Destiny, how do you do it? Seriously. I watched that fucking train wreck of a conversation with Lav, and watched the train wreck of a conversation with Max last night. They're two birds of a similar fucking feather. They're both legitimately insane, lying, or stupid at this point because they've pushed shit SO FAR that I can't think of them as normal at all. So these three choices are the options they have and I have no idea which one it is. Destiny, you gotta talk to more people with common sense to keep your damn SANITY. I mean jesus fucking cthulu, hastur christ. I would end up leaving these two high and dry, and here you are trying to explain shit to Lav. You got more patience than me, man.

Hey I think people need to realize lav isn’t stupid. She just doesn’t understand what the words she’s using mean. She has a large vocabulary, and just throws words around she clearly doesn’t know the meaning of .
As an ESL person myself , I think she would benefit from doing some vocab games with words destiny often uses so she can go back to copying his style. This MR GIRL arc she is having is a dead end.

Destiny had a really good point when he contextualized why this entire conversation was happening: It starts with him expressing how upset he was toward her comments to his stream. She then takes it upon herself to jump into his discord and have a conversation with him in the middle of this, and then proceeds to make the whole conversation about herself and her feelings. The problem is, he never asked. He didn't care why she was saying what she said, or what she was feeling, or what she meant. He didn't reach out to her. He didn't demand any kind of change in feeling or behavior from her. All he did was express his opinion and feelings about the things that he watched her say. Literally nothing she said in this conversation was even remotely relevant to him. The only reason she came on stream was because she knew she was going to look bad to his audience, and she felt the need to stop his perspective from being heard unchallenged.

The constant like "oh you don't understand why I did this, or why I feel like this" when I understand completely. We had a huge fight, I think I shocked her with how loud and mercilessly direct I got after 30+ years of me being pretty docile, and things haven't been nearly as bad since.) The biggest issue was she's a licensed psychologist so her arsenal of gaslighting was full of real zingers it took me years to unravel.
EDIT: Worst thing you can do with a gaslighter is try to explain how they're gaslighting you. If they're doing it, they know they're doing it. You never try to reason with them, you only tell them to knock it off. Anything else will cause them to look for excuses. They'll always end up with a pile of excuses, lies and half-truths a mile deep for each and every counter-argument you make. Just call them out and resist the urge to take the bait and argue.

I think Destiny called it when he pointed out that Lav customizes what she says to enhance her connection with whomever she is talking to, instead of looking inward and representing the truth, regardless of how it rubs up against others. This comes from being a people pleaser and being high in openness and agreeability. People like this end up learning the hard way what it means to develop integrity. The truth requires boundaries and I don't think she has developed those. Trying to be everything to everyone means you don't know who you are or you are afraid to be who you are because it means really putting yourself on the line. That is what true vulnerability is. You could almost appreciate a person more who unapologetically shit talks about other people and doesn't tip toe around it. But you can't shit talk someone and then rewrite history after the fact "with hindsight". Your hindsight about what your inner process was when you shit talked the person is utterly irrelevant to the accountable apology they need from you now.
When her thought process is probed, it tries to overcompensate by taking on various testable positions, which seem reasonable to Lav but to the aggrieved person seems dodgy. It's not about finding the "best fit" explanation or what happened, it's about acknowledging that you hurt somebody, that it was fucked up, and maybe even describing some actionable things you will do to avoid it in the future. The information on how to do this comes from empathy. You feel another person's suffering due to what you said/did and act from that. It's not an airy fairy intellectual exercise. Fundamentally, she doesn't want to see herself painted as a bad person, nobody does -- but personal development requires having your flaws pointed out. Where is the humility?
She's making this complicated only because she is trying so hard to shoehorn a certain conclusion into the facts, whereas Destiny just wants an accountable apology. So what did we learn from this? That Lav has a constructionist view of accountability and probably doesn't know who she is. It's why she can't reckon with someone like Destiny who just calls a spade a spade. Maybe the difference is simply maturity.

      @owenleal Рік тому +24

Being good at apologies is actually a deceptively hard skill to learn, one that I myself have only just learned to master, so dont feel too bad about doing shit like that. Its natural to want to cope and explain how some aspect of your actions werent your fault, or how you were also a victim of your actions. It pays to think through an apology before you give it. Dont apologise whilst still in the heat of emotion or guilt. Give the other person time to cool off, genuinely think about the things you did, how that affected the person and what you can do to make it better going forward. Prepare how you are going to communicate this to the other person. If you need to write it down, do so. Dont be afraid that it will make you seem fake. It shows that you considered the nature of your mistake carefully. Then just move off the topic. Dont pressure someone to forgive you even if you felt like you gave a really good and sincere apology. Thats where I used to go wrong. Give the person room to breathe and come back when theyre ready. If you consider the person's feelings in all areas of your apology, then you will avoid making excuses.

She's very annoying, but somehow Destiny finds her schizo style of conversation mixed with manipulation challenging, even though she got him triggered and that's a rare thing these days for Destiny. I think he's willing to compromise because it's some sort of debate brain gymnastics training session for him.
For her it's all an aesthetics game. She doesn't have any real positions, just juggles to the first thing that will make her appear stronger, dominant, in control. That's her only consistent thing and she even said that in their first interactions, it also explains her frustration with Chaeiry. They play the same game, but Chaeiry it's a little more calculated. She was so quick to unmask Chaeiry's accusations, they know they play the same boring game and call each other on it.
It was amazing at the end, her manipulation tactics are so engrained, instinctual, she can't stop doing them even when she wants to be real and take accountability. She almost cried not because she cares, she got frustrated by her incapacity to stop the manipulation and emulate some empathy, she can't help but use manipulation as a way out of any situation, funny but sad at the same time.
Maybe the obsession with this game of always seeming you are right and strong it's a borderline trait. Brittany Simons is also borderline and very similar to her, but fakes consistency better, her stance switches are also very quick but more subtle so they could temporarily seem to be mapped on reality, that's why she gets away with it before you can call out her bllsht. If you do call her out, she will just play around and pivot around the subject until you get bored, frustrated, or make you seem crzy.
It seems like by default these people feel so empty inside that they compulsively have the urge to refill their sense of self to the point of delusion. It doesn't matter what is right or wrong, they are always in need of an ego boost. They know it's all fake and they still do it.
That's why we find these people annoying, for a normal person that's mind boggling and makes no sense. Their game becomes obvious, but they still continue to play into delusion. A neurotypical may sometimes play this game but mostly for fun and stops when things get real, but a borderline narcissist will never stop, they may rarely pretend to concede in a condescending way at key moments just to feed on your frustration.
Maybe online they are fun to watch, but in real life they are like vampires, they drain you because you are interacting with them in good faith and they are just playing their self centred validation game that doesn't have much to do with reality, you can't have conflict resolution because they will always try to convince you it's your fault, you just have to avoid or minimise interaction with them and move on.

To me the saddest part of destiny being the literal deity that he is now is that because of the height he has reached, no matter who it is or what situation he can't really go fully unhinged and destroy someone, even now when he "takes off the kid gloves". So he wants to pick one person, for one week, and actually mobilize his fan base to destroy someone's life then at the end of the week pay them and apologize.

I had no idea who either of these people were until I stumbled into this video through debate search suggestions. So this is quite interesting as I have no allegiance to anyone here and no history at all . I’m in the football niche space I have no idea about twitch streaming or videos games . Here are my conclusions
1- she needs counseling - the internet is not going to be healthy for her. Just from this conversation I know she’s too sensitive for this . She wants the good parts of being online but cannot handle the downside. It doesn’t work like that . She’s not built for it. At least not right now. That’s 100% clear. She’s all over the board . It’s a mess
2- after this debate I went to some others before coming back to comment because now I’m interested and wanted to see what other interactions in this space are like . Here’s some observations
-most of these people who debate this guy think they are debating but they aren’t . They are just saying what they think then googling 2 studies to support it . That’s not debating they just want to hear themselves speak . There’s little to no intellectual strategy . Very disappointed . This guy needs more worthy opponents
2- I come from the football space of UA-cam and twitter. I take and give shit every day. It astounds me how soft and weak most these people are. It’s not a “debate” to say you think another guys tweet may have been taken the wrong way or was too harsh. That’s what half the debates are about . My response would be so what to everybody . Who cares if you don’t like my tweet? Who cares if it came off wrong to you and who cares if you disagree with me . Everybody in this space cares way too much what everyone else thinks and feels . The littlest micro aggressive tweets or Reddit posts or bans end up in 3 hour debates. It’s hilarious . You all take everything way, way too personally .

The funny part is, he can nearly always convince them to the point they entirely agree with his statement, they just wish he said it nicer on twitter. And his response is always the same, fuck no, I have no obligation to be nice.
And personally, independent of any obligation, people need a little school of hard knocks. If that comes in the form of mean tweets to immunize them slightly for the real world, so be it.

As someone just a few years older than Destiny, it's also very frustrating hearing people's vocabulary that sounds like it's straight out of the DSM-5. A whole generation so badly needs therapy that they all talk like strip mall therapists.
And it wouldn't be so bad if it was actual science but a lot of it originates in the universities. The pseudo-scientific shit like micro-aggressions, trigger warnings, fat phobia, and "my truth". People today have an entire vocabulary of victim language and it's gross.

I agree. I think this fact should be evidence for the "progressivism is taking over universities and having a bad cultural influence on young people" vs. "but it's just the universities, they're a niche part of society, it won't affect culture" debate.
This kind of language is so good at making people feel smarter and more introspective than they are. It's so attractive for young people.

Doing that, and following it up with asking if what you're feeling is real, and then making them do it to themselves gets results and moves things forward. If you're with a girl, this is an essential piece of tech that you need to understand, and we only got to witness this because women never want us to see the techniques they use against each other.
