@@theetravisb Us old guys have an edge, we worked on these when they were new, or nearly new, and for years following, Yeah, I'm THAT old, I'll turn 70 this summer, God willing.😁👍🇺🇸😎
Awesome Job! All it needs now is a good exhaust and some body work with some of the electrical gremlins sorted and she'll be back on the road. Don't stop this format, its very good.
My friend, count it a Blessing you have your Dad around to help you work on these projects. it warms my heart to see this. i come from a broken home, and i miss not being able to do what you and your Dad are doing. keep on keeping on. God Bless you Both
those caps really set the wheels & tires off! so good to see the old El Camino drive around. i would pop out a few of the bigger dents and patch up the floors. fantastic project. this one is worthy of getting built up to a road ready, reliable shop truck/parts chaser.
How could you not like seeing that ol girl back on the road? Thanks for sharing, and for all the folks that watch this and don't understand, you never will.
Hay I’m 70 learn new stuff every day. But good looking up from the subscribers. It’s a cool old truck my brother had a 60 lots of memories. Thanks again from. Sc.
I love this. Your dad keeps it old school and simple. Too many people make this stuff too complicated on themselves in this day and age and ridicule those that use the older techniques.
And this is the reason why i love these old cars they didn't just make em simple to work on but they are gorgeous. no matter how much rust is on it or what is missing off of it. they will just find why to bring it back to life My dream classic is a 48 buick roadmaster
Very exciting To put a junkyard vehicle back on the road El Camino is looking great I'm excited to see more videos working on the body a little And interior
HI TRAVIS AND RICK WOW!!! YOU LEARN SOME THING EVERY DAY!!!! I AGREE DAD IS GREAT,,, HE KNOWS HIS GREATNESS AND TRAVIS MY SON MAX AND I LEARNED ALOT ON THIS EL CAMINO,, WITH YOU,,.. WE ARE SO GLAD TO BE PART OF YOUR BUILD ,, MAX SAYS HI BOO BOO,,..WE WANT TO HEAR IT RUN AND DRIVE.. YA!!! IT LOOKS GREAT ,,ROLLING ON DOWN THAT ROAD!!!>>>>>> GLAD TO SEE DAD TAKEN THE FIRST DRIVE TO REMEMBER ... BRING US THE REST OF THE BUILD,,.. MAX WANTS TO SEE THE OTHER CAR'S AND TRUCK'S FOR A SHORT,,,UNDER YOUR NEW ROOF BUILD ,,HE LIKES THE NEWPORT.. THANK''S PEACE...
Yeah dads got alot of experience under his belt thank you and your son max for watching I will talk more about the cats under my car port in the future
My old man was an El Camino lifer. He had one of these, same color, 283 two barrel, three on the tree. Made Saginaw street in Holly to Independence Square apartments in 11 minutes consistently, bending Andersonville road like it was Nürburgring. I thought I was Stirling Moss. Ah, 1966, eh? Thanks guys!
I was working on a ‘61 Belair with the 235 six banger. The car had been in the desert for forty years. Somebody had put in 8 cylinder motor mounts, so the motor oil pan sat flat on the frame and steering linkage. Don’t lose those 6 banger motor mounts. I payed a pretty penny for a set. Thanks for the vids. I always look forward to them.
Definitely appreciate your honesty, yet, the years dad has makes working together a blast to watch. Thanks for picking this beauty out of the scrap department. Definitely a great project vehicle that is a blast to drive as well as fun to work on as you get to enjoy what these old classics were for many of us who grew up in the sixties and early seventies.
Mr. B. Here ! Am a Olds guy but I will give credit to the Chevy guys who for the most part know there Chevy’s ! Also am GM train in Oldsmobile not Chevy, but with that said there are something’s that are different. Good job on what you done to date !
This build has been terrific. Now on to tackling the "Flintstones floor delete option" and other interior issues. That motor mount issue is puzzling. Perhaps some owner only had a six after the original engine blew and put it in and then removed it before dumping it. Hope all your viewers, including me, get the word out on the need for the 1946 IHC drivers' side door. It's out there-------someplace.
I love how it looks with the roof painted and i think it would look better with the original patina on the hood but its something we just have to live with i guess, awesome build good job, now its time for the interior!
Real enjoyable video. I like the fact that you have an open attitude towards the technical comments and suggestions made by your viewers. You take the time to explain the whys and why nots of what you are doing. When I look forward to the next video, I know that I have subscribed to a good channel, and yours is good!
Amazing resurrection guys, really outstanding job! When I found that car.. I thought for sure it was left for dead. I hope this video inspires folks to work on their projects and gets them to re-think dead.
Just found your channel this weekend. Enjoy content. You are fortunate to be able to work with your dad, who has so much knowledge. Don't change a thing.
I put a 231 v6 in a 76 Pontiac Astra cut the drive shaft 2 in and it never vibrated I used a big pipe cutter to cut it and a oxy acetylene torch to weld it
After all your hard work it must be a great feeling going for your first drive. Another great video. Please keep there coming. Enjoy sitting back in Brisbane Australia watching them.
You've got some awesome ankle vents! Love the car, I can't wait to get mine back on the road and I'm excited I won't need a different transmission crossmember as I'm going from a power glide to a TH350 as well. I have really enjoyed all these El Camino videos! Keep it up! The first time I saw my grandpa's 1960 El Camino was in the alley behind his house on Cooper street in Tucson when I was five years old! I asked him if I could have it someday and sure enough he gave it to me when I was 14. We drove it a while but then the power glide kept popping out of drive into reverse so we started taking it all apart to restore the whole car but life go in the way and I was a stupid teenager! Now 20+ years later we have concrete plans to get it back on the road. Thanks for the inspiration!
Hi, with most of the 60's car i buy that have full metal bumpers and or blinkers / indicators in the bumper, i tend to make up a small ground wire to each light housing , the number plate light and then run the wire into the boot and terminate the ground on either the wheel well panel or the rear parcel shelf Regards George
love the way you and your dad work together. i noticed is the grill bowtie emblem insert upside down, only reason is it looks like the V in the emblem is upside down
It runs and drives, very cool! The problem with the HEI distributor isn't the backside to firewall clearance it's that there's not enough room to remove it with how it sits under the firewall overhang. Put one in my 57 Chevy when the engine went in no problem but didn't have enough room to pull it up and out and that can be a big deal if you're on the road.
In your part of the world, you may have a problem with the flex fan and cooling. I live in Wisconsin, had the same fan on my chevy, it would over heat on a hot summer day. A ole stock car driver told me the 4 blade fan was the best. I had to change the water pump because of the same issues you are having, but in the end, it fixed the problem. Just saying.
Under her own steam ... wonderful and congrats ! Also saw you finally installed the tail light lens ... very cool. Just a heads up on your hood hinges. Just like on GM square body PU's, you need to push "back" and then "down" to close them ... otherwise, you'll end up with a crease in the middle of your hood; also lube the hinges well. Can't wait for the next installment guys.
Omg!! So bad ass!!! Can you make a video during night fall? I’d love to to see it cruise at night with lights on ✨ so cool to see the process. Thank you 🙏🏽
