BBC Africa does not portray Africa in a negative but brings out what really needs to be known to the world, you can't always portray Africa positively becuase we all know there are many things wrong, which the world an mostly other AFRICANS need to know/learn about. I personally think BBC Africa is doing the job not many other news companies are willing to do, actually showing what is going in Africa.
@Star...same thought, same thought. I commend these but they can put out positivity in equal measure. I guess that's what President Kagame is trying to put across that "BBC should respect Africa." Nonetheless, creating awareness about certain issues is the rationale here, right?
This is a head-scratcher. I really appreciate the reporter sharing insights from other cultures. I can't imagine being the person that is getting harassed each night. Good Documentary

While night-running has existed in Western Kenya, this documentary is stage-managed. That lady was probably running for her first time. Secondly, most night runners run naked, sometimes only covered with dry banana leaves. How do you run in white clothes at night?. Omera, why do you sell fake stories to the world? If you are genuine, why didn't you show us the lady's injuries upclose? From experience and observation, this is stage-managed!
The day a night runner meets their Waterloo...I guarantee you they will stop immediately...if you have work to go to in the morning, you would not be running at night..
Why would people tolerate this kind of behavior in their midst? Thank God for hidden cameras and the internet soon the nite runners will have nowhere to hide.

Wooow, interesting. I remember a practice similar to this one growing up. The difference is those one walked and didn't run. They carried something that looked like a touch, people would be really scared. My ancestors are from Kenya.
I’ve experienced night runners when I went to the village. Someone threw sand or water on the roof and a few rocks. I was scared to the core. I already had knowledge it existed from my childhood but experiencing it is a different story. It is quite possible that the night runners in this film were already known and agreed to be filmed with their identity hidden/ with clothes. That being said we can’t discredit the whole thing because they were clothed. The ones in kisii might be different than those in western or in Luoland.

I remember one experience when I was in Maseno University. Goodness gracious me! I had never been to Western side of Kenya so that was my first time living there. So one day I am sleeping with my window open because the temperatures at night were too high. Then I wake up from what I thought was a bad dream and there's someone poking my bed with a stick and a bright flashlight to my face. I screamed and the person kept poking me and I immediately left the bed to make sure the door was well closed. The most shocking thing to me was that even as I kept screaming, this person just kept poking at me. I have never felt that insecure and vulnerable. Meeen! That was a horrible experience for me. The person then left cz my screams were too high. He/she left the stick there as evidence. It was at around 3 AM
@@NaimahLaNae so you were busy sleeping then from nowhere there's this guy with a flashlight and trying to be spooky. The first thing you think of is to first make sure your door is locked. I heard from a Kenyan friend that in the luyo tribe they don't like to see you moving forward in life. They have so much hatred for success. A culture of pulling each other down. They happy when no one succeed. They want you to stay poor. So when my friend got a good job he run away far from his village and relative. The spirit behind is to maintain them in poverty. Nothing good can come out of it. They need help.

This is a historic documentary! I got educated about this mysterious practice that I have always heard about, but never experienced proof of. I think this is a form of dark entertainment, and those who practice it derive some form of mental and physical thrills, which gradually become an addiction. I was pleased to see the young female addict seek treatment from a traditional healer, at a fee. There is a cheaper psychological treatment to such problems - modern religion.
Seeing this video answered a lot of questions. Right now, we have a prowler who does exactly this. I've reported it to the police several times but of course they never take things seriously. It's annoying and sadistic. In my opinion, I believe it's a conscious decision you make.
I feel like they don't fear the people in their small village having the access to the technology to watch this. Of course lots of people in Kenya are very modern, but this village doesn't seem particularly so.
It is true, I used to tell my teachers I could not do my homework because of this runners in the dark... they didn't believe me...now let BBC tell them even though too late 😂😂😂🤣🤣!!!

I guess that's what President Kagame is trying to put across that "BBC should respect Africa."
Nonetheless, creating awareness about certain issues is the rationale here, right?

My ancestors are from Kenya.
I’ve experienced night runners when I went to the village. Someone threw sand or water on the roof and a few rocks. I was scared to the core. I already had knowledge it existed from my childhood but experiencing it is a different story.
It is quite possible that the night runners in this film were already known and agreed to be filmed with their identity hidden/ with clothes.
That being said we can’t discredit the whole thing because they were clothed. The ones in kisii might be different than those in western or in Luoland.

~They carry burning pots in their heads
~You will spot them (with their burning pots) running across the other ridge and no fence or any obstacle can block them
~They ride dogs, cats and other animals
~You have to eat cold food and wear clothes inside out if you want to catch them
~Their wives perform rituals which involves cooking stones so their husbands can't be caught out there
~Aside from selling fear, they do their things so nobody in the society get wealthier

Did you fight them? Did you even try? All they had was a stick and a flashlight.
Why is BBC Africa always on about some weird shit? I'm Luo and I enjoyed this one but geez all of these documentaries are always about some creepy shit.😂😂😂😂😂

From accounts from people, I've heard sometimes modern religion works, sometimes it doesn't. It all depends on the person.
Instead running at night, they should go night vigil in the church
