    Hi. Very well done. I like it that you were taking your time and elucidated every little detail. Please make more videos. Usually people go very fast and your filming was very clear. Thanks.

    Okay, so in this case the bearing on the top does nothing. If you didn't use a fence you would use the bearing?

    Help! Beginner!!! So I bought some 3/4” in width maple, I am building a miter saw station. I have drawers to the left of my miter saw, cabinet doors in the middle (under miter saw) and drawers to the right. I am leaving a 1/16” gap between the boards (drawer fronts) I am using the same boards to go across the whole thing to achieve a clean, smooth look. So my question is, can I use 1/16” wood pieces to go in between the joints to keep the alignment of the grain of the wood? If I joint the cabinet door pieces, the wood grain will not align with my drawers to the left or right side. Hope that explains it well enough.

    Hi may I ask you a question please . If I was to to use a dado (groove or slot) and perhaps a rabbet too for the top of a sideboard (I guess it would be a shoulder joint in this case) would you be comfortable with just glue or would you recommend also using dowells ? I am just afraid it might come apart..probably paranoid.

    The dowels don't hold the joint together.

  • @beauhaubruge2946
    @beauhaubruge2946 5 років тому

    Warping is caused from the movement of water in or out of a piece of wood. I'd venture to guess that the pieces you were working with dried out. This is usually ok as long as the joint is still sound. Normally a little machining after glue-up is called for. Hope this helps! :)

  • @atm9566

    the dowels serve no other purpose but aligning the board. no reason for glue on the dowels. The glue on the edges is plenty.

    • @stanleysiewierski
      @stanleysiewierski 7 років тому

      Jeromy Burks , not so! I'm not sure where you heard that notion but you need to understand some certain structural principles, such as how the pieces of wood are glued for the use and the shear forces applied. It would have somewhat the same principles when inserting rebar in concrete. I think I saw a video of someone claiming glue is stronger than the wood perhaps in a good welding where the weld can be stronger.
