Thanks for this video. The GoPro site never mentioned to create the folder "UPDATE" in full caps. I was having problems but as soon as I did that everything went through. Thanks very much.
I know this is an old video, but I'm not super tech savy so my question is after doing the update can I then delete the update folder in the cameras sd card?
It doesnt work for me. I literally tried every single way.. It starts updating and after a few seconds the display says "firmware update failed". This is what happens every single way, im currently stuck with the v02 update and cant get the new v03. I'm afraid i'll have to return the gopro hero 4 silver edition and get a new one. Any thoughts?
+emil claesson Are you sure that you have downloaded the correct firmware (e.g. not the firmware for the Black Edition)? Sometimes it also helps to remove the battery+USB cable.
Yeah 100% sure, I tried everything. I was forced to go back to the store where i bought it and return it for a new one. Appearently this was not a rare malfunctioning issue according to the salesmen working there. However I now have a new one and it is working great, I never had to update this one since it already were fully updated. I hope I won't have the same problem with future updates.
I had major issues trying to update my silver version 3.0 firmware to version 5.0. In the end I used a different memory card. I disconnected the USB cable and was updated in under five minutes. Hope this helps.
then it should be also ok in ur pc or laptop ... I got myself a new gopro a few days ago and I don't have any problems with it ... Maybe you should go to the official GoPro Site and search there their FAQ ... Greets

Doesn’t work. Tried two sd cards. Turning on the camera just turns on the camera normally.
