I have a similar story when I was around eight or nine I saw this Minecraft cat skin and I was like I want this to be a cartoon cat and I gave her a name and at the time I didn't even know what furries were and eventually a few years later I decided to join the furry fandom and now I actually have her as a fursona I'm fourteen now
Where i live, white fur is cheapest, brightly coloured is only slight more expensive (maybe a few dollars) and black and other natural colours are pretty expensive, or it just doesnt exist.
I very recently re-designed my fursona, and I completely agree with these points! One tip I have is to also look at a color wheel, and if you see any colors that stand out to you to use those in your design.

I can't see myself trying to do that for a fursona, but I would definitely do it for an original character.
Fun fact: Many people make pokesonas (not sure if the name is correct lol) which are pokemon furry OCs. Sometimes at conventions there are even panels for the Pokemon themed fursuiters.

My Fursona right now: Orbit He is a Australian Shepherd and German Shepherd hybrid, a friendly, energetic, and optimistic fellow, but can also become pretty arrogant. both eyes are blue, with a small symbol of an orbit around a planet inside the eyes themselves. Colours are pretty simple, black, white, brown, gray, and on the back light blue. The blue fur is on its back for the most part, and will also be the symbol of an orbit around a planet, to give it a little more character.
@@rainissance yeah you can find bases by simply googling them but people should only pick those that have the crestors name (like base by ---- do not crop out)
yeaah music had a LOT of impact on drawing(or just designing in general, I usually don't draw right away, I manipulate 100-1000 layers of images like a eccentric moodboard, it brings me to ideas I wouldn't think of drawing). I had atleast 3 that stood out for my PFP sona (Sekiro Divine Dragon is probably the most representative, it fits the character too well), and I got many more for all my other OCs. It just gets me in the mood to really design my lovelies.
My fursona is a cat/snake hybrid. I picked it to represent someone (me) who is pretty reserved and angry when not close to someone, but open and clingy when they are. His name is Hades, and he is green and black :3
I can agree so much with how you use music for inspiration to make characters! I just need to get better with drawing and then I can do it often! It would make me so happy to be able to draw like you so that’s why I’m finding info and tutorials on how to draw furries and stuff like that! I am determined to get to where I want to be with drawing! 😁

My fursona was originally based off of Tom from ED (Edds World) but then through the years she changed and she is my main fursona now with a whole entire backstory that is still continuing.

Could you use a game called gacha life to base your fursona off of?
Edit:And if so would it be easy or difficult? Since you can't really see the back of your character on gacha life.(If I can I basically already have a character I wanna create. Its theme song would probably be...hmm I don't know that yet, her personality/Looks/friend is/are:Quiet,Kinda friendly,Loves foxes,Her emotions are actually real as in she can turn and look at her emotions and talk to them they also have there own names,Her name is Shadow,she is a little depressed because of her backstory (If you would like to hear her backstory just ask 😸),Her best friends are a green wolf called Toxic and one of her emotions called Red(obviously Red is anger),Shadow is a hybrid between a fox and a wolf,She is fully black with pink-ish purple-ish eyes. I have created her in gacha life,wish I knew how to show you qwq.
