Why the DPF warning light goes on after oil change on my Mazda?
The DPF warning Light will blink every 20.000km as a reminder to change the engine oil. So it has to be reseted after every oil change.
How to clear DPF warning light at home and save?
It is very easy DIY procedure. No tools needed just a 1.5m long cable.
After an Oil change you have to reset the DPF/Service Indicator.
This particular model is MAZDA 5, 2009, 2.0 DIESEL, 103Kw/140PS but you could reset oil change light on all MAZDA Diesel 2005-2014.
In these models the DPF Light functions also as a Service Light (reminder to change the engine oil).

This worked perfectly! Temporarily triggered a glow plug warning light, but once wire was removed following the reset the flashing DPF light was gone. Got to go get an oil change ASAP now. Thanks so much!

Thanks! Worked. My service forgot to reset DPF after oil change several times, then they reseted it afterwards and I believe they did it in some similar way or with diagnostics, I don't know. It's quite stupid that is has to be hacked this way and also stupid from Mazda that it uses DPF control light only to mark that it should be reseted after the oil change. it scares me everytime it shows when somebody forgets to reset it after regular oil change.
I still have a question - what this hack actually does? Is it programming the control unit via NULL signals sent by gas pedal to specific pin or reset of the control unit or something else?
I agree. First time I was scared too, it looked like a problem for a several hundreds of euro.
And unfortunately I don't know what it does exactly so I can not answer your question.
This is very good, how to do the same on a CX3 Skyactiv 2018 , cabling is different, can't find the same. Merci d'avance

Hi can you offer any advice on how to get to the service socket located near the radiator. Do I have to remove the plastic housing above the radiator/ engine release mechanism?
I think it is not necessarily. The socket is visible right above the radiator.
El mio es un mazda5 2007. Cuando lo arranco se quedan encendidos los testigos de derrape, bolsa de aire, freno mano, motor y el dpf parpadea. Sera la falla igual a esta???

What year is your car? Different Mazda have different way to reset the DPF warning light.... Mine does not seem to have this front connection that you are using but has right side box with fuses and connections.
Mine Mazda 5 is 2009 (11.2008), facelift, 143PS. If this helps.

Thanks for the information/video. I have a 2015 Mazda 6 2.2 SkyActive Diesel with this problem. The Fuse Box looks different on this model to this video. Which fuse component should I be putting wire into on these models? Anybody have any ideas? Or does anybody know the name of the component that is being plugged into in this video? I can then find that name in the layout plan of my cars fuse box. Thanks.

I have no idea where is the service cable point on MAZDA CX-3. In my video I show how to reset the oil change reminder - DPF-Light in this particular model. As far as I know on Mazda CX3 you could do it by entering the maintenance menu on your vehicle computer.

I can not be sure if this works on a newer models of cars since their computers have much more problems to solve and probably they could have totally different reset instructions. Sorry.
Enter the maintenance menu on your vehicles computer. From there you could easily reset the oil change reminder light.

what gauge of wire did you use or does it matter?
It was a wire I had in the garage. I think it was 1 or 1.5 mm2, I think both types will do the job. Preferable a single wire inside.

Jus for the record, this tutorial isn't applicable for all Mazdas 2005-2014. I have a 2013 Mazda 6 2.2 diesel and the set up for connectors etc is completely different.

@@smartech108 Hmm, I don't think it's that, maybe it's just different with the Mazda 6. For example the dashboard is completely different to whichever one is shown in your video.
Because 2.2 skyactiv-d MK3 it's from 2012 but last 2.2d in MK2 is 2012. and have completely different everything.

So your DPF-Light is on not because of the mileage for oil change but for some other reason. Probably you should connect it to a computer to see the error message. Usually this is done in almost any garage or service point. The DPF-Light on Mazda Diesel Engine could light up if you drive all the time in the city. Another solution is to drive for about 30 minutes on a highway with more than 2200RPM. This burns the deposits from your Filter and cleans it.
So you didn't actually fix the dpf issue you just killed the warning. What the fuck?

Yes, that is the way the DPFilter is cleaned - with diesel. I'm not familiar how exactly the system works. In this video I show how to reset the REMINDER after changing the engine oil. It will light up EVERY 20.000km.
It will regenerate the DPF, DPF must be regenerated to the end of the regeneration. When you make this, the PDF will be loss and you damage the engine. Good Luck
