Only thing I wish it had, is a panoramic roof (although I know that’s more common on SUV’s but some caters do have it). I love the car.

The engine is a masterpiece. Honda NA V6 engines always sound good, but the fact that they actually have a clear crisp exhaust note on a turbo V6 engine shows the amount of time they put into tuning and testing it. Turbos often muffle some of sound so you only hear what makes it past the turbo.
I've been waiting for this car for a long time. I'm currently driving a 2003 Acura TL Type S that I bought new. It's been a fantastic car, and the 300-horsepower VTEC V6 still purrs. The only thing I've done to the car that was unscheduled was a new power steering rack at 200,000 miles.
Why would he worry about the engine cover? It's a worthless piece of plastic. No spare!? Shame on Honda for not providing an essential piece of safety equipment for their cars.
He's probably not gonna like the one with the CVT. He's not a huge fan of the 1.5 liter engine either. Hopefully he reviews a Type S version. I'm sure that's the one he will like.
@@Blank00 it’s not that scotty has a problem with CVT reliability (outside of any CVT not made by Honda or Toyota) it’s CVTs are transmissions not like by people who like driving ( ie anyone who don’t view cars as transport only) an integra should not have cvt transmission!
I bought my TLX (not Type S) in March and I really am impressed with the fit and attention to detail. The seats are comfortable and even tho I have 4 cyl with turbo there is plenty of power for merging and getting around slow pokes in the greater Silicon Valley highway system. The infotainment system has a learning curve but after a few weeks it will all fall together. Paid MSRP (no mark up) on a 3 year lease from Acura Financial. Dealer is small California group (Hopkins Acura and Honda) everything on the contact exactly as proposed. If you are SUV people the MDX and RDX are top notch.
How is the road and engine noise? A couple of car reviewers have complained that the engine sounds loud and cheap from the cockpit, and road noise not as muted as it should be in this premium class.

Honda at its finest, well done to them for producing this special car, I'd buy one if it was available in the UK (unfortunatley its not) amazing engine and it looks so so good, its such a unique car too it doesnt have anything to compare to!
I sold my 07 TL-S (175k, 10 years, treated me great) for a 2019 TLX A-Spec (V6 AWD). I REALLY love the TLX - except the automatic shutoff nonsense. I disable it when I get in but I wish there was a Default-Off setting instead of Default-On

Good review. Funny as hell when he threw engine cover off. He seems genuinely impressed . Acura has winner with the TLX type S But why are they so rare and hard to find??
I inherited my brother’s 2021 TLX. It’s A-spec, which is not as sporty with performance, but as a 19 year old I don’t know what to do with myself using such a nice car.
Super interesting vid, Scotty. My '06 TL sounds similar under heavy acceleration, but obviously it's nowhere near the tech of this '22 you just showed us. But I do have the Brembos up front, too. That car _is_ tempting to buy!
If i can afford it in the future, im going for the advanced spec version of this tlx. Better gas mileage, still 272 hp so plenty to have fun with and a little more luxury features. So imo, it's the better option, at least for me.
@Roberto Vidal Garcia it's quite a lot more than my 2010 base model civic, so it's definitely much faster than what i have, and it's not just about power, the features, looks and interior is what sells me on it the most.
@Roberto Vidal Garcia well, as i said, im coming from a 2010 civic, and while i have looked a some benz's, they just dont have the same features i want for that price point. Plus, it'll be way cheaper to service a tlx than a benz, as well as more reliable. The sound system alone was a huge reason why im looking at the tlx, as im an audiophile and there's no other car in that segment that has something like it. The quality of the interior will be a significant upgrade and while not on a benz level, it wont feel cheap by any means. And in my opinion i like the interior design a lot more than a c-class.
I own a 07 TL Type-S with a 6-speed manual it's an Awesome car I still Don't understand why Acura got rid of the Type S for so many years basically the SI of the Acura line
My friend just got one and she let me take it for a spin. And I gotta say it's an amazing car I want one so bad. It's probably the coolest looking car on the road. And it's sounds amazing when you step on it on Sport +😍
@@ricoreyonfire I’m sure it is. But 50k seems reasonable just a opinion, was looking to upgrade from my 2012 tsx but I probably just wait a year or two now.

Honda really made a fan out of me with Acura TSX (Accord Euro CU2 in Australia). It’s a damn shame they killed it off, leaving us with the regular Accord and Civic etc. This is the type of car if consider buying brand new
I got a black 2005 Acura TL with the 6 speed manual , factory limited slip and front Brembo Brakes . Its a blast to drive and I plan on keeping it a long time .
I read somewhere that Acura went with the non-Brembo rear caliper due to the auto parking brake function. Getting that in a Brembo would have been custom manufactured for Acura and some big $$. Please correct my if I'm wrong but it at least made be feel better for my Type-S :)
You’re absolutely correct! If Honda/Acura would have had Brembo make a new rear caliper design for the electronic parking brake, other features would have been taken away from what is in the car now, in order for the books to balance for the $55,000 price.
Front brakes perform 70% of your stopping so they probably felt that with the single Calipers on the rear and the dual caliper Brembos on the front , it was plenty of stopping power .
I'd take the camry with the V6 all day. Scotty says turbos will have issues down the road. Camry is 100% natural. More back seat room. Almost as much HP. Save 15K. I bought the TRD 5 months ago...first new car ever. I paid $600 upfront for 7 year unlimited mile tire & rim warranty.
Scotty, I had a similar situation with a CPO last year. The dealer advertised the car as CPO but then they had a $1,500 additional CPO charge. Those guys were crooks and luckily I found a brand NEW car at the same price as the CPO from a different dealer.
I worked at R&D for over 7 years…one of the coolest jobs I ever had. Scotty, you are correct!!! Honda knows what they are doing! Nice car. Love the look.
if i have a hybrid transmission configuration that i want to share with honda, where do i contact them ? i tried few places. no response. please guide.
I have a 2021 tlx type S. I tuned it with ktuner and slapped some swift springs on it. It is now a complete vehicle. A completely different beast. I highly recommend. I actually get more compliments of my Acura than my s2000 which is crazy to me.
Absolutely love my 2021 Type S. I've stopped at least 10k into it for performance and upgrades already, and I'm still obsessed. I will probably never sell this baby.
3:02 I have a buddy who has one of these and He wasn't a fan of these pirellis And he put on a set of Michelin pilot sport 4s on it completely different car from my experience owning a few Hondas myself and from a lot of my friends and some of my mechanic friends experience Honda's love Michelin tires Best thing you could ever do to your Honda Put a set of michelins on it I had Continental all season tires on my 07 6 Speed TL Type S They were ok put a brand new set of Michelin pilot sport all season 4 tires on it completely different animal SO MUCH BETTER michelin's and Hondas are like chocolate and peanut butter. It's a match made in heaven
Scotty, I’m glad you approve. I’ve had my TLX Type-S for 7 months now and I enjoy driving it. I can get 19 to 20 mpg driven in “Normal” mode with the automatic engine-turns-off-at-stops disabled.
Acura makes nice cars, and their engines are bulletproof, but with all their technology, IMO, they could do better on mpg. One of our neighbors has a beautiful new RDX, his only complaint is fuel consumption.
Thank you Scotty I drove Honda in Canada 🇨🇦. 6 months driving in -25 . Freezing weather/ SALT everywhere on the roads . No problems. (Uber driver)- most of the days Iam driving 11 hours daily. Just I can say HONDA is a great cars.
It is a very nice car no doubt. The Accord Sport is probably a better value, but of course no AWD on that. If you've got the money, can't really go wrong with the Acura.
My dad paid the spare in his Kia Optima back in 2012. Told him to take it out before he traded it in. His Kia Niro ('18) didn't have one. He's happy he kept his spare.
Honestly that ls a beautiful looking car probably the nicest ive seen in a decade…… Im curious how long the engines will last…. If this v6 is as good and the old j-series i bet theyl hold up phenomenally maybe not to 4-500,000 miles like a stock 4cyl but probably a decent 2-300,000

European cars on the other hand excel in terms of high performance and make great looking cars for the most part. But, look at the new BMWs tho. The new front grills are ugly af. The new BMWs look like that ugly chick nobody wants to bang. But, at least the Jaguars, Audis, and MB still look good right? 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I have a 2015 TLX that has a known transmission issue (per Acura forum). I keep praying & crossing my fingers mine will last, cause I love it so much, and can't afford the new one. The comfort, the cabin quietness, engine vrooms when revving up, soft suspension, the feeling like you're flying while driving @ freeway speed is like nothing else. I don't even like the way Lexus or other luxury brands drive, too stiff.
Same except I had mine replaced 2 weeks after buying the car. It had 19k miles on it. Big difference when they put in the revised tranny. It’s going on 50k miles and I only owe 1k and done with payments. Im really in love with this new body from day one but the thought of having no payments is a no brainer especially with the economy right now. I think Acura will give you a discount or even pay for the transmission if it fails under 100k I believe.
Some guy w an RL here. How did they gain only 50hp over the previous N/A J37 motor? And this new motor looks like a DOHC instead of SOHC the J37 has. So, they trimmed the displacement by .7L added two(2) more cams and a turbocharger and gained only 50 more hp? Hmmmm??? Maintenance wise, that's four more cam seals, more valves to adjust, two more cam sprockets w VVT seals, Turbo bearings and seals..exctra... for 50 extra hp. Granted its a Honda, but eventually that stuffs got to be replaced. They should have just SC the existing J37 to gain the 50hp. IMO. Scotty your the Shiznit! Love your show.
I find it ironic that Scotty has stated both the Acura TLX and MDX are better than Toyota products. I own a 2023 MDX Type S Advance and I agree when we compared it to the similar Lexus products there was no comparison. The MDX is an incredible street SUV and the TLX is an incredible car. It really comes down to that amazing 3.0L Twin Turbo V6. Just an incredible motor.
@Roberto Vidal Garcia absolutely. $55k for a Honda that isn’t an NSX? That’s an absurdity. At least a German marquee brand holds their value at that price point. Acura / Honda does not.
@@britexpat_l33tyou have no clue what you’re talking about i own an Acura they are extremely reliable for what they are most luxury brands can’t say that.
Only downside about Honda/Acura V6 engines is that they’re still using timing belts to this day. Even the TLX Type-S and MDX/MDX Type-S uses timing belts. Don’t understand why they can’t just switch over to a timing chain.
Might be more maintenance but it’s quieter engine than a chain, once you drive one and see how they pull. Last thing you’ll complain about is why it has a timing belt believe me 😂✌🏻
@@robmalcolm8042 Honda uses timing chains on their 4 cylinder engines, but every V6 engine they ever make has an timing belt. Even 2022 Honda/Acura V6 engines still have them.

Currently in Greece for a vacation the thing with the dealerships overcharging isn't only a US problem I went to a toyota dealership and they asked 50k euro for the new gr86 and the gr supra (that's the 2l one) was 15k more (I promised my nephew a car for his 18th birthday but I'm not paying 50k for a brz)
I work at Honda of America in Marysville in Ohio, and yes I was shocked when I was told that this TLX in Gold color was selling for $56,000. They look very sharp in Gold color, but I only work for a contractor there, and even if they gave contractors a discount, I still couldn’t afford it! But I hear that they are twin turbocharged and so comfortable and great to drive!
I really do like this car! I just wish they put more power in to it, hopefully a tuner will crack the code and some aftermarket parts will be available, it’ll be interesting to see how far it can be taken.

He's probably not gonna like the one with the CVT. He's not a huge fan of the 1.5 liter engine either. Hopefully he reviews a Type S version. I'm sure that's the one he will like.
@@Tjtjboy Scotty says that Honda's newer CVTs are better their older CVTs and better than Nissan CVTs.
@@Blank00 it’s not that scotty has a problem with CVT reliability (outside of any CVT not made by Honda or Toyota) it’s CVTs are transmissions not like by people who like driving ( ie anyone who don’t view cars as transport only)
an integra should not have cvt transmission!
Can't go wrong with Acura. Expensive, but if you plan on having it for 20 yrs, it's worth it.
This car is absolutely gorgeous. I had an 08 Acura TL Type S and it was a dream to drive. I had to trade it in for a bigger SUV but I sure miss it.
Yes luv my 2008 TLS too. But Sadly, I have to sell it soon, college tuition.
If you are SUV people the MDX and RDX are top notch.
agreed on everything you said Bill, just wish the 2.0L had the six speed manual, I would have bought one by now!
How is the road and engine noise? A couple of car reviewers have complained that the engine sounds loud and cheap from the cockpit, and road noise not as muted as it should be in this premium class.
I have a 2011 Acura TSX and I love it, the car drives like a champ.
I have the 2012 one. And thinking about upgrading soon to this car not sure yet though.
Acura TL's are awesome
All I buy is acuras ,n I have a tlx n had a mdx ,love the those vehicles, just not a fan of new pricing on vehicles, but bang for the buck ,acura has it hands down . I've always watched,n continue to watch,n learn from ur channel . U have stopped me from almost buying cars or suv's, that won't last n I didn't know that was the case on those vehicles ,til I started watching. N now I tell others to check out ur channel b4 buying bc u have knowledge on alot. Thanks !
Honda at its finest, well done to them for producing this special car, I'd buy one if it was available in the UK (unfortunatley its not) amazing engine and it looks so so good, its such a unique car too it doesnt have anything to compare to!
I kinda like the es350 f sport look compare to tlx
Why on earth would you buy this when you can buy something actually decent..? There’s a reason why this car is only available to Americans….
Is the new land cruiser available over there?
@@tymom9313 No. It wouldn’t sell. Brits would buy a Land Rover / Audi / BMW instead.
@@britexpat_l33t as Scotty would say: “endless money pits!”
I've had 3 TLs.....only 2007-2008.... Just sold a white one about a year ago sellers remorse, fabulous cars.
I sold my 07 TL-S (175k, 10 years, treated me great) for a 2019 TLX A-Spec (V6 AWD). I REALLY love the TLX - except the automatic shutoff nonsense. I disable it when I get in but I wish there was a Default-Off setting instead of Default-On
Ask the dealer, ford owners have the same problem
@@jesusspartan8951 Friend of mine is driving a coyote-equipped F-150 and that is driving him nuts too, he told me the other day there is a plug-in module that bypasses the eco default so it stays where you set it.
My parents bought an Acura 2.5TL back in the 90s and it was great. Never had an problems with it.
Good review. Funny as hell when he threw engine cover off. He seems genuinely impressed . Acura has winner with the TLX type S But why are they so rare and hard to find??
I would keep that car, since it is a limited production it will only keep going up in value.
I inherited my brother’s 2021 TLX. It’s A-spec, which is not as sporty with performance, but as a 19 year old I don’t know what to do with myself using such a nice car.
Lol no cares go crash it
Enjoy it man! And take care of it. You are incredibly lucky to get something so nice at a young age.
@ASpec_Jay nah, I use it as my daily
My friend just got one and she let me take it for a spin. And I gotta say it's an amazing car I want one so bad. It's probably the coolest looking car on the road. And it's sounds amazing when you step on it on Sport +😍
For 60k is it worth it though...
@@toraso842 Reliability yes. Compared to the their competition this car is gonna be a threat lol. Honda/Acura got a champ right here.

This is the type of car if consider buying brand new
I have a 2015 Acura TLX V6 with tech package. Acura is all I ever owned.
I got a black 2005 Acura TL with the 6 speed manual , factory limited slip and front Brembo Brakes .
Its a blast to drive and I plan on keeping it a long time .
old car with tranny issues. I had an 08 TL-S and tranny went completely out.
Currently daily driving the 2021, 4 cylinder version and it’s great
I read somewhere that Acura went with the non-Brembo rear caliper due to the auto parking brake function.
They do try to keep the price down for a luxury Honda
Front brakes perform 70% of your stopping so they probably felt that with the single Calipers on the rear and the dual caliper Brembos on the front , it was plenty of stopping power .
Sounds like a copout to me. Don't the HMG siblings have Brembos both front and rear and still kept their auto hold function?
I'd take the camry with the V6 all day. Scotty says turbos will have issues down the road. Camry is 100% natural. More back seat room. Almost as much HP. Save 15K. I bought the TRD 5 months ago...first new car ever. I paid $600 upfront for 7 year unlimited mile tire & rim warranty.
Top shelf. That things a beauty.
Scotty, I had a similar situation with a CPO last year. The dealer advertised the car as CPO but then they had a $1,500 additional CPO charge. Those guys were crooks and luckily I found a brand NEW car at the same price as the CPO from a different dealer.
Been waiting for you to review this, awesome to see it finally in your hands 😊
He looks just so happy when he steps on it! Love the smile, Scotty!

My wife just bought one last night! I’m glad that Scotty approves of this car. Makes me feel better about it.
What you do for a living?

If i ever did that I would be divorced !!😂 hopefully one day I get to do that as well! 🤙
The tlx is a solid car, robust little v6 on it. Very good pricing too. Cant really go wrong on the honda products since the beginning of time
Your reviews are always appreciated Scotty, I've learned more from you in 1 year than I have in the last 20.........
Just upgraded from a TSX 2010 with 114000 Miles to a TLX 2019, what an upgrade!!
Looking at one now. How has it held up for you?
The camera work on the engine at the 2:00 mark and at 9:30 on may have given me epilepsy. This dude is a LEGEND, c'mon man.
Scotty, I’m glad you approve. I’ve had my TLX Type-S for 7 months now and I enjoy driving it. I can get 19 to 20 mpg driven in “Normal” mode with the automatic engine-turns-off-at-stops disabled.
20 US mpg is *lousy*. An M340i is getting 36 UK mpg (~30 US mpg).
Acura makes nice cars, and their engines are bulletproof, but with all their technology, IMO, they could do better on mpg.
One of our neighbors has a beautiful new RDX, his only complaint is fuel consumption.
That is about the mileage I get. AEO disabled.
I own a 2015 tlx v6 and I absolutely love it. I've had it for 3 years now and it's been very dependable family car.

I drove Honda in Canada 🇨🇦.
I love Scotty's professional reviews.
How do the brakes work?
Like no tomorrow!
The lifted car with those gigantic rims at the 3:40 mark had me rolling. Kilmer is the funniest imo, but well respected mechanic.
Honestly that ls a beautiful looking car probably the nicest ive seen in a decade……
Im curious how long the engines will last…. If this v6 is as good and the old j-series i bet theyl hold up phenomenally maybe not to 4-500,000 miles like a stock 4cyl but probably a decent 2-300,000
Come on this doesn't look anywhere near as good as Mercedes and Audis lol. it just looks like it is made from gloss plastic.

@@DEVILTAZ35Why are you comparing an Acura to European cars? Makes no sense. Obviously, Audis, Mercedes, Jaguar, and BMW are in a different league. No shade to Acura. Give credit due. They made a great car. They excel in terms of reliability and develop long lasting cars like Lexus. They still are a great car brand.
It’s got the same engine internals as a NSX. Forged from factory.
I've seen a few. I like the design.

Toyota for quality, craftsmanship, reliability, durability, dependability, performance, highest resale value, longevity and piece of mind.
The guy in the background adjusting the fix a flat attachment cause Scotty moved it around lol
Scotty when you were stepping on the accelerator, the expession on your face was like a kid in a candy store.
This is the car I’m planning to buy once I come back to the states.
You should check out the 4 cylinder TLX aspec. I think Acura should have kept naturally aspirated 6 cylinder for the base engine in the TLX.
I'm actually an engineer student and I plan on interning at the honda plant in Marysville.
one of our neighbors has a new white one of those (just the standard model, not the type S) and it really is a gorgeous car...

@@txtchjmb29 they have the type R engine in the tlx lol. Just detuned
Cool overview Scotty
The new 24’s look UNBELIEVABLE!
Off course a Acura is better than anything Toyota.
I WAS GOING TO SAY THE SUPRA IS BUT THEN I THOUGHT TO MY SELF WAIT THATS A BMW LMAO
This has been one of the funner car reviews Scotty has done.
Acura is a super high quality car
No. It’s not. It’s a Honda. Nothing is ‘high quality’ anymore with Honda.
@Roberto Vidal Garcia absolutely. $55k for a Honda that isn’t an NSX? That’s an absurdity. At least a German marquee brand holds their value at that price point. Acura / Honda does not.
@Roberto Vidal Garcia of course not; it’s a Honda.

My 2010 TL sh-awd was a great car. No complaints at all. I think honda/acura should still utilize the vtechzilla J37. Gas mileage be damned.
Last thing you’ll complain about is why it has a timing belt believe me 😂✌🏻
They're being cheap!
