Good evening, “SCBS forward gear malfunction” twice today on the way to Paris. Error code was P0101. Both times we were on the “downhill slope” with a gradient of around 8%. The outside temperature was 5 degrees and 10 degrees respectively. Both times I had my foot over the brake. I didn't press the gas or brake. Gear lever was always in D. First error triggered at 56kmh. Cruise control was not active. Second error a few hours later at 81kmh. Cruise control was active at 80 km/h. Shortly before the error was triggered, the automatic transmission shifted down a gear to brake the car. When the warning message appeared, I turned on the hazard lights and pulled over to the side of the road. When I braked there was an unusual jerking noise and I turned the car off. After a restart it ran normally again, as if nothing had happened. The intake tract was completely cleaned about 9 months ago. Boost pressure sensor and air flow meter are new and original parts. Unfortunately I don't know what to do next and I'd really like to ask for your help. Vehicle: CX5 Diesel AWD 150PS built in 2015
P0101 airflow outside of expected parameters is most likely due to the exhaust camshaft being worn & hydraulic follower’s underneath the camshaft should be checked when disassembled. Fresh air cannot get in if the exhaust hasn’t gotten out 🤔🤔
Hello! I have a 2016 Mazda 6 with P061B codes + P2228/P2226. It’s pointing towards ECM replacement but also Mazdas are known for these exact issues. Could my codes be this issue?
P2226 & P2228 are are pressure sensor related. I thing I would be looking at all the pressure sensor live data first before condemning an ECU. Are you based in Ireland??
CODE U0101 U0302hello sir i have 2016mazda skyactiv !!! please help anyone my car At15amo fuse keep pop right away when putting new one ,, car wont start at all ,, so if i take out the 3wire on fuse boxs witch is tcm yello/ purple sensor / black grown put the fuse the ignicion light on push start it light up but still no start
You are going to have a short circuit in that part of the wiring loom. Do you know what that fuse is for ??? I cannot identify it from ‘At15amo’. Once you find out what it is for, disconnect those components one by one, if that doesn’t work examine the wiring harness to those components in detail 🤔🤔
Hi from Ireland 👋👋 It can only be 2 or 3 items. 1. The intake manifold is blocked 2. The exhaust camshaft is worn 3. Some of the hydraulic tappets have gone soft. I have videos on the all 👍👍
Hi. Just out of interest did replacing the shaft and lifters cure the problem? I had a whole world of engine lights on. I had the vacuum pump replaced which sorted a couple and then had the dpf removed and mapped out which got rid of all but one - scbs. It comes on after driving for around 20-45 mins and the code points to mass airflow. I'm thinking that the vacuum pump may have been faulty due to the exhaust cam deteriorating.
Hi Chris, the only it’s that cause P0101 on these engines are intake manifold blocks, exhaust camshaft / rockers & hydraulic tappets, exhaust pressure sensor ‘A’ & pipe block. After replacing these do an airflow meter & egr relearn, then you are done. I have been caught in the early days with them but that is all that goes wrong 😉👍👍👍
Thanks so much. I'll see how I go. I'm not actually a mechanic but it seems these days you have to do your own research to take to your mechanic as otherwise you can end up spending a lot of money. I really appreciate the time you've put into figuring all this out and helping numptys like me 😊. These cars are fantastic so hoping I can get it sorted. Good work 👍
If I replace the lifters and exhaust shaft and get the intake manifold cleaned out are there any other jobs you'd recommend doing whilst it's all apart? Also what's your opinion on timing chain replacement on these engines. ? Thanks
@@chrisswan4257 you will need to replace the injector washers when doing the exhaust camshaft. Also replace the exhaust pressure sensor to the rear of the rocker cover ( the on with 1 pipe). The main timing chain doesn’t fail the the small oil pump chain in the sump does. I would recommend replacing that is ever possible. Lots of work to do now 😂😂😂
Hi i have the same problem but it appears only when I release the accelerator at high rpm.. example after accelerating to 120km/h 3500 rpm I release the accelerator and the problem goes away. Already cleaned EGR intake manifold and sensors. could it be the camshaft? Thanks
It could be the exhaust camshaft being worn but if I was you I would first look at the exhaust pressure sensor & check the adjoining pipe isn’t blocked 🤞🤞
thanks mate, I have already checked the tube and sensor and they are free. could it be the partially clogged dpf filter causing this? on the dpf I have pressure at 0 kpa at idle speed so it should be free. but the car has 220000km
if it were the camshaft, I think it would also cause the defect during acceleration or at constant speeds. the fault occurs only when the accelerator pedal is released after accelerating, even if not violently. I'm a little desperate😅
@@danielepiovan373 would a blocked or restricted Dpf cause an issue when the accelerator is released??? I wouldn’t think so 🤔 If the pressure sensor is good you then need to remove injectors and rocker cover to examine the exhaust camshaft, unfortunately. It fails on most Skyactive engines after 120 to 140,000 kms 😬😬😬 Where are you from??
@@kennedysgarage3281 I'm surprised as I hear Mazda upgraded exhaust camshaft and injectors washers in facelift. I have 2015 Mazda 6 and covered 216000 km. I just did full intake manifold and both EGR clean. I replaced exhaust pressure sensor and dpf pressure sensor. So it's looks like need to remove rocker cover and check exhaust camshaft .
And a sump removal to clean out oil strainer on oil pump
One of the other Mazda weaknesses 😬

We will change camshaft and the stuff underneath including the hydraulic ones. Thanks. You helped us a lot ❤️. Do you thing this will fix it? Thx
Mazda used make cars as their business.. Now they sell spares - like all the others.
