Bringing back memories of my late grandfather’s 1988 white acura legend. I was an 8 yr old kid but I remember being super impressed at the tech, leather seats, and a moon roof. It was a big deal back then believe it or not and I spent many days washing it for allowance money.

Hopefully Acura outsells the honda line up. I think Acura should be the replacement brand name for honda name, in North America. Honda should discontinue all their econo cars, and replace everything with new mid level Acura autos, and also continue selling premium line up of Acura autos too.
I am aware both Acura and honda are under the same roof. But I find the Acura TL Type-S alot more enjoyable to drive compared to the econo honda version of the autos, the Acura V6 is way more enjoyable to drive than autos with the four cylinders.
I bought an Acura MDX 2003. Sold last year with over 200k miles. I was a bad owner not taking care of it. If I was better, I could keep well over 300k miles. Very solid cars.
My wife bought a 2013 TL super Handling all wheel drive new at the end of that year. It still looks and drives like brand new and is georgious in black. Very high quality car. Because it is a Honda product we consider 8 years old still new and the car matches that faith in product.
I have an ‘06 TL with 6 sp. manual transmission, 250 k plus. Still can break 6 sec mark from 0-60…no modifications. I parked it when I got my MDX and it ran perfectly. Wished I could start it and put it back on the road
Glad I watched this, I'm planning to go from my Lexus to a TLX Type S when they come out in the next model year, no doubt the Japanese make a better luxury car in the sense of enjoyment and reliability.

I’m happy with my 2007 Honda Fit. Thing runs brand new and maybe the best vehicle I ever owned for reliability and the money it saves. Owned 7 cars throughout my life so far and never had a lemon and even my 2000 Jeep Cherokee Xj runs like it’s new but even it’s reliability is second to my Fit.
This was a great one Scotty. The Acura Legend was the best ride I ever had in any car. It had just the right amount of comfort/power/low noise/smoothness IMO. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
You should give him a Honda if you want it as a first car. If I'm right and it's his first car don't do it. Young drivers (like me) still have a high chance of crapping something and if the car's shiny and "new" it's even worse if you ruin the paintjob or else..
I owned a 1990 Acura Integra, a 1992 Legend, and now a 2013 RDX. Although I am not impressed with the 2013 RDX driving and handling, I am looking forward to the new 2022 MDX which appears to be promising the whole new driving experience.
Nice video Scotty, keep up the good work. The 1st car I ever bought with my money was a 1967 Camaro. I got it November 1977. The motor was from a Vet and had a HP of 540. 4 speed inline Hertz stick, 12 inch bell housing, high speed/interceptor rear end. I got a ticket once for going 95; I was only in 2nd gear running 6200 rpms. This car leaked oil; coming out of both ends. Broke both motor mounts within a year, broke the clutch plate a year later. I learned more about cars in those 2 years than most mechanics learn in a life time. That is why I like your videos. You know cars.

He failed to mention Honda's second plant now in Lincoln, Alabama now producing close to 400,000 each year. When they open the new joint Mazda/Toyota mega plant in Huntsville along with the Toyota engine plant, and mega plants to for years now with Mercedes and Hyundai also sending many hundreds of thousands of new cars and SUV's around the world will soon make Alabama the 4th largest new car producer in America. Alabama is also home for two major car makers new battery plants and Air Bus with 10,000 high paying aero space jobs is producing three excellent passenger planes one on the cover of my 6th best selling book. I flew in one last year to Australia with my wife and it is very quiet and comfortable for long flights. My heart was broken when my 2001 Integra was totaled after 16 years and 210,000 miles. It was still in great condition and was a blast to drive...especially on winding roads. P.S. It was T- boned by someone who ran a light.

@@jayasmrmore3687 it’s a nice car and I think underrated but they don’t sell well at all and BMW and Mercedes dominate the full size sedan segment, so it’s a waste of money for Acura. They are doing what they do best and going back to making luxury performance cars.
My ‘15 tlx has been a good highway commuter. Stable and quiet but fun enough to drive. Cheap to buy and operate. but now at 80k+ the transmission is seeming a little flaky. Not sure what my next car will be. Tlx? G80? Es f sport? German? Any ideas for someone who liked the tlx?

My dad worked at one of the first Acura dealers in 1987 just down the road from the Honda plant here in Ohio. I grew up around these cars and thought they were the coolest cars around back then. They’re great cars and I’m looking forward to what I hope to be a return back to the days when they were top of their class.
I just traded my 2013 Infiniti G37 in for a 2016 Honda accord EX-L. I was disappointed initially because that’s all my credit allowed (considering I haven’t worked almost two years finishing nursing school). But within a day of driving it I’ve fallen in love with it. I can’t put my finger on it but I just feel more secure in it and it’s got more bells and whistles than my Infiniti had (granted it is 3 years newer). I now remember why I always loved Hondas when I had them in the past. My next vehicle WILL be an Acura.
I really wish the new nsx was like the older one. Analog and raw feeling. Not the crazy tech version. It took away what made the old one special. The simple well built everyday supercar. I understand why Acura/Honda did it but, come on.... makes me miss the old days when driving was an experience. And not just for convenience. Ps love you Scotty. You’re the reason I got a Acura TL in the first place. I still have it. :)

In my apprenticeship years at Honda my class of 1994 was first to study and repair the NSX . All aluminum body and suspension every bolt , nut marked and torqued. Was amazing
Your videos kick arse.. I wish you were close so i could have you work on my vehicle... every time i took my car to get even a simple oil change they would always screw something up... They overfilled my oil last time then proceeded to use a huge vacuum to suck it out... Next day i bought 4 jackstands 2 3 ton jacks and mobil one oil filter and oil.... no more jiffy screwed...
Just bought my first car not too long ago, 2000 Civic EX 5MT. My dad told me not to buy it bc it had 270000 miles but i did anyway. I'm so glad i did. Even my dad likes to drive it now
Thank you for educating me on everything cars Scotty. Had I not discovered your channel, I’d probably be driving money pits like Porsches and Beamers cuz I’m such a superficial twat. Thank you so much Scotty, God bless! 😇
@@VexingFob Acura just teased the 2022 Integra. I have it on good authority that Acura is planning on phasing out the ILX and replacing it with the Integra.
1:36 "The design was so simplistic that it lacked features..." - keep in mind that was for the US market. Accords made for Japanese market were spaceships compared to what was sold in the US, especially in the 80s-90s. Speaking from the personal experience.
I have a 2000 TL 3.2 (I'm the original owner) with just under 247,000 miles on it...still going! (If I ever win the lottery, my dream car is the 2019-20 TL with P-AWS...had a Prelude with all-wheel steering back in the day, and loved it!!)
So did I, we bought it used. We had a brand new Transmission put in it because there was a recall. Honda did a fantastic job replacing the Transmission, never had any other problems with that car. I miss that car, I gave it to my sibling and bought an Accord.
I have looked at the new 2022 MDX and it looks terrific and most car reviewers are raving about the many changes inside and out. I plan to drive it at our Hoover, Alabama location early February. Just drove the new Genesis GV80 last week, and it is also excellent, but they marked it up on mid-range model over $11,000 above list price. That is stupid and they need to get this brand off and running before taking advantage like that. There is just to much competition. I just wished they had bumped up to a plug-in hybrid. I plan on buying my wife and I plug-in hybrids, as so many friends have tried straight EV's only finding the infrastructure is not good in 90% of America. In five years or so, that may change, but we like traveling and hearing scary stories of friends and family stranded with their EV's does not set well. If you run out of battery at say 40 miles or so, it just switches over to gas mode and you may travel maybe up to 350 more miles with no driver anxiety. The MDX will still do well, but Lexus will not sit there to long without addressing this in both the NX this fall, with a plug-in hybrid and perhaps the RX 450h not far off. Now, that may just be worth waiting for, 42+ miles on pure electric charge, and maybe 350+ miles on gas power too! Research shows most will drive 80% of the year just on EV power, (standard travel to work and back) but longer trips will be most satisfying knowing you don't have to stay over night in a hotel to charge, or wait in line for others to get off the level 2 chargers, etc. Just plug in at home or stop at your gas station on every corner in America. What a wonderful time, as we see this transformation.
My mom had a Mazda in the early 90’s and bought a brand new ‘98 Toyota Corolla LE at the time, I was 3 years old. My first vehicle I purchased is a 2018 RAV-4 LE. Haven’t been let down by any of these Japanese made cars!
I’m not sure I should admit this here but I didn’t know that Honda was the parent company until this video. They did a great job of separating the two brands with that secret squirrel meeting.
