I used to play around that church in the 80s so sad to see how it looks now, I remember being told to run round the church 3 time but each time pass you must knock on the door and the witch would come

Thanks for the comment. Nice to hear stories from the past about basildon.
Apparently, the grave that is on site is the grave of the witch.
It's a shame that they have done to it and turned it into a mobile phone mast, but you do get some lively views from there.

@@dronevidsuk She wasn't a witch...She became pregnant by a black man in London, so they called her a witch. The inscription on the grave says "she was the lowest of her race..."
