    Okay, so in this case the bearing on the top does nothing. If you didn't use a fence you would use the bearing?

    Hi may I ask you a question please . If I was to to use a dado (groove or slot) and perhaps a rabbet too for the top of a sideboard (I guess it would be a shoulder joint in this case) would you be comfortable with just glue or would you recommend also using dowells ? I am just afraid it might come apart..probably paranoid.
