Hi Skye you are one of the top furrys that made me caught attention on the fandom. The furry fandom has give me so much happiness no one else could and I cant wait to go to my first con, meet new people and so much more! Without you, i have had a chance to not be where i am right now. I got alot to thank you for!❤
oh my god, my first fursuit was a protogen. not only, i made a fullsuit too XD it was the most ambitious thing ive ever done, and it was so rewarding to get so much attention at FurCon. I'm so happy I attempted it c:
@@JadeOart I just looked at your channel (subbed) and that design is so good and cool you should definitely post the whole thing cause I just saw the head, tail, and paws
Domestic cat was my first suit and then, like a fool, tried to do a opossum second haha! As for the master class series, I would LOVE an episode of how you keep your hands and wrist healthy, whether its stretches, exercises, braces, any tips you might have!
I’m not a fursuit maker but maybe look up hand stretches for musicians in the mean time? There’s lots of videos on hand stretches and exercises for a whole array of different reasons, but I mostly follow musician ones as a beginner pianist! Hope that helps:)
My first sona was a cat named Bea (I was like 13 and barely knew what furries were) and I evolved them into a rock and roll loving bee-cat named Beezle. And while they're really cool now, I'm glad I started off with a simple design and evolved them from there. I don't have a "Main" sona and I wouldn't say Beezle is my main, but they're probably one of the oldest I have.
I CANT DO THIS ANYMORE! Y’all are creative and nice and have awesome suits! I feel like I am left out on so much fun without being a furry! It is official: I am a furry :D
Hi it’s Eclipse the Husky-Angel-Dragon again! Finished my dog fursuit and it looks amazing! The way I got a comment in before the video posted last time was because I’m a patreon and I got early access. As always I love what you’re doing Skye! Keep it up!
Glad to see you again, Skye! Honestly, I wanted to make my first suit my latest character, which is also my original species. The head has a long, draconic nose, but a feline nose. They include huge fangs and a special marking on the forehead. The character herself is everything you are warning me against: Large wings, horns, extremely complicated markings, and gradient colors in places. I really wanted to make her first, but I should probably start smaller. You mentioned bunnies, canines, and big cats being easier. I could wither start with my DnD leonin character, or River and Elyssa from the video game Armello. Tha nk you for such an informative vid!
This video is awesome I cannot wait for this series and will be referencing it once I begin to make fursuit premades in the future. Keep up the good work!
Your fursuit is so cute! Just eye candy to me in general. The follow me eyes are on point, and just everything about it is so calming to me, along with your wonderful voice! I think your my new comfort channel ❤
I’m recently making a fursuit and ended up choosing a old design of a mouse character I made, (with a few different tweaks) but this is great to know that it won’t be as hard as I thought it would. Thanks Skye 🤩
I made a goat as my first and it turned out so good! It was easier to make than I thought it would be, especially with how few hand hoof tutorials there are. I’m making a canine as my second and it’s actually a lot harder for me. It’s a lot more corners to work with, at least the way I wanted mine to look, and seeing the beans on is a challenge
I’m making a Wicker as my first suit. To me, with having my sona for a while, think that their anatomy is fairly simple. Especially with my design. Though, I only plan to carve the head. I am not confident in my sewing. I should start in a few weeks, hopefully it goes well!
This video is very interesting to me. I am writer when comes to the community and I never draw let alone sew anything except repairing a button on a shirt. I knew some suits are more complicated but never really thought about it more than color/fur pattern complexity. Simple fact that people are able to do those difficult ones is incredible and make me understand and appreciate skilled suitmaker much more. Yes I am dragon/reptilian with NO fur so bummer I guess 😅. Would be much easier to make a suit of my ponysona from brony.
OMG THATS MY FRIEND!!! I met Jave in college and he’s honestly amazing. He graduates this year I believe. I’ve seen the suits he’s made in this video in real life, went on outings with him, he’s honestly the best and I can’t believe im seeing his work here. I miss the college days if hanging out with the furries at college. Art school.
i decided a while ago that i want my first fursuit to be a bear because i figured it would be easier than other animals, so this was very validating :D loved the video!
So about makeing skullies. They are pretty easy of your buying a base but if you are makeing a foam skull it's a lot harder. But I'd recommend the sks props pattern for skulls :33
I know that reptiles are difficult to make, but I had too good of an idea to pass up. I thought of a chameleon patchsuit who I planned on making my first suit. I know it’s ambitious but i really plan on it.
I got as far as making a foam proto head base before I gave up and just commissioned a professional for an electronic one. Enter my strikingly beautiful, pinky girl Lyca! I've gotten so many compliments for her. I hope her maker is proud of how well she did with my girl!
My first suit that I am still building is a sailfish. Just had to choose a species that has NO reference for suit shape (at least that I’ve found) so I had to figure it out myself, and the bill+frill+big ol’ tail!! It has gone super super well so far so it’s not too much he’ll for me yet
thanks for this amazing video. i am currently working on my own fursuit but i sadly have many many MANY hurdles to cover, from lack of good information on how to make it without paying for every minute, to my allergy to any synthetic cloth.... anything "Poly'somethingsomething" is a no-go. it is only mild so i am not allowed to "wear" anything synthetic for prolonged times and definitely not "sweat" in it. (finding sport-clothing is a B*) decided on something lizard-like and am trying to use soft bamboo cloth. currently struggling with seams and attaching it all to the head. i would like to share more, but am not sure how or where. anyway, lvoely video, great advice and will be looking forward to the next one.
If you need a hard beak you can use EVA foam. It's harder and more durable and if you have a heat gun and get a beak pattern you can cut out and make beaks forever. EVA foam is also paintable and light so whatever color you need you can make it then slap that baby with a final clear coating to seal it. This is an extra option if you can't do hard resin beaks or don't want to do soft fabric beaks.
My first suit is a bee+cat. Cat with bee antennas, wings, and a striped body/tail. So glad it's not going to be overly complicated to make as ive started the head base and i definitely did it wrong 😂😅
I'm actually currently making my second bunny partial(both personal sonas), and heavily debating on what I want to make if I want to make another personal fursuit since I've got so many sonas.
Making an owl as my first fursuit head since my cousin gave me a base for one, and yes it’s probably going to be challenging, but as I fur dinomasks, I’m beginning to learn just kinda the basics of fursuit making, so hopefully I can do it 😅 wish me luck, can’t wait to spend weeks doing it lol
I went off the deep end for my first fullsuit. I’ve made plenty of heads but no bodysuit till now and I decided that the most asymmetrical busty lion would be perfect for my first
My first suit in progress has some solid foundation (pre made head base, patterns for tail + paws) and its pretty straightforward for a feline suit (he's mostly gray, might see if i can corporate some stars in his design) but the biggest challenge comes down to the fact that he is a robot cat... I just made him furry and more cat like for the suit. The visor will give me difficulty and its increased due to the fact that its a mask style visor and not more of a full face one like a protogen. Got a game plan and hope it works because I didn't want to lose the follow me eyes. His lights are simple too, only going in his inner ears + eyes
Closest thing I own to a fursuit is a wolf mouth mover mask. And ngl have had so much fun wearing it, just can’t wait to someday know what the real thing is like.
I was staring my First Fursuit out as a Fox/wolf but changed up and now I'm going the Direction of a Rabbit as i feel my Fursona drawn in that Direction also I'm basing it off of my Bunny Backpack, im adding more colors than my Bunny backpack that is all black. The issue ive run into is shaving the foam and shaping it correctly lol ill keep going until I get it just right, i use to make my own hand sewn Halloween costumes when I was a child so I'm familiar with sewing and different sewing styles, i know it's difficult to make a Full Fursuit but I'm going for it, one way or another if it doesn't turn out right the first time ill still wear it until im ready to remake it or I'll try and make my original Fursona i started out with. Im watching as many tutorials as im able to find to get better, I don't have any plans to become a Fursuit maker though only my own. Awesome video even though im really late to find it lol
What about airplane dragons? I imagine it would be pretty hard. As I have never seen an air plane dragon fursuit. And depending on if your airplane dragon fursona has a visor or not. You’d have to make the visor yourself, which I imagine would be very similar to making a protogen visor. Just without the option to by it.
I'm new to the furry Fandom, I'm only 13. My fursonas are a hare and a koala, so this made me so happy as I'm so excited to make my fursuit when I am older, have more experience in the Fandom and have more money! Love your videos skye :)
My first suit was a PAIN since I was doing my own species that was basically a concoction of terrible features (long muzzle, bat nose, massive curved ears which point straight back, long striped tail, a snarling face, massive teeth and even gauges) and it was a pain to make. She turned out pretty good minus theB quality fur I used. Second suit was a fleece bat with anatomically correct wings (each of my fingers puppeteer a digit of the wing). Can say, please just pick a simple thing for your first suit lol
Hay sky I am just saying you are one of the first furies that made me check out the fandom and i have an idea for a suit but I just want to wait till If I am sure if I want to join the fandom btw I’m 12 anyways enjoy your day
So a modern work around the problem of "Skull-faced" things and "carving" I seen been use of 3D printed parts, while getting 3D printer yourself is a tad expensive (we are looking at around 100-300 ish dollars for plastic FDM ones), but there are services for those as well as things like certain teaching instutions and libraries, allowing for easier making of these parts, granted from one I made I realized joining parts together can be a bit hard in case of flawed prints.
I’m currently working slowly on my second and third suits, a housecat and a canine of sorts (still deciding the species) hope that they come out good! I’ll soon be binging some of your tutorials lol
Love the video... So much info on these species. Now I know what I want to make if I was a maker. Thank you so much for the info. Live your channel and videos... Keep up the great job...
OMG I love this videoooo!!!! this series is a perfect preperation for when im ready to start my own kitty suit ^-^ Just a heads up: I loved looking at your beautiful headpiece but for someone whose first language isn't English, it was hard to understand some bits because of the head, especially when some of these words are new to me. Anyways, I loved this lesson! Can’t wait for the next one!!!!!!
When I get old enough to make a fursuit, imma put a squeaker in it cuz the NOISE is just so LUSCIOUS! Ahhh, the nice SQUEAK! SQUEAK! SQUEAK-ing! Of the noise....YES
I'm gonna be making my domestic dog fursona, because she's the simplest design. I'm happy canines have so many tutorials, because it's going to be my first try at a suit.
First suit I wanna make is my main fursona which is an australian+german shepherd, which ofc has spots. Damn im gonna struggle but I am so hyped (he also has one floppy ear which will be effort). Id only make a mini partial maybe a full partial though.
my first partial handmade suit was a feline and second was a bird. Surprisingly wasn't too bad for me, did have some trouble with the wings but otherwise not too hard overall.
We're going to pretend I'm not a year late sooo yeah... Anyways what would you rate a cat-dragon cause dragon was rated low and house cat was rated high so I wasn't sure. Thx 😊
Ah, misread the title as fursona. Either way my current domain of art is in the VR realms but I’ll keep this in mind if and when I decide to acquire a suit of fur.
I'm currently working on an Ampwave (as my third suit) and BOI its difficult. I got the head shape and ears down fine, but the TEETH oh god. and theres zero tutorials and only like three other suits. so clearly i made the perfect choice 😀
@@Butimhersister their typically not very complex in design, they typically have large more round-ish ears, cat like snouts that often aren't very long, however it can differ due to art styles and what slugcat it is, often spearmaster is depicted with a triangular snout due to not having a mouth. three fingers and often three toes each but that's up to the person who made the scug. they can have a variety of features. also make note to have large eyes that are single color if your trying to make a normal one (this does not apply to rivulet or custom slugcats however it is the most common feature.) they differ greatly. however there is more detail in fanmade ones as to give it personality, ingame ones are simple so you don't need all that much pixel art because of how tedious it tends to be. so the pros and cons PROS: highly customizable easy to draw (most of the time) unique CONS: you may struggle at finding methods to draw them as their arms are tucked into their bodys when not in use at most times if your trying to be game accurate. expressions can be fairly blank unless given pupils.
Insect suits are interesting to me. no one really makes them, so if you want one you have to make it yourself. but because no one makes them, no one's making tutorials for them either. it's an unfortunate loop. currently saving up to make a housefly fursuit, and when i do i plan on making tutorials for every aspect of the process i can.
also a lack of tutorials could be due to the fact there's such a wide range of insect shapes. a praying mantis is going to have a very different build than an isopod, or ladybug, or arachnids. unlike say canines, where although there are differences between a fox and a wolf, they're much easier to generalize.
Me over here hoping to make a moth husky when I am older I love your videos so much and they inspire me to be crafty. (Even if my family doesn’t like furries)
I actually made a moth for my first fursuit thinking it would be easy. It was. I like how it turned out but I REALLY wish it was smaller. If it was smaller I think it would be a great first fursuit!
Just out of curiosity, what's your beef with minky? I recently used it to make a hand puppet and found it wonderful to work with, does it work differently on larger/stiffer materials?
I've been wanting to make a bat fursuit and I'm happy to know that the only part that you think would be hard is the leaf nose since not all bats have a leaf nose. I was wanting to do a flying fox bat which have snouts so I think that would be making it easier
I did a dragon in 4 days for my first one. Pulled 14 hour days and got it done the night before anthrocon. Didn't look too bad considering how underprepared I was.
Hi skye I’m Alex a new fursuit maker and my fursona is a cat thingy hybrid but it has the little fluffy things on the cheeks and I wonder if I should make that out of fome or if I should just sow long fur on Thx for helping us new makers ❤
this was fun! I'm making a cat because i thought it would be easy first time and learning to sew ^-^ But i am not doing a full head so i guess i dropped the difficulty there
Ah I wish I had this when I started, I am mediately started with a cat Finnic fox if you didn’t know, both the species have really tiny mouths and that was kind of really hard to achieve
Hi Skye. I love watching your videos and think they are very helpful on giving tips for people who want to make fursuits. I myself partially want to try out making one. A friend of mine gifted me his old fursuit head, it still looks pretty good and not bad at all however the eyes are a mess. He told me I can do with it what I want and that what I'm planning to do. I want to change the eyes but how do I do that with an already finished suit? They have an eyeliner that makes me a bit dysphoric and I want to change the eyes ti a more "masculine" look.
are chibi costumes also possible like characters from Sanrio such as Hello Kitty, Kuromi, My Melody, Wish Me Mell, Aggretsuko, Jewelpets, and many many more?
I'm making a fox for mine first but since I had scarps laying around, I decided to try making a bunny. My fox nose didn't turn out right and thought bunnies could be higher then S because you can get away with just making slits for the nose as supposed to trying to mold a fox nose and it not looking correct.
My first and only fursuit so far is a very crappy white dog that is small and I can barely breath in it lol. I didn’t have a sewing machine at the time so all of her fur was glued on in tiny bits. I plan on making a frog/dog or leaf bug fursuit in the future and I already made the designs for them. Hopefully they turn out good now that I’ve done other projects like Dino masks and tails and I’m more experienced :)
I’m having this play in the background while making my possum suit, and now I’m making magnetic baby possums
That you you for that idea!
Pls dm me pictures of this glorious creation with the multitude of magnet babies when it’s done! 😭💙

You’d have to make the visor yourself, which I imagine would be very similar to making a protogen visor. Just without the option to by it.
Protogens are so cool, but I'm definitely not gonna attempt to do electronics for my first fursuit lol
Hay sky I am just saying you are one of the first furies that made me check out the fandom and i have an idea for a suit but I just want to wait till If I am sure if I want to join the fandom btw I’m 12 anyways enjoy your day
As someone who made a protogen fullsuit as my first suit, your analysis is totally fair lol
I was wondering what my suit will look like and it helped me a lot!
What species ya doin
@@5dollarbiggiebag it's from Brazil, it's the bird Arara Blue
@@MeloitheFur OOOOOH
OMG I love this videoooo!!!! this series is a perfect preperation for when im ready to start my own kitty suit ^-^
Just a heads up: I loved looking at your beautiful headpiece but for someone whose first language isn't English, it was hard to understand some bits because of the head, especially when some of these words are new to me.
Anyways, I loved this lesson! Can’t wait for the next one!!!!!!
14:39 Grabs my anthro rabbit ref
When I get old enough to make a fursuit, imma put a squeaker in it cuz the NOISE is just so LUSCIOUS! Ahhh, the nice SQUEAK! SQUEAK! SQUEAK-ing! Of the noise....YES
this is actually a pretty helpful video for a lot of people i think
I'm gonna be making my domestic dog fursona, because she's the simplest design. I'm happy canines have so many tutorials, because it's going to be my first try at a suit.
Skye I love you're Fursuits they look good
I love your videos! They’re always so helpful! Keep up the good work.
i literally started designing my first suit today !!
Thx 😊
You really interested me into furries .You are probably my top favorite furry youTuber❤
15:12 but here's the real question, what about feline-like lizard bois?
I’m planning on making a lizard suit ^^
Oooh what kind of lizard?
@@PastelTheWolf gecko ^^
@@CelestiaR that’s so cute 😁
Ah, misread the title as fursona. Either way my current domain of art is in the VR realms but I’ll keep this in mind if and when I decide to acquire a suit of fur.
I'm currently working on an Ampwave (as my third suit) and BOI its difficult. I got the head shape and ears down fine, but the TEETH oh god. and theres zero tutorials and only like three other suits. so clearly i made the perfect choice 😀
rainworld fan here, im just going to give out a suggestion for suits since their designs normally are fairly simple.
Slugcats!
that sounds unique
@@Butimhersister their typically not very complex in design, they typically have large more round-ish ears, cat like snouts that often aren't very long, however it can differ due to art styles and what slugcat it is, often spearmaster is depicted with a triangular snout due to not having a mouth. three fingers and often three toes each but that's up to the person who made the scug.
they can have a variety of features. also make note to have large eyes that are single color if your trying to make a normal one (this does not apply to rivulet or custom slugcats however it is the most common feature.) they differ greatly. however there is more detail in fanmade ones as to give it personality, ingame ones are simple so you don't need all that much pixel art because of how tedious it tends to be. so the pros and cons
PROS:
highly customizable
easy to draw (most of the time)
unique
CONS:
you may struggle at finding methods to draw them as their arms are tucked into their bodys when not in use at most times if your trying to be game accurate.
expressions can be fairly blank unless given pupils.
Me over here hoping to make a moth husky when I am older
I love your videos so much and they inspire me to be crafty.
Ur my def 1st fav furry!
Love your vids
I've been wanting to make a bat fursuit and I'm happy to know that the only part that you think would be hard is the leaf nose since not all bats have a leaf nose. I was wanting to do a flying fox bat which have snouts so I think that would be making it easier
I absolutely love bears, so obviously I gotta make a bear fursuit
I am so relieved, as I’m just about to start making my first, and my fursona is a rabbit.
I’m so excited for this series!
Zori! Hiiii!

I did a dragon in 4 days for my first one. Pulled 14 hour days and got it done the night before anthrocon. Didn't look too bad considering how underprepared I was.
Hi skye I’m Alex a new fursuit maker and my fursona is a cat thingy hybrid but it has the little fluffy things on the cheeks and I wonder if I should make that out of fome or if I should just sow long fur on
Thx for helping us new makers ❤
Last year i made a Catfish premade (Not a hybrid just fish :D) It is still one of my favorite suits i've got to make
love your suits
this was fun!
A lot more opossums then I thought. Anyway thx for the help with making my fursuit :D
I am so glad someone finally added goats to something 😭
My first fursona that i ACTUALLY wanted was a kemono harp seal pup cuz it was easy and adorable
are chibi costumes also possible like characters from Sanrio such as Hello Kitty, Kuromi, My Melody, Wish Me Mell, Aggretsuko, Jewelpets, and many many more?
17:45 and that’s why I use a sewing machine!
Could you use foam clay to make the antlers for a fur suit or do you have to make them out of resin or plastic?
