Can you explain where to get the ip address to get to the web interface? I have the A6A as well, I’ve done the YPAO calibration, but would like to try the tweaks you suggested
My sound system consists of 4 SVS Ultra Bookshelf speakers (2 for the mains and 2 for the side channels), an SVS Ultra Center speaker, 6 SVS Prime Elevation speakers (4 ceiling mounted for Dolby Atmos and 2 mounted on the back wall for the rear channels) and 2 SVS SB-3000 Subwoofers. The system is powered by a Yamaha Aventage RX-A8A 11 channel AVR connected to a Panamax M5400-PM Power Conditioner.
@@johnferraro3990Yes, you’re correct. Audioholic reviewed the RX-V6A and they could access the Web interface via the unit’s IP Address. But they didn’t show how you access the IP Address, which is what I’m battling to find on my RX-V6A.
A note on the crossover when the Front speakers are set to Large; my previous Yamaha receiver allowed me to set Front to Large, Extra Bass to On and also set the Base Crossover. I recently purchased the RX-A6A and haven't found a way to achieve Front=Large, Extra Bass=On and Crossover=60Hz. This is the ideal setting for my Front Speakers when in 2ch.
my previous aventage used negative decibels on the front panel to show volume level, but my new rx-a6a aventage doesn't (altho the web setup does), why doesn't the rx-a6a show negative decibels too? thanks!
I thought the new YPAO accounted for height of “presence “ channels too. So it can apply various DSP. Is this not true or is it because you don’t have height channels?
@@johnferraro3990 Thanks. I picked up the A6A. And Yes YPAO does perform a second set of 4 measurements to determine height and angle of presence/height speakers. My Denon x4500 didn’t do this which is why it never created the “bubble of sound”. Just sounded like a lot of separate speakers.
Btw when it comes to the 'Distance' figures actual physical distances are of little if any importance. What the receiver measures is the time it takes the audio to reach the mic. This time is used to calculate the amount of delay the receiver needs to apply to the associated channels. Your room's acoustics and furnishings can effect the time audio takes to reach the mic so the distance it reports is correct when treating it as an amount of delay as opposed to an actual physical distance.

I would make sure that your speakers are set to small and cross over at 80hz. Check the sub during music playback and make sure it's working. Next, experiment with sub placement. Try out the sub crawl to find the best place for it. I'm not sure what your movie source is, but check that out for updates and make sure you don't have a bad cable feeding your receiver. Good luck!

Please help!! I have recently moved from pioneer to Yamaha and i am quite puzzled on this as i have two listening positions. On the pioneer i used to be able to switch between one and other (I always noticed the difference). Is it possible to do this on the Yamaha RX-V6A?
I don't believe so. You can run ypao in multiple positions and it'll use all data for adjustments. you might want to take measurements somewhere in the middle of the two positions.
All, Need some advice, Can you guide me with cross settings on the below gear. Yamaha Rx-a6a avr Revel concerta F36 R C L channels. 2 6/1/2 atmos in ceiling c263's 2 6/1/2 surrounds in wall W263's Dual sub svs pb 1000
@@johnferraro3990Correct, 80hz is the most basic and safer crossover setting. My fronts: Polk Audio S55’s are rated at 32hz and I’ve cross them over at 60hz. My centre channel: Polk Audio S35 at 80hz, and my surrounds: Polk Audio S20e bookshelves at 80hz (I’m tempted to go 60hz on them because of their excellent bass extension🤔).
To me, this AVR looks Top notch. but I can imagine this unit is not meant for the "average user" You have to have a clear understanding of Crossovers. DSP. and endless other factors to make this work perfectly at your home. I imagine it can take a while to get to know this receiver. I just bought mine 2 weeks ago. still in the box due to renovations before setting up all my speakers. BTW. I have a question. I have a pair of Polk audio tower speakers that have a build in sub. I have an option for Bi-wiring. but when I was using my vintage Onkyo from 1998. it worked fine. do I have to change the crossover setting for the front at 20hz with this A6A? Thanks for the helpful vid.
Thanks for watching. When you biwire the speaker from the receiver, the receiver sends the same full band signal through each set of wires. Your speaker should have an internal crossover that'll send the right signals to the right drivers. I'd set the crossover about 20hz over the lowest freq your speakers can reproduce.
@@johnferraro3990Yamaha AVR’s are more on the brighter side of neutral though.🤔 And Klipsch speakers are renowned for their forward presentation… not sure about the synergy there?🤔
Wouldn't it be better if manufacturers went back to placing proper balance & tone controls of the front of the amp? Much less messing about. I never bothered with the audio set up on my RX-V1400, it sounds just right (to me) as it is. As for having to access your web browser to get the best from your amp, that is just plain daft.

Thanks for the tips and advice. I will try those settings out. I have not used the Ypao calibration yet since purchasing the RX-A6A a few months.

You need to place the mic where your head is. Not the middle of the room.

And do the angle measurements too?
So place the mic on top of my head?

What should the Recievers Volume be set at when doing YPAO?
You don't need to set the volume. YPAO will handle that.

How the HELL did you get the setup screen to show up on your tv?
Use one of the HDMI outs on the receiver to one of the HDMI inputs on the tv

When I do this nothing shows up on my tv, any suggestions ?
I think you supposed to do this on a computer. You type your unit’s IP Address in the URL followed by forward slash/ then the word ‘setup’
anything with my name on it, is KING
