    Ok, everything he said is true. He was a bit light on the "winter time" which occupies a majority of the year. However, please put the crime stats in the proper prospective. Crime is not acceptable in any form, but Erie's crime is very light compared to other metropolitan urban areas. 2022 homicides in Erie was 5 I believe? Baltimore hovers around one a day for the year. 365 ish. Every year. Yes, B'More is bigger, but not that much compared to the crime rate. Born and raised in the Erie area, moved away and still miss it. NW Pa has a lot to offer and it seems that it takes moving away to appreciate it.

    Hi Joe, we will be moving to Erie from Toronto Canada. How is the city for new immigrants?

    • @joeherbertrealty
      @joeherbertrealty  Рік тому +3

      Hi Clark. Erie is very friendly to immigrants and new relocating individuals and families. Most neighborhoods in Erie are integrated with numerou cultures, religions, and ethnicities. It is very easy to make friends here, get involved with organizations, networking opportunities, and learning how to get around. It amazes me how quickly people become Erieites and typically make Erie their permanent home. My cell number is 814-602-6181. What is your timeline for relocating to Erie?

      Thanks Joe. This is great to hear. Would you think it's a good idea to move to Erie via uber? Toronto to the Niagara border, cross the rainbow bridge then to Erie PA? My company will cover the fare. We're planning to move in early Feb 2023. Also, I don't drive but I guess that needs to change when we get to Erie.

      Hi Clark. I would recommend learning to drive and buying a car if you are going to live in Erie. We do have a public transportation bus system but we do not have a subway or public rail transportation. When you arrive in Erie do you have lodging arranged until you rent an apartment or purchase a home?

    • @clarkkent1922

      @@joeherbertrealty Thanks Joe. Yes we will stay in a hotel for a few days until we find an apartment we could rent. We would like to see how it feels like living there before we plan to purchase a home. And yes, I will be buying a car. I know it's not like NYC or Toronto.

    Erie is gray 80% of the time and don't go to the east side if you value your life.

    • @joeherbertrealty
      @joeherbertrealty  Рік тому +2

      I'm on the east side all the time. Crime is not running rampant in the streets here, it's a pretty safe place to live. And gray 80% of the time? This is an exceptionally beautiful place to live. Erie tourism provides over 15,000 jobs and brings in $1.2 billion dollars a year.

    1. Erie and the 3 near by cities are all in the same rust belt and will never return to their glory days 2. Lake Erie water effects the fall weather with gloomy overcast days leading into heavy snow storms in November and December. 3. Much of the local economy is supported by pensions and social security due to demographics this will dry up in the next 20 years and then who will replace their lost income if their kids now living in the parents basement, working at fast food joints for slave wages? 4. I have lived here 74 years and watch the decline of Erie and of America as the global elites pulled the strings …as Klaus Schwab said “you will own nothing” I believe Erie will remain on that same trajectory. So, i am not saying what to do, i am just presenting a missing prespective

      Every city has its share of this, but it's pretty limited in Erie. There will always be those people who seek out the bad stuff like there's a reward for it. You can look for that, or you could look and see all of the amazing things Erie has to offer.

    • @mayavenuemisfit814
      @mayavenuemisfit814 Рік тому +2

      I have to agree with both of you. Erie has a lot of "bad stuff" like the original poster mentioned, and it has been getting progressively worse.
      But I also agree with Joe. When you compare Erie to other Rust Belt cities our size such as Youngstown, Flint, and Gary, our problems still really aren't that bad. I have relatives in Youngstown and I go there all the time. They're doing a lot to fix it, but it is still in way worse shape than Erie ever has been.

      Spot on! Erie is a backward thinking community that consistently loses people year after year. It used to be the 3rd most populous city in Pennsylvania; however, the democrats who ruin the town have consistently destroyed the desires of keeping companies in town. Sure move to Erie if you want a $10 / job at Walmart, cold dreary weather, and moronic city leaders.

      respectfully, a lot of people don't leave Erie because they have a "poor attitude". They leave because there are better opportunities, better weather, better schools, and an overall better quality of life elsewhere.
      I will agree that you are correct about the many positives Erie has to offer. But there are also just as many, if not more, negatives about it as well.

      I left my home in 99', Erie. Visited a few times off and on.. funerals ...Came back to visit last summer, stayed a week, they really did a lot since I left, I laughed at the idea of a resort town, because that's the direction they took. But it's not all that bad, at least not as bad as it was growing up from 1974 to 99' . It's not what my parents seen, the death of our industry, but it's not as terrible as when i left it.

    No. 6 - There is no work or jobs in Erie. The unions have forced all the major manufacturers out, and greedy management has assisted them ! Go look at what used to be produced in Erie and what is produced there now. Someone should do a video on what Erie used to have (back in the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s) and how easy it was to get good employment.
