, AI etc feel modern and not like 2000s titles. Also, I believe a brand new engine could lead to less loadings and crashes (this is the only game I've ever played that could crash on console because of save files, it's crazy. You could either stop saving and risk losing XP/items or save constantly to make sure a crash won't waste your time).
1- more handmade places. I get that we can't expect all planets to have it, after all, it would take decades to make that many planets feel unique, but they either make it 100% empty, without those generic places within every area you travel to, or at least add way, way, way, way more variety. It's so immersion breaking when you find these labs in ALL the places you visit.
2- planets with the size of actual planets. No Man's Sky did it, why can't they? Don't limit us to a small area at a time again. I would rather have a solar system full of real planets than hundreds of empty ones that rely on small areas. "Oh but most of them would be empty" ok, and? With vehicles (land ones but also our spaceship), that is not an issue.
3- bigger cities (and more in general). New Atlantis is a JOKE, I feel like they didn't add maps in day one because they KNEW it would instantly ruin the immersion due to its small scale. It's so funny how the main planet is absolutely massive and perfect for life and we barely have a city, let alone more cities. Really, just make at least 2 planets have a dense population and it's already great, or at least make some headcanon to explain why we don't see more cities across the planets.
4- add intelligent alien life. You're trying to tell me pretty much every planet out there can have advanced alien life, but none of them has intelligent life? Really? Idk, maybe in a sequel they could add some "Dark Forest" theory to the game to explain the lack of more densely populated planets and intelligent life hiding from humans, but making the game all about humans and that boring mystery again would be terrible.
Anyway, Starfield and No Man's Sky are really impressive, but I feel like they were too early to the party and only managed to make us realize the potential of the genre. In a few decades I believe we might have the kind of "space sim" game we expected from these two.
When you spoke to Nyssa at the bar she gives you an easy quest with a decent reward for early game. I always do hers first
I started my third play through and increased the difficulty and I love the game even more
I wish there was more options, customization, and "enchanting" available for clothes, spacesuits, and weapons. A lot of spacesuits and weapons are missing tiers too, including there not be any weapons in the "superior" tier.
The thing about fuel is that you could go broke on a plant and won't be able to progress the story (why would you?) Or even leave a planet you'll just be soft locked
Would you look at that, someone is having fun in Starfield. Love to see it.
I'm probably in the minority but I have the most fun while just finding all the different aliens on different planets like there's a lot of weird unique designs. Don't get me wrong, I like the quests and gameplay as well especially low gravity, but I love the aliens. I've been a huge fan of Spore and No Man's Sky for years so always loved seeing the different designs
I'm glad this game has 60fps on Xbox now as I would get it now (couldn't before as I cant play on 30fps) but ill still wait a few months as I'm building a pc then(rtx 4070 super + 7800X3D with a 1440p 165hz monitor) so that'll smash my series x out the water anyway
I bought this while I was on deployment. I bought it in Greece. We all enjoyed it and put soooo many hours in the game. So beautiful and lighting was amazing. These updates are very good quality of life
About fuel: A reactor creates fuel energy. So, you could use more energy than you can create, but it will always create energy. The speed at which it creates energy, depends on the amount of energy you dedicate to the reactor. - Which is done by decreasing energy to other systems, also powered by the reactor.
Your Grav drive is a computer that plots how far you can jump; the better the processing power, the further you can jump. - it doesn't actually need fuel.
All it does is calculate the amount of time it would need to maintain a gravitational field, dense enough to bring two points together in spacetime. It's similar to space folding. I'm not gonna go into the nitty-gritty of it, but obviously, if you miscalculated the duration which you maintain a field, thats getting denser, and denser, bad things will happen.
Helium tanks fuel the thruster systems, ones that burn actual fuel.
So basically, the auto-jump game mechanic takes all factors into a jump. Including fuel needed to traverse from one jump point to the next, in any system (if applicable).
Some jumps go a long distance in one go. Others, you are jumping through multiple systems. - This is because they modelled the steller-mechanics of all objects in the game. One assumes some areas have a higher concentration of competing gravimetry than others. - but if you had to personally calculate waypoints, to ideal jump positions between systems yourself. I doubt most people would find that fun.
So all that whine about loading screens, and travelling seems unaware of the alternative. - and it looks like BGS were planning on instituting the above in some way, anyway, then dropped it (thankfully). Theres no need to move around aimlessly in outter space, in this game; and you're not likely to burn through 400t of He-3 when you're already at your destination.
Is it me or is it when you start the game it only shows the no signal HDMI? How can I fix this?
Whats that blue bar below the health bar? Im like lvl 25 and idk whats that
It's related to abilities from the artifacts, it's the cool down/amount you can use
Sneak attack damage is CRAZY HIGH
There literally is fuel management tho I was always running out 😂
Atlantis city is a very simple map to me. The one where I always get lost is Akila city.
Hey now! Just wanted to say thanks for the review!
its nice that they are at least trying to fix the game. maybe in like 2-3 years it could actually make a comeback,
but for now i just cant play it after playing it for 30-40 hrs i think its just too repetitive to catch my attention
also, looking back i think this game got bashed way too hard by fans. i mean yes it was the most mediocre game ever but most of us played like at least 40 hours of it so i dont think it was that big of a waste of money as people say
I really hope they keep it up. I’m not expecting them to cyberpunk it but they can absolutely make this game better.
Do u think starfield will comeback with good updated? I'm thinking of playing now my expectations are pretty low

the foundation of the game is so bad that they cant make it better with updates.

Im sure they are going to add fuel and economy features, as several modders were able to add them back in because they were already in the game, just incomplete, so they didnt ship with those features. It's not like the previous games where leftover cut content would never show up, because they are being way more active in adding free features than their previous titles.
All of this just works 😀

So fuel consumption is a thing in the game…kinda. It’s effectively your travel distance ability. The more fuel you have on your ship, the farther away you can travel at one time. If you equip a very low fuel ship you’ll see that it doesn’t let you fly out to that many planets but your fuel refreshes at each place you stop so you have to leap frog your trip.

Can't help but feel you sound a lot like Falcon from Gameranx.
Nice to see that a billion dollar company added in features that should have been there from launch
The game didn’t come out last week why did he say that💀💀
They just need to allow mods on console so we can let modders do what bethesda wont give us.
I think they should work on cutting out the cutscenes for takeoff and landing. It freaking sucks!
Game changing update honestly.
I had over 200 or 300 mods that did a lot of this, only much much better. Only thing modding didnt do was add a map, and I really didnt need a map to see everythings empty.
The mods for difficulty were much better cause they effected the actual AI, so enemies would react faster, fire more accurately, use cover and grenades more often, and stay on you much longer and chase and follow from a longer distance, as well as eliminate the bullet sponginess.
Its amazing that they took over half a year to implement some mods.
Bethesda just doesnt care, and niether do I. Unless they go in and change the way the proc. gen. works and adds in hundreds of new unique POIs and weapons and armour, there is nothing in this game of interest. The side quests are all mind numbingly bland.
Can't wait to play this game in 2 years when it is awesome. Not kidding.
only way i see this game being awesome is if modders make total conversion mod. like some of the mods for skyrim, that make it like you are playing entirely different game, with differnet map and mechanics etc...
@@spatrk6634 you don't any high hopes for Shattered space?
@@gogadev dont know what that is
@@spatrk6634 The DLC?
@@gogadev oh, i didnt even heard about it.
thats how much im into starfield.
i dont see how story expansion will make already bad story good.
they need to remake entire foundation of the game.
not add more story.
