hey Scotty I did my own injector cleaning in about 1 hour. I simply took them out use a tire valve stem and a parts cleaner along with a 9v battery to pressurize parts cleaner into the injector while activating the solenoid, first I back flushed them. Total cost about 20$.

Is this car worth it? It seems like it’s sporty but sporty doesn’t mean fast. It seems really slow and bad gas mileage so it’s just weird. Like it doesn’t do anything great but is decent at everything

One "small" correction: This generation TLX does not have in-house transmission from Honda. It is a 9 speed AT from ZF, one of THE WORST transmissions ever put into a car. This car is beautiful but it's fundamentally flawed with the transmission.
Agreed that the ZF9 is a heap of garbage generally, however, my wife had an '18 TLX V6 with that transmission and it was pretty decent. However, my '19 MDX had the same drivetrain and it was a disaster. So, I think the tuning has a lot to do with how well it does.
My mileage literally halved. Turns out the cats were clogged, so I took it from the dealer and bought new cats and o2 sensors for a quarter of the price they wanted to charge

(I've had several vehicles either smashed up or stolen here...The first one stolen was inside a car dealership building and they broke in and stole it.)

Scotty this is my neighbors car. The video doesn't do it justice how nice the color is, he also takes great care of this car it always looks great. Very nice video!
This is one of those final special edition version cars of the outgoing TLX model. It's pretty impressive being hand built at the NSX plant and receives the $6k NSX paint option as part of the package, It has more and thicker layers and a special clear coat, There's a good video about the paint job on the internet from one of those engineering guys...
Just for clarity to anyone else reading these threads: I bought a used 2018 a few months ago from an online retailer. Great car, love it so far. There is a pretty big price variant between the FWD and SH-AWD (a couple grand). All the ones I saw on Carvana were FWD. Just make sure you know what you are wanting and what price point is reasonable.
About six months ago,I saw a brand new four door Acura standard model that was one of the most beautiful new cars I have seen in years. That deep red color but just a little lighter.,it might have been a TLX but that car was just gorgeous.I told the owner that and he was in agreement.Thank God the blind person designing Lexus cars has'nt started working at Acura.Just nice to see at least one car maker not going for ugly as possible in their styling.
The amount of money, time, stress, money, stress, time, money, money, and money that he's saved people from his no nonsense advice is absolutely ridiculous and second to no one on the internet, God bless you Scotty!
Gorgeous car! The color is Stunning. I spent over 30 yrs in N.E. & yes drivers suck there. It's like they all picked up the N.Y. city mentality of driving. 😲😲😲
They drive like maniacs in all of the Lower 48 States. I can't figure out if they are Suicidal, or Homicidal! People just don't seem to value Life very much anymore! Nice car Scotty. Good Video.
Beautiful car indeed. The paint work is incredible. And superb engine I absolutely agree. The torque vectoring of the AWD system might probably be the best I have ever had. But sadly this car has been the most frustrating piece of dishonorable garbage I have ever own in my life, and it's 85% because of the transmission, and 15% because of its insane unreliability. It just doesn't get worst than this regarding the transmission. So bad in fact that even if it was 5K$ brand new, as beautiful as it is, knowing what I know now, I would not even touch it with a ten foot pole. Otherwise, great video as usual Scotty!!
@@virgilwyatt4632 It was a 2018 model year. I bought it brand new. I reached the limit of my patience with the transmission (ZF 9HP) only 3 weeks into ownership, though I endured my pain for around 20 months before getting rid of it. I never felt liberated like this in my entire life.
I bought a 2013 tl sh awd elite a spec a couple years ago and bought a extended warranty purely because of the trans. Had enough mdx and Acura’s in general to know the auto trans are the weak spots. U know if my trans is as problem ridden though ? I think mine is only 6 speeds.
I had an 2001 Acura 3.2CL type S I got it in 2006 with 70k miles, put 100k in it in about a year … only work I did was oil changes and spark plugs … nothing else… back then that car was amazing to drive on the road, was quick for the time… miss it
@@virgilwyatt4632 yeah it was a good car for the time … I just looked them up after this video and used ones in good condition with 200k are being sold for around 4.5k+ at dealerships … you should see how much they are trying to charge for TL type S 2005+
I have a tlx v6 all wheel with 24000 km that the dealer wanted to buy back for more than i paid msrp. Literally bought this for longevity and to not become a money pit !
@@user-qb7qg2pp6w From Merriam Webster: Yeet is a slang word that functions broadly with the meaning “to throw,” but is especially used to emphasize forcefulness and a lack of concern for the thing being thrown.
Regarding the Ford Truck not starting issue: He did not explain it very well (or you left out part of his email.) If the engine is slow to turn over, you are right, battery and/or alternator. But if it spins over fine but just takes several seconds to fire, it's the fuel pump or pickup or that little screen on the fuel pump is allowing fuel to leak past it. It could also be a fuel injector stuck open and draining the fuel lines of fuel (and in the process diluting the oil because that fuel will makes it's way around the rings and down into the oil pan.)
That particular TLX is called the PMC. It had the Advance AND A-Spec packages, plus the special paint and accents/badges for PMC. The UA-cam review goes in depth for every change inside and out. The paint was apparently a large cost of the car
Actually not. The addition of the a spec package and the advance and the tech package combined were less than if you got them separately, and then they painted it from the same color, using the same exact process, and number of steps as the NSX. If you figure everything went into the car, it’s a relative Oregon. The only downside of that car at all is the infotainment system it’s just OK. I have a 2016 TLX advance V6 all-wheel-drive, and I absolutely love it.
I got mine over to Acura with all the warning lights on, finally. They replaced the filler neck to solve the emissions/brake code. They reset the srs and weren't sure why it was on. They updated something and the USB started working normally again. All is well again. It was implied that the filler neck issue that throws the e-brake code may have caused some glitch for the USB and SRS but they wouldn't say those words. The battery tested fine as low voltage can cause a myriad of sensors to throw at the same time. While I had it there, I had them do the front and rear diff fluid. Hopefully there's no more glitches before 200k. My plan is to make it to at least 200k with this one
The Acura TLX is a nice car but I don't believe it comes with a spare tire. With the Acura RLX some models do and some don't (The A-Spec and FWD models don't) (if you hit a pothole and burst the sidewall , a can of fix-a-flat isn't gonna get you back home.)
Paul Thayer. I believe you are correct. I purchased the RDX 2019 mine comes with a spare tire however from what I understand after that the Acura did not come with a spare tire.
I have a red 2019 V-6 TLX A-SPEC A-SR with SH-AWD that I purchased brand new. It's not the same shade of red as the vehicle shown here, but rather more of a "give-me a-speeding-ticket red." It's an extremely fun vehicle to drive especially when you can open up the engine on a smooth, twisty rural 2-lane blacktop and really exercise the transmission's "sport plus" mode as it was intended to be used.
hgahahhah right ! Honeslty go finance one , as much as people say "o cars are bad investments " , i disagree. I spend $600 on smokes a month , a nice financed car is also $600 a month. But atleast the car will make my mood better , my image better , more fun , and a hobby.
It’s like that everywhere now adays. What I realized is everyone’s car is fast now a days most cars have turbos and these kids drive them like crazy. Tesla and Hyundai drivers are the worst lmao
@@badabing2302 The SH-AWD models have a 5% reduced horsepower output to the wheels due to the additional gearing and clutch inefficiency. The FWD model, while a little harder to find, is much preferred unless you live where snow is a problem. Also, the SH-AWD is much heavier and complex. You really don't want it unless you need it and are willing to give up the 5% performance benefits of the FWD.
@@superfly3990 that 5% I feel is mainly cause the car is slightly heavier with the SH-AWD and I have an AWD and I feel like it was much faster than the TLX FWD V6 I came from and the car is really really fun on the backroads the AWD just pulls you through the bends faster than when you went in. I love the driving and handling feel of the AWD vs the FWD
Love Acura have one 2015 TLX my old car was a 07 TL ❤️ be a Honda guy all my life had 4 civics and 4 Mitsubishi im a JDM fan lo me a Japones car next i need a Lexus but the new TLX is tempting me 😬🤫
My Dad has a 1st gen TLX aspec and just got a 2nd gen one. 1st one was a good vehicle, didn't have much miles on it at all but the 2nd one has been great so far.
sure but they're fast for what it is and you definitely are faster than your average corolla, camry, altima, maxima, and slightly faster than most Lexus IS cars basically youre faster than regular traffic
Scotty Im looking at a 2020 Acura TLX A spec 2.4 With Only 10,000 miles, cars clean, dont worry about price i know how to handle that. What do you think are they good cars? This would replace my flawless 2016 accord 2.4 with only 43k miles. What do ya think?? Keep the accord or upgrade to acura 🤔
I have this car. Not the pmc edition. I have the 2019 acura tlx aspec and elite package v6 awd. Just curious if I should put cold air intake on this car. Or will it cause damage to my car in the long run?
This really is a sweet ride. As for my engine cover, I think it's buried in the garage, or in the trash. Who cares? I don't sit and stare glowingly at my engine bay, anyway. Having sold Acura, Lexus and Honda, I never felt that I got enough bang for my buck with Acura, like I do with Lexus at the premium level and Honda at the prolitarian level. Consequently, we have two Civics and one Lexus. Best of both worlds, IMHO.

Looks like Scotty upset the Toyota people
I bought a 2013 tl sh awd elite a spec a couple years ago and bought a extended warranty purely because of the trans. Had enough mdx and Acura’s in general to know the auto trans are the weak spots. U know if my trans is as problem ridden though ? I think mine is only 6 speeds.
Every time Acuras are mentioned - the next thing you hear is that transmission word.
There's a reason why Lexus dominates that niche.
I drive a tractor trailer and drove my share of miles through Mass. I have come to dub the drivers there “massholes”!! 🤣😂🤣
I had an 2001 Acura 3.2CL type S I got it in 2006 with 70k miles, put 100k in it in about a year … only work I did was oil changes and spark plugs … nothing else… back then that car was amazing to drive on the road, was quick for the time… miss it
I still drive my 2003 CL Type S 6 speed manual everyday. Purchased it new on September 30, 2002.
@@virgilwyatt4632 yeah it was a good car for the time … I just looked them up after this video and used ones in good condition with 200k are being sold for around 4.5k+ at dealerships … you should see how much they are trying to charge for TL type S 2005+
Thank you so much Scotty the Acura TLX is my dreamed Car!
I have a tlx v6 all wheel with 24000 km that the dealer wanted to buy back for more than i paid msrp. Literally bought this for longevity and to not become a money pit !
The 2008 Acura TSX and the 2006 RSX were the last of the classic era Hondas.
RSX is underrated. Lower it. Put an intake on it. The intake sound is incredible. Don’t even bother with the exhaust
@@wjkrug yup , had a aem v2 on my 02 rsx-s and there is nothing like that sound.
I would also make sure the Valves are still set correctly on that CRV, Have a Good Honda tech reset them.
I love when Scotty yeets the beauty covers across the driveway 🤣🤣🤣
can you show me the definition of "yeets"?

perhaps I'm overly sensitive, but I always cringe when I see him do that with a customer's car
@@chuckasualty I bet the owners do too, but it makes for good TV
I forgot all about the PMC Tlx . I daily a tlx n it’s nice. Just use it to run around town
i have this excat car, same edition, best
car i have ever owned
Thank God I bought myself a 2019 Acura TLX A-Spec AWD 6 months ago. Now the price went up by 5K & you can't find one
Amen
Regarding the Ford Truck not starting issue: He did not explain it very well (or you left out part of his email.) If the engine is slow to turn over, you are right, battery and/or alternator. But if it spins over fine but just takes several seconds to fire, it's the fuel pump or pickup or that little screen on the fuel pump is allowing fuel to leak past it. It could also be a fuel injector stuck open and draining the fuel lines of fuel (and in the process diluting the oil because that fuel will makes it's way around the rings and down into the oil pan.)
Had a similar generation CL with the same engine. Was pretty good but car fell apart around the engine at 130,000 miles.
Elaborate
Transmission yea? Pretty common on those.
@@vincebrown9832 no trans problems yet ?
The paint on that car is a 6k dollar option if u wanted it on a different tlx that didn’t come with it like the pmc.
@badabing2302 I have a 2016 same engine and transmission...no issues 155k miles
Min 2.28, is that a Church bell ringing? if Church bells still allowed to ring in the US, that's awesome
That’s a PMC which is handcrafted. Same performance center the NSX is made.
Had a 2018 TLX Aspec 3.5 good car, I replaced it with a 22 BMW 340i a lot more car.
Agree, but you will spend 5 to 10X the amount of maintenance in the Beemer
Probably a lot more money too right ?
@@scottlouis1064he's smart and I bet he leased it them M340i cars are really great everyday performance sedans
Ya I like the real red more than the pmc colour. Looks nice with the black accents like the little trunk lip and dark wheels.
@@badabing2302 not to mention the blacked out roof and the Advanced features combined with the A-Spec Package
I test drove this car the other day what a nice car !
I had the battery issue in my wife's Buick enclave. It was testing slightly weak and that was enough to keep it from starting like that expedition.
Car like that would literally change my whole life from health to a steady job.
hgahahhah right !
That's why people from surrounding states call
the people from Massachusetts Massholes .
Hi Scotty. I just purchased the 2018 Acura TLX V6 Advanced 2WD. They are a little hard to find, but outrun the SH-AWD !! The car is wonderful !
Your car will hit outrun a awd model unless u have modified it.
I love my TLX A-Spec!
Regular people: 1 or 2 Mind
Scotty: Every video, Lol...
that said, we love you AirBourne!!
Love Acura have one 2015 TLX my old car was a 07 TL ❤️ be a Honda guy all my life had 4 civics and 4 Mitsubishi im a JDM fan lo me a Japones car next i need a Lexus but the new TLX is tempting me 😬🤫
such a beautiful color

Who drives from Boston to Providence for work? They have real nice trains that will do the driving for you.
Afternoons here Scotty, what's worse the open mouth front grill on this you dont show much of or the Chrome Unibrow on the Accord?
Got a new tlx type s 22 loving it
Honda sure make some excellent cars. A shame they're discontinued here in Australia. Nothing but Hyundais and Kias now...
Really? That sucks :(

My Dad has a 1st gen TLX aspec and just got a 2nd gen one. 1st one was a good vehicle, didn't have much miles on it at all but the 2nd one has been great so far.
I don’t recall the first gen (15-17) having A Spec. Do u mean the 18-20?

You should have recommended the CRV owner to get a valve adjustment too. loose valves are a killer on gas mileage.
When Scotty gets flipped off, it's like we've all been flipped off.
calm down
My problem with Honda and Acura is they don't make V8 rwd sedans
Thank you Scotty for reviewing that TLX Aspec! I just ordered one! No concerns about the turbo? That was my only worry….
Need to be more Acura and no mistakes, work in Honda service. And their always stealing them catalytic converters from the Hondas . 🥺
Tlx is generally rocks i have a 22
With honda 10 speed transmission
I got the poor man’s version, an older accord for $4500 with 143,000. 2.4 is zippy and sippy
I wouldn't call these TLXs "fast" but they are underappreciated for sure. Smooth NA V6s will be missed.
sure but they're fast for what it is and you definitely are faster than your average corolla, camry, altima, maxima, and slightly faster than most Lexus IS cars basically youre faster than regular traffic

Nice! Great vid, Scotty.
I have this car. Not the pmc edition. I have the 2019 acura tlx aspec and elite package v6 awd. Just curious if I should put cold air intake on this car. Or will it cause damage to my car in the long run?
Hey Scotty i bought a 1982 Mercedes 300D, is there anything i should fix/replace as a preventative measure before i put it on the road?
This really is a sweet ride. As for my engine cover, I think it's buried in the garage, or in the trash. Who cares?
I don't sit and stare glowingly at my engine bay, anyway.
Having sold Acura, Lexus and Honda, I never felt that I got enough bang for my buck with Acura, like I do with Lexus at the premium level and Honda at the prolitarian level. Consequently, we have two Civics and one Lexus. Best of both worlds, IMHO.
A specs are handmade. Very nice but the type S is the one to get
Try California driving. Imagine Massachusetts but with 55 million people.
